(WTB) ORIGINAL IBM THINKPAD T42 T41 T40

Dear Kopitiamers,

I'm looking to buy 2x units of IBM Thinkpad model T42 for my project. If you have that model or older than that please contact me via private message.

Why does it have to be IBM Thinkpad T42? First it has to be running Intel Pentium M or Pentium 4 or below otherwise my app won't run. I'm doing an MSDOS project so to use it without VirtualBox or DosBOX I need an older CPU. Core2Duos are out because of some problems that i faced.

Condition: Must be in working order and no / minimal defects.

Budget for one unit: RM250 (2x is rm500)

Location: Kuala Lumpur / Selangor

P/s: Dear moderators, if I, posted this on the wrong category please move it to the right one

Thank you!

Hello, can you all list down some of the Malaysian IP Ranges? Because today I found this IP:

"1.9.22.155"

IP Address: 1.9.22.155
ISP: Tmnet, Telekom Malaysia Bhd.
Region: Kuala Lumpur (MY)

from http://en.utrace.de/ip-address/1.9.22.155
WHOIS: http://en.utrace.de/whois/1.9.22.155

---

Is it true that the number at the very beginning of an IPv4 address have the better internet speed and latency? Discuss.

I'm using Innacomm W3100 Wireless Modem. On the setup I have disabled T1, ADSL2 and ADSL2+. Since the last 1 month I couldn't get connected to internet using G.dmt DSL mode. last time I'm getting far higher download and upload speed, and now it's getting worst.

Last time my Upstream SNR is 20.0dB above, and now it's just 18.50dB or less. My Downstream SNR also decreased from 20.0dB above and now just 7.1dB. What's happening :3 I supposed to get 2.0 Mbps but now i just get somewhere around 1 mbps, or even less.

I missed my G.dmt :3

I have a pppoe/broadband that requires a username and password to connect to the internet. But how can I avoid users (probably limited users) from disconnecting the broadband connection? How could this is annoying me because I CAN'T EVEN FIND THIS ANYWHERE INCLUDING GOOGLE. thanks

A boring day end up with a new distro making.

Phewwww phewww phewww.. today got nothing to do. sitting in front of a boring Intel Core 2 Duo 3 GHz with 4 gigs ram. coz got nothing to do so I made my own and configured Linux flavor. the idea comes out with a brilliant result. I made a distro with XFCE 4.8, Firefox 4.0 beta 7 bla...bla..bla.. latest.

it is so good to be true (: the modification of Tiny Core is the best thing to do with patience. Tho it is more frustrating than remaking a makefile, removing an invalid header of a source, or using former MS-DOS 3 until 7.1 - and WIndows 3.0. you have to do many things. sometimes, I want to give a lovely kick on the boring Intel Core 2 Duo, but it end up with a shining premade Linux flavor. ow (: yeah. bak kata orang melayu, alang-alang menyeluk pekasam, biar sampai kepangkal lengan. hihihihi..

why does remastering Tiny Core is very hard. the answer is simple, just because it is tiny, the code are all compressed. theehee.. not the codes, but the loopback filesystem also. however, juz includes some apps to make is very lovely..

making ALSA available on Tiny Core is just like coding a program without assembler. haha, juz kidding. stucked at how to make sound available at almost 3 hours.. duh

Screenshots:

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Desktop XFCE 4.8

My created start menu

ALSA

Terminal

Some apps

Firefox 4.0 beta 7

Helix Open Source

ABIWORD

how to do it!
1. Get Tiny Core, the most difficult thing to customize.
2. Install it to your hard disk. see sub-topic #2
3. reboot, get some apps especially the window manager, or write your own and make it a tcz package to include it in module folder.
4. make some change
5. reboot with backup
6. (you have restarted the machine 2 times) after that, copy every files from /mnt/hda1 (your partition which hold Tiny Core) into a single folder in your hard disk, (eg, /mnt/hda1/blablabla)
7. ok done. oooops... got nothing to do with your partition hahaha.. we'll include it into something called ISO (I'm So Obsolete) duh
8. making an ISO is easy. figuring how to make ISOLINUX into ISO is frustrating also. (eg, directly proportional to make a from scratch OS with Assembly theehee) just kidding, if you are lazy to figure out how to get ISOLINUX in the ISO, download mine from my Google Code project hosting.
9. then, copy everything inside the "blablabla" folder into the ISO. (duh, how to include into the ISO? figure out your self bitttt.. just kidding. get MagicISO to do dat).. save the iso file. in the iso file SHOULD have 2 folder, "BOOT" and "TCE". in the "BOOT" folder contains a boot files, GRUB and ISOLINUX. then in the "TCE" folder should have "OPTIONAL" folder that contains packages you have downloaded plus default packages.
10. done. you should jump off through the balcony because the distro making guide has ended on step 9.
11. dead already

subtopic route 666 (How to install Tinycore into hard disk, either on a real boring Core 2 Duo or a fascinating VirtualBox ./atau Komputer Khayalan)
1. on the bloodyh33l stinky desktop look of TinyCore, open Appbrowser
2. search for cfdisk.tcz, then click GO button (Go means Install, OK~), then do the same on grub-0.97-splash.tcz
3. if everything is ok, then open stink terminal
4. type "sudo su" to be a dictator (or Kuku Besi). some argue that we can even be H0sni Mub4rak that wins every stages with the power of SUDO
5. type fdisk -l for no reason
6. type "cfdisk /dev/hda" is '1', 'c' is '2', 'd' is '3', etc.
n corresponds to a number from '0', which represents '1' for y.
Subtract 1 from y to get n.
'1' becomes '0', '2' becomes '1', '3' becomes '2', etc.
Since this guide is using hda1 for hdXy, this means that (hdM,n) is (hd0,0)
and that the use of hda for hdX means (hdM) is (hd0)

In the grub prompt,
root (hd0,0)
setup (hd0)
quit

21. type umount /mnt/hdc, then eject /dev/hdc
22. reboot then completed!!!!!!!!!!!!!! continue step 3 on the guide.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODDDDDD LUCK!!

[addedon]February 16, 2011, 1:18 am[/addedon]ooooops, forgot to give you all my configured/ ready to use configured TIny Linux. just go to my project page at http://simplelinux.my/beta/core.html. and don't forget to like our FB fanpage also www.facebook.com/simpleLinux
