The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is now available in Malaysia after the global launch. Any idea whether Vivo X300 Ultra will also have a global launch and eventually sold in Malaysia?

A note on the primary sensor. In the article above, it was mentioned, " Moreover, the publication cited a vivo representative who said that the company cannot yet disclose the primary camera sensor, which will likely play a key role in advancing the device’s video capabilities."

However, in ChatGPT it was mentioned that the size of the primary sensor will be 1/1.12″ (Sony LYT-901 CMOS). Any thoughts if the size of the sensor in the Vivo X300 Ultra will eventually be 1/1.12"? It's still smaller than the 1" type sensor in the Xiaomi 17 Ultra though.

Any Good Cendol Other Than Sistas Kitchen in PJ

Looking for good Cendol in Klang Valley preferably closer to KL. We find the Cendol at Sistas Kitchen ( https://maps.app.goo.gl/s5TvdmCn1JLZLEFGA ) to be wonderful, rich gula melaka and aromatic santan without any weird taste. There are also groundnuts included in the cendol which provide an added crunch.

Tried few roadside stalls which sell rojak and cendol but unfortunately the cendol does not taste good although they received great reviews . It's not only too diluted without any gula melaka or santan taste (it tastes more like water actually) but there is a weird taste also with the cendol which I bought just today. I packed 2 packets back home and after trying a spoonful, all the cendol went to the dustbin.

Back to point, looking for good cendol recommendations in Klang Valley, preferably closer to KL city centre with almost similar quality as Sistas Kitchen, or better. Ideally sold in restaurants or shoplots instead of the roadside.

This video on Khairul Amin's Rembayung just came up on Youtube and it looked pretty good especially the kuihs. Has anyone tried the food at Rembayung which I presume is just newly opened? The kuihs look good and I'm interested to know if they are delicious. Has anyone tried the food or the kuihs?

I would also appreciate if there are recommendations on places which sell good kuih Melayu such as the ones served at Rembayung.

Any thoughts if there will be a global launch for Ultra models from Oppo, Vivo and Xiaomi where they will be sold in Malaysia in due time? Specifially models as below with indication of the rumoured high-range sensors.

I just go to know about this Oppo X9 Ultra earlier this week. The primary camera is said to use Sony's newly announced LYTIA 901 sensor, a 200-megapixel unit measuring 1/1.12 inches, paired with a 23mm focal length lens. Any information if there will be a global launch with this phone with a possibility of it being sold in Malaysia?

The 1/1.12" sensor is the main selling point for me.

How To Utilise Balance in Touch n Go Card

Is there any way to utilise the balance in a Touch n Go card within a short period? I am having trouble to terminate the card and have the amount refunded to me despite having contacted the Customer service through phone. The Touch n Go Live Chat is not helping at all.

The type of Touch n Go card is 'Watsons'. The Touch n Go customer service lady mentioned that I can only use the card in Watsons to purchase items and not anywhere else. So that's it? Other than using the card to pay tolls and purchase items at Watsons, there is no other way to utilise the balance in the Touch N Go card? Regrettably the balance in the card can't be transferred to e-wallet or any other bank accounts.

Xiaomi 17 Ultra, 1" Type Sensor - Global Launch?

I've read about the Xiaomi 17 Ultra which will come with a 1-inch Type Sensor earlier this week. Apparently there will be a global launch with this set it seems. Any thoughts if it will eventually come to Malaysia by early to mid of next year if that's true?

There are some videos on Youtube where Xiaomi Official site indicates that there will be a global launch with this phone. It would be interesting to compare the Leica 1"-Type sensor in the 17 Ultra to some of its closest competitor which would be the X300 Pro or Ultra, though there is no indication that there will be a global launch with the latter. Nevertheless, the X300 Ultra's sensor at 1/1.12" is still smaller than the 1"-Type sensor in the Xiaomi 17 Ultra.

I have no clear preference between Leica and Zeiss lens in the Xiaomi and Vivo phones respectively as the quality of photos or videos will ultimately be down to the implementation rather than outright type of lens used. Nevertheless, based on sample images on the internet, I have a slight preference to images produced by the Zeiss lens as they look slightly brighter and more natural while the Leica more saturated and stronger colours.

Artificial Intelligence Replacing Actors In Movies

I'm not sure if AI has been implemented in movies already, perhaps not full-scale yet and just small-scale. I'm not referring to AI-generated characters replacing human background actors in movies but more to AI generated main characters. Imagine AI-generated Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt or Keanu Reeves. Quality of actors or actresses which require skills to act, perhaps AI may soon replace these main actors in movies and when the time comes people in the entertainment industry may be out of jobs?

I'm beginning to witness some AI created videos on Youtube, fake videos, and it sometimes take some effort and skills to differentiate between genuine and fake videos. Sometimes the differences are indistinguishable. Any thoughts on the large-scale adoption of AI in movies in the near future where main characters will also be AI generated? In other words, humans are only involved in the production but not the acting.

Dealing With Elderly Parents Who Require Care

I have read this thread earlier but didn't post any response since I usually don't participate in threads where people deal with their own problems themselves. I now noticed the thread is closed and people can't post in there anymore.

I find this subject fascinating, the care of elderly people. Obviously people don't discuss it a lot in forums as it's a sensitive subject, and it involves people who we love and care about. Basically everyone would have to deal with it sooner or later so I presume everyone would have had their fair share of difficulties or problems if that crop up. It would be good or fortunate if seniors in their 70s or 80s are in good health, able to walk and care for themselves until their twilight years. However, not everyone is lucky, and as shown here the situation is further exacerbated with financial difficulties which vary with families.

I know it's easier said than done. Despite all the difficulties, I would think that when the time comes, it is best that the parents who are facing difficulties live with their children. Even if the children are financially able and can afford to send the parents to old folks home, I don't think it's the best place to be and staying with the children is best. Only send to old folks home as the last resort when everything is not possible.

As for every sibling contributing to the costs of caring of the elderly, that is an obligation but chances are some won't be contributing due to financial difficulties as they struggle to feed their own family. However difficult it can be, I believe everyone ought to contribute even though it may be a small sum. Ultimately everyone will have their own way of doing things and relationships or ties between siblings are often severed when things like this happen.

The purpose of this poll is to seek people's preferences on the care of the elderly. Where would you send your elderly parents who require care when the time comes. You may feel your choice is ideal or the best but in reality it may not be achievable, and that's comprehensible. As a side-note, I once received a video via Whatsapp about two years ago on the situation with old folks home, a guy explaining on the real situation with these homes. I've forgotten the details but it's not very good.

How Many Hours Of Sleep For Not Getting Headaches

Just doing a survey on sleep patterns as I noticed some people have less sleeping less hours. Young people in their twenties or early to mid thirties may cope better in the sense that they do not experience any headaches or health complications even if getting less sleep or no sleep at all. If I have less than 6 hours of sleep I will usually get headaches and don't feel good throughout the day, so I'm curious how do other people cope.

As the title of the thread suggests, how many hours of sleep do you require for a night to not get any headaches.

Spam Calls- Any Danger With Access Of Bank Details

Just curious if there is anyone here receiving spam calls from unknown individuals. Sometimes the calls are local, sometimes they are from another country. Earlier today I received another spam call. After I pressed the button on my phone to receive the call, the person who made the call hung up. Below is a snapshot of the caller.

I was just wondering if there is any danger of unknown people or strangers calling, if they are able to gain access to bank details stored inside the phone. The phone rings, and when you pick up the call the person who made the call ends the call.

Has anyone here have a long-term experience with all the lenses as shown in the picture above? Which one feels best to you?

Currently I'm on Bifocal lenses and have been using this type of lens for many years, perhaps 15 years. I changed the lenses due to increased power requirements about 4 years ago but retained the bifocal type of lenses. Although vision generally improved, the difference in power between nearfield and farfield of the lenses is somewhat greater, and I"m not sure if the constant swapping between nearfield and farfield has accelerated the deterioration of the vision in both nearfield and farfield. Seems like I now don't need to wear glasses when reading or looking at the computer screen as it makes little difference. As a matter of fact I now find the vision to be clearer and better without glasses than wearing glasses when looking at the computer screen, particularly reading a text. For the past 1 or 2 years I have not been wearing any glasses when looking at the computer screen as I find the vision to be worse, the text blurred when wearing glasses!

Does anyone experience the same? I only wear glasses when I'm out or driving. But whenever I'm on the computer or need to read a text from a document or paper, I need to take off my glasses for clearer vision. Seems like the nearfield lens is now useless.

Now the next question is should I go out and get a pair of new glasses and if yes, what type of glasses? I suspect the previous change in power with the bifocal lenses which increased the difference in power between nearfield and farfield has caused my eyesight to deteriorate and got to a worse state. Having said that, it doesn't sound really bad as I now don't need to use glasses when on the computer or reading papers. It's only when I look at the very small text printed on a small piece of paper, box or packaging, I can't see those small text and need to use my handphone's camera to zoom in to those unreadable text.

Any thoughts?

New 2-Storey Terrace at Alam Damai/Damai Perdana

I'm looking at new launching of 2-storey terrace at Alam Damai or Bandar Damai Perdana area (closer to Alam Damai than further down the road), budget around RM1.2 mil or slightly higher. Only new launching sold by developers and not new houses with inflated prices sold by agents.

I was previously looking at The Courtyard at Bandar Damai Perdana, new houses with 95% completion. The original selling price was ~rm1.2 mil and it's now being sold at 1.4 mil by agents.

If anyone has any information of new launching I would appreciate any information. Ideally at Alam Damai/Bandar Damai Perdana but it can be somewhere else close to the area and not further out from KL.

Best Lozenges For Cough and Phlegm or Sore Throat

Would like to seek experiences on which is the best lozenges to help with temporary relief for cough partly caused by phlegm sticking to the throat. I've tried the common ones which include Fisherman's Friend and Strepsils, so far prefer Fisherman's Friend. If there are any other better or more effective lozenges please recommend.

I usually don't take cough syrup and would avoid it as it will cause drowsiness. There are tablets for phlegm but it does not help with cough, and lozenges are the best solution.

Cheap Wifi / Home Fibre Options

I'm currently looking for cheap options of home wifi. It doesn't really matter if it's router running on SIM card or broadband fibre. Requirement is ideally unlimited data, speed of connection is not so important.

Currently the top two are Maxis and Unifi. Are there any other options or alternatives that I may not be aware of?

With Unifi cheapest broadband fibre plan is RM89

With Maxis cheapest wifi plan is RM79

Also, I heard from someone that Maxis will offer promotion from time to time with cheap wifi or fibre plans. Does anyone have any information on this?
