monkey idioms for monkey ministers

I was reading The Star Online and found this article. Seems like a lot of monkey idioms fits the current government and the top ministers.

QUOTE

The idiom sha ji jing hou means, “kill the chicken to frighten the monkey” and equates to punishing a person to frighten others or making an example out of someone as a warning or lesson to others. There are two stories associated with this idiom – one is a folklore while the other, a historical anecdote.

According to the folklore, a street performer had a monkey which danced to the rhythm of drum beats and earned much money for his master. One day, it refused to perform. The master slaughtered a chicken to frighten it. The monkey got the message and never defied his master again.

Here are other Chinese idioms associated with the monkey that Chan has picked out:

> Shan shang wu lao hu, hou zi cheng dai wang (Translation: If there is no tiger in the mountain, the monkey can rule as king)
Meaning: If there are no capable people around to play the role or perform the job, anyone can be a replacement.

> Long gui diao hou (Disturb the devil, throw things at the monkey)
Meaning: A naughty and mischievous person.

> Hou zi jiu yue (Monkey rescuing the moon)
Meaning: Don’t be a busybody if you don’t want any backlash.

> Hou tou hou nao (Monkey’s head, monkey’s brain)
Meaning: An agitated person who cannot sit still.

> Wu ma liu hou (Five horses, six monkeys)
Meaning: Someone who does not follow the rules or cannot be controlled.

> Yuan hou qui yue (Monkey plucking the moon)
Meaning: A naive attempt where all efforts will be in vain.

> Hou zi bo shi (Monkey knocking at the target)
Meaning: A person who likes to show off and thinks he is brilliant. Such a person can easily be cheated.

> Mu hou er guan (Monkey wearing human clothes)
Meaning: A worthless person in imposing attire. This idiom is demeaning and hints at abuse of power to get to one’s position.

> Ji ci mu hou (Using thorns to cut the female monkey)
Meaning: A conman or someone performing difficult tasks.

> Tu long mu hou (Earth dragon giving monkey a shower)
Meaning: Similar to the saying, “Empty vessels make the loudest sound”. A person who likes to show off but actually has no talent.

> Xuan he guan hou (Crane sits on a chariot, monkey wears an official’s hat)
Meaning: A person who abuses his power when in authority.

> Jian zui hou sai (Sharp mouth, cheeks like a monkey’s)
Meaning: An ugly person.

source: http://www.star2.com/living/2016/02/11/mon...ng-with-idioms/

Rain Gutter

anyone have contacts for contractors installing rain gutter?

My thought is to install the PVC type instead of the usual galvanised steel. A lot of problem with shoddy rivet and seals.
I've made a couple of checks but all of them only install the galvanised steel type.

If you've installed rain gutters recently, could you also let me know how much did it cost you? What's the length of the roof, or at least the width of your property?

Sliding Glass Door

I'm renovating my house at the moment.

I intend to install a tempered glass partition over at the shower area. It would start from the end of the sink countertop (concrete long bench type) and a entrance door.

[attachmentid=4242405]

However I don't want to install a swinging glass door. I intend to install a towel hanger on right side wall and that would get in the way of the swing door.

Anyone have experience with sliding door type? If you have installed it before, what your experience and observation? Anyone have used trackless glass partitions before? Any recommended vendor?

I'm staying around Balakong area.

[attachmentid=4242400]

[attachmentid=4242401]
