Asus G551JM vs A550JK

Hi all,

Currently I'm trying to decide between these two notebook models:

1. Asus G551JM-DM052H
2. Asus A550JK-DM138H

What I'm trying to find out is what is the significance difference between these two to justify the different pricing?

So far the only difference I see is the graphic card, aside from the design. Is G551JM worth the extra buck?

Engineering 3D modelling, light gaming

Reusing Internal HDD as External HDD

Hi,

I have an internal hdd that I took out from an old laptop that I think it can still be used. How do I make it into an external hdd?

After some googling around, I think what is said to be need is a SATA-USB adapter. Is this all that is needed and can anyone give me some advice or things to look out for?

Decent Companies for Internships

Hi, I am a Mechanical Engineering student in my second year. I'll be having the opportunity to do my internship by the end of this year as well as the middle of next year. What I am concerned about is I would prefer to be attached to a company that will enable me to grow and learn. As the time I have for this year-end is limited, I have found, but not yet applied, some companies accepting internships for 2 months, I am not picky about this. But regarding the one I have in mind for the middle of next year, most of the companies that I know of offers 4-6 months of internship, but I only have time for 3 months.

So I would like to see if anyone has any good experience in any company that you think is worth being shared here. Or any companies to avoid, for that matter. I am not aware of any other thread that discusses this, if there is, please direct me there. Thank you.

PS: Umm, I think I may have worded things a bit wrongly here. What I meant was a chance for relevant task, I am not looking for high pay, big MNC companies or glorified jobs.

I'm trying to connect an AX-11 microcontroller to my pc using the USB to RS-232 cable.

When I'm prompted to choose what communications port, what should I put?
The location of the USB port is Port_#0001.Hub_#0004.

Extend Partition Volume

My C drive is almost full and I want to extend it.

Using the Disk Management tool in Windows 7, I shrunk my D drive to get some un-allocated space but I can't extend my C drive.
The option to "extend" volume for the C drive is grey-ed out.

Any solutions?

Hi,

I am a first time flyer and I'm not sure what items i cannot bring on board. Airasia's site only list the obvious stuff like explosives etc.

I'm given to know that I cannot bring any liquid more than 100ml, does this apply to toiletries like toothpaste, facewash, shampoo?

Are there any other items that people would normally use but is prohibited?

Change laptop LCD screen now it's all reddish?

So I bought a new lcd screen and changed it myself.

But no matter what i adjust, the screen is reddish in color?

Hi there, I have an Acer 4740G and it has an almost 2-inch wide vertical line down the screen. I've connected my pc to an external monitor and it was fine.

I've followed numerous guides for troubleshooting the problem and finally I decided to open up the lcd panel to check for loose or faulty connections.

This is what I've found:

The LCD cable connects to a circuit board at the back of the screen which then connects to the screen.
The connection from the circuit board to the screen is what intrigues me.

1. When completely removed, the screen dims, but you still can see the desktop as well as the vertical lines.
2. When moved/tweaked, the vertical lines change colors and sometimes the screen changes brightness.

I managed to tweak it just right such that the vertical lines completely disappear. But sadly, I can't seem to do it again.

In addition to that, on very rare occasions when I start up my pc, the lines are not there, but will appear again if I move the screen.

Does anyone know what is that connection for? And what might be the real cause of my problem?

Any help/advice is appreciated.

Can't sleep but not tired

I can't seem to sleep these pass few days, and funny as it seems, I don't feel tired at all.
As much as I try to, at most I can lie in bed, but my head is buzzing all the time until it's morning.

Along with this inability to fall asleep, is I have loss my appetite. I even can't finish a full serving of rice.
And I do exercise about 3-5 days a week.

Generally, I am a person who finds sleep a bit difficult to come by, but this is way out of the norm.
I actually have experienced this once before, during my SPM trials.
And now I am having my college exam, I don't feel stressed at all, and have just completed one paper with relative ease.

Does this condition have a name? So that I may further find out how to overcome it.
