Test work, is it normal?

I applied for a job and at first they didn’t tell me that I’m required to do a test work(to design book cover in 4 formats) within a week. They asked for my portfolio & asked a few other questions. They said they’re a US-based company & will open a company in KL so communication is through online for now. I sent him my portfolio then he said he liked what he saw, then asked me to do the test work. The problem is I couldn’t find much info on this company and I saw the same job posting using another company name on other job sites. I asked him before to tell me more about the company but instead of telling me he asked me to do the test work and said he got 80+ applications. My intuition is telling me no but I wanna hear from others if this is normal and I should do it?

Important things to note:
- He said the test work is an already published book on Amazon & showed me the book cover file. So it doesn’t look like he’s asking for free work.
- I have book cover designs in my portfolio so it doesn’t make sense that he needs another test to see if I can design book covers.

I need recommendation coz my Dell died.

Guys, I need a recommendation for a good shop at lowyat or anywhere in KL/Selangor that can help me fix my Dell PC or retrieve my data, or give me good professional advices. I have a really old XPS8300 that wouldn’t start yesterday. It keeps beeping at 5x interval. I checked with Dell and they told me it’s either CMOS battery failure or motherboard problem. Coz it’s so old they said they probably don’t have the parts and if it’s motherboard, might as well I buy a new computer 😪. Problem is I don’t know where to go to get it checked or fixed. I don’t wanna get ripped off coz I know nothing about technical stuff. So if any of you have a good recommendation please let me know as I’m going to Sg Wang area today so it’s easy to hop over to Lowyat if necessary. Thaaaannnkkss!

How to produce art prints? Where to buy paper?

I'm thinking of making art prints for sale but I'm finding it impossible to buy good paper to print them on. I researched a bit online and most artists print on acid-free/archival paper and I couldn't find them anywhere in Klang Valley. So I'd like to ask all of you who have experience with art prints. What paper do you print on? Where do you buy them? I'm thinking of selling them at art bazaars and online.

Maybe you'll ask me to go to a printer outside. Any good recommendation? I won't close that possibility but I'd love to be able to do it myself. Besides I just bought a Canon MG7770 and hope to print some decent illustrations with it.

InDesign question

I've never used InDesign before but I wanna try creating something like the image, a Tibetan-styled book. My question is when I create the pages, do I create a document with the exact measurement I want or do I need to create crop marks for the printer? If yes then how do I do it in InDesign? I saw someone did an A5 book once with InDesign and he only created the pages exactly as A5 without any crop marks. It's ok to send to printer that way?

Ghost King Tuck?

I just thought of sharing this interesting story but you gotta understand Chinese to enjoy the video. It's about Nancy Sit telling a story of a ghost-buster she knew in Malaysia long time ago called Ghost King Tuck(literally translated coz I dunno what's his name in English). The people in the show were saying that this Ghost King Tuck was famous for catching ghosts and also able to make ordinary people see ghosts from within a drawn circle. This man was famous but suffered a tragic end. Apparently he's quite big-sized and was invited to HK once to catch a ghost from a house/building and managed to do so after 3 days and brought the ghost back to Malaysia. However, when Nancy Sit went to interview him after some time, she was shocked to find him very thin and sickly. She also saw that there were jars of err...dunno how to say that...some kinda bones(used to keep spirits)? Not long after, he died. Then another sifu on the show said that he heard that Ghost King Tuck had a terrible death, that at the time of death, his body had many cuts and was rotting quickly. He heard that it's because he spent so many years catching ghosts, that at the time of death, he lost his energy and those spirits all went to attack him. And even his children didn't have a good life after because they wanted to sell his knowledge/stuff for profit.

Anyway that's just the story roughly. I heard about the sifu on the show(Master Szeto), on Radio 988 this morning so went to Youtube to check out who he is, then bumped into this video. I can't read Chinese so it would be nice if any Chinese reader can translate or give a summary of what the video poster wrote.

Here's the link:
Link

Oh I actually also wanted to ask if anyone has heard of this ghost-buster before? I find his story fascinating.

Smallest air-cond?

The air-cond point in my new house's bedroom is right above the window and the wall space on top of the window is very narrow. I was told that I need to find an air-cond that is ideally less than 9 or 10 inches in height. Otherwise, need to drag the point to somewhere further on another side of wall but that would be ugly. I went to an electrical shop, he doesn't sell air-cond as small as that. I wanna ask if it's possible to find it? Please tell me where if can, thanks!

Anyone heard of this developer?

Anyone heard of Fleet Superior Sdn Bhd or Fleet Century Development Sdn Bhd? I tried to Google for their website but got nothing. I read that they're the developer for The Istara Condo in PJ and has been in this field for 30 years but how come no website at all? I asked because I saw the Sommerset Close townvillas at Suria Permaisuri near the Loke Yew roundabout. Look nice to me because I like colonial style houses and the location is near places that my family go often. I Googled for more info on Sommerset Close too and it's really strange. I get not much info(only outdated info) and am confused as to the dates of completion. One site said completion estimated in 2008, another site said 2009/2010(I forgot) and another said July 2011. It was supposed to launch in 2006. So why so long to complete?? I went to the site today and the guard told me "Sudah siap." But I saw it's only like 90-95% completed as the name's not up yet and the guardhouse looks incomplete and there are still construction material at the ground floor near the guardhouse. So my mom called the agent listed on their brochure and tomorrow we're gonna view the houses. So I'll see what info I can get from her. But in the meantime, anyone knows anything about this? Need to be careful and aware...

Update
Well, we went and checked out the houses. Very, very poor workmanship and they're asking for almost 500k for 1 1/2 storey house and more than 600k for a 2 1/2 storey house. It looks beautiful from outside but on closer inspection you can easily see that it's really bad. I heard that they changed contractors many times. I guess that's why...

1 Petaling Residences & Commerz

1 Petaling looks quite interesting especially because of its location. And it was developed by a subsidiary of Berjaya Land Bhd. It's one of my choices for a home but I have some considerations too. There's a low cost flat beside it so I'm not sure what kind of community will there be and I asked an agent who told me that the shops downstairs are all sold out. Which leads me to wonder what kind of shops will they open there. If it's snooker center for eg, then it's not so nice for my family. The location is nice though, very convenient as it leads to many highways and near to Sg Besi LRT station and the building itself looks alright to me. I wasn't able to go into the building to view the rooms as they haven't obtain the CF(agent said will get within these few days) yet.

Anyone knows more about this property or location? I'd like to hear some advices from all you property pros - think it's good to own as a home?

Here's some info I found from iproperty.com --> 1 Petaling Review
