Restaurant with Small Private Dining Room

Hello everyone,

May I know if there are any restaurants in KL and other Klang Valley locations that have small private dining rooms that can serve only 2 persons in that room? Would like to hear some suggestions. Can't seem to find it via google. Suggestions can include hotel restaurants too. Just want to know some options. Thank you

Koh Lipe or Koh Phi Phi

Hello fellow travelers, I'm planning a short vacation with my gf and currently haven't decided whether to go to Koh Lipe or Koh Phi Phi. Planning to go for a 3 night stay around the end of November.

Concern for Koh Lipe: I'm not sure whether a 3 night stay would be overkill for a place like Koh Lipe should we decide to go there. From what I read online and from what I can see from the map of Koh Lipe is that the island is pretty small. So, there's only so much a couple can do on this island.

Concern for Koh Phi Phi: On the other hand, Koh Phi Phi is substantially larger than Koh Lipe. And some of the places I'm looking to stay at are far away (aka Long Beach) from the centre of the island (aka Tonsai Village) where most of the cheap food/nightlife/cheap shopping area are. Apparently, no roads on the island for vehicles so it's either a boat ride (which is not free) or a 20-30 minute walk (which is dark at night).

So, just want to get some feedback on either of these 2 islands from those who have been there. Any suggestions/recommendations or a brief summary of your experiences there are appreciated.

Current Sad State of Affairs

It's a long read but some of the parts in the article show that:
- some families really do not care about family planning i.e. having way more children than they can afford
- PPR flats management are burdening poor people by asking them to bear the costs of repairs
- blurred lines of authority between mbpj and the PPR flat management

http://www.themalaymailonline.com/malaysia...sing-looks-like

QUOTE

Rizal Ramli lives in a cramped 700 sq ft flat in Kota Damansara here with his seven children and pregnant wife.

The paint on the front door of the 36-year-old man’s three-bedroom People’s Housing Programme (PPR) unit is peeling and clothes are strewn all over the floor as there are no cupboards anywhere. In fact, there isn’t even a dining table, chairs or a TV.

The walls are also covered with children’s scribbles because they have no colouring books or even paper to draw on.

“I haven’t been paying rent since 2011,” Rizal told Malay Mail Online. Rizal — who only earns about RM1,000 a month selling fried food like chicken nuggets and potato wedges cooked by his wife — said rent was doubled from RM124 to RM250 a month in 2011 without any discussion with the residents.

“We can’t afford to pay RM250,” he said.

QUOTE

Then there are his monthly expenses: Groceries cost about RM500 a month, formula milk and diapers (RM300), school expenses like the children’s allowance (RM200), utilities (RM150), school books (RM60), taxi rides to send two of his children with asthma regularly to the Sungai Buloh Hospital (RM150), handphone bill, including his wife’s (RM60), which comes up to roughly RM1,420. Sometimes, he can’t even afford to pay his water and electricity bills. He uses a prepaid plan for his mobile phone and buys RM10 credit whenever he can.

He said he doesn’t get zakat funds because he gets RM450 monthly for his children — four daughters and three sons aged between two and 14 — from the Social Welfare Department (JKM). Unsurprisingly, he doesn’t have any savings and his monthly expenses of RM1,420 eat up almost all of his total income of RM1,450.

When asked about family planning, Rizal described his children as rezeki (a blessing), but with the eighth child on the way, he said that he would now start to do “a little planning.”

QUOTE

The ceiling fan in Jamal’s PPR unit is not working, the pipe in his kitchen sink is broken and the toilet bowl has no seat, but management pushes the responsibility of repairs for wear and tear to tenants, even though it is the owner who should bear such costs, according to standard tenancy agreements.

QUOTE

Fong also claimed that more than 100 residents have received eviction notices because of rent arrears with MBPJ, or because their unit was not under their name.

“Those tenants who have stayed a long time as sub-tenants, they want to continue staying, but why won’t PHSSB allow them? All it takes is just to change the name of the rental agreement,” Fong said. “And why is PHSSB using rental in arrears to MBPJ to intimidate and bully the poor residents?”

Fong claimed that MBPJ is still accepting rent arrears from Kota Damansara tenants and asked: “Is PHSSB an illegal debt collector?”

QUOTE

PHSSB general manager Nazmi Osman insisted that PHSSB has the power to collect rent and arrears, which “MBPJ doesn’t collect any more.”

“But when the tenant leaves, we’ll pass the arrears to MBPJ. We’ll inform that this tenant has arrears owed to MBPJ and it’s up to MBPJ whether they want to claim or not,” Nazmi told Malay Mail Online in an interview at the SUK Selangor building in Shah Alam.

He also said PHSSB doesn’t have the power to exempt long-term tenants from paying arrears owed to MBPJ.

“If we exempt them, what about those who paid? Do we give back the money? During the time when they were not paying, they were enjoying the facilities,” said Nazmi.

What is everyone's thoughts on this? Poor management by state/federal government? People's problem?

EPF Withdrawal

Hello, everyone. Just seeking information from those who have gone through with EPF withdrawal for house purchase from developer.

I received my S&P agreement from the lawyers today. They handed me 2 copies of the agreement. One with the word "Original" on the cover and another one with the word "Copy" on the cover. So I've checked EPF website for the documents required for withdrawals for house purchase from developer. It says need to bring the S&P. My question is, which one should I bring to the EPF counter when doing the withdrawal?
A) the true "Original"
B) a photocopy of the true "Original"
C) the true "Copy"
D) a photocopy of the true "Copy"

Also, another question. Since the property is a joint application, how many copies of the S&P agreement and housing loan approval letter do I have to bring when doing the withdrawal? And lastly, how long does it usually take for the money to be deposited into the applicants' bank account?

Suggestions for Italian restaurant

Hello lovely people of CC Okay, just wanna ask some opinions and reviews about some Italian restaurants in and around KL. Because I have plans on taking my girl out on V-Day and other future weekends to a nice Italian restaurant as she loves Italian food.

I've thought of La Risata but I've never been to either the Ampang or Damansara ones so I'm not sure whether the ambiance is romantic enough.

Any suggestions and reviews on the food and the ambiance would be welcomed. Rather prefer not to have fine dining restaurants as we both kinda have big appetite.

p.s Not necessary to suggest only Italian restaurants. Would like to know other nice, quiet, and cozy places to eat in and around KL too as long as they're not overly expensive. Anywhere less than RM 150-200 for 2 persons

Changing Stock Tyres to Wider Tyres

Hi all sifu here.. Just want to ask, my car the stock tyres is 175/65 R15 size. Is it better or recommended to go with wider and lower profile tyres such as 185/55 or 195/55 but same rim size? If so, will it affect the fuel consumption and handling?

Hey guys, just wanna ask something. When I'm driving my car and try to make a turn it makes an annoying "klak-klak-klak" sound/noise especially when its at full steering lock or close to it (both left and right directions). What can be the problem that causes this? Drive shaft?

Power Window Motor

Hey guys, just wanna enquire what the price range of a power window motor is. This morning I wound my window down to tag my access card at my apartment and then tried to wind it up but didn't go up. There was sound that something was still spinning inside but the window just won't go up.

Sent to this shop that does windscreen tinting. Asked him to check my power window. He said my motor for the power window is spoiled. Anybody has any idea how much it is to change a motor?
