And is my set up right?

Hi,

Planning to get a new router for my parents.

using standard router from maxis.

the router is located on the 3rd floor, and the signal keeps on dropping every now and then.
and the signal seems to be pretty bad at most places of the house.

I have very little knowledge when it comes networking.

would appreciate if LYN sifus could recommend me a router, planning to get tp link archer c7, but if u guys have any better recommendation, please do not hesitate to let me know.

PC takes multiple try to boot

Hi,

My pc cant seem to boot normally. sometimes it would take multiple try to boot and sometimes it wont boot at all.

Ive swapped my RAMS one by one, nothing seems to be working.

Specification:

CPU: i5 760 (i know its old. planning to change soon)
MOBO: Biostar H55B-HD
Rams: 16gb Kingston Savage (4gb x 4)
GPU: GTX1070 G1 Gaming
PSU: Coolermaster Pro Gold 800W semi modular (5 - 6 years)

Would appreciate if anyone knows whats the problem.

When i turn on the pc, the fans would spin (100%) lights all on but nothing would appear on screen, wont even get into the BIOS screen.

and also when ever i switch on the PC, it will switch on for few seconds, switch off and then it will switch on again.

my temperature is around during idle is around high 30c during load is around mid 40c

just wondering if this is normal

I am planning to build a new rig, would very much appreciate if you could give your feedback on the parts.

Basically im going for MATX build. it is going to be a gaming rig that is going to be hook up to my TV in a living room.

im really clueless when it comes to home theatre system, but i want to give it a try.

my main purpose is purely for movies and gaming (are there any other reason.?)

my question is, what should i be looking for when it comes to getting a receiver and the speakers.?

a friend of mine recommended me getting the Yamaha RX-V379, whats the difference between Dolby TRUEHD and Dolby Digital Plus.?

if u guys have any other recommendation, please do not hesitate.

Upgrade or New Rig.?

Hi,

Recently i've decided to start playing games again, so im thinking of upgrading my rig, current rig set up is as below

Proc: i5 760
Mobo: Asus P7P-55-DE-Pro
GPU: MSI Lightning 5870
HDD: 500GB Can't remember what brand
SSD: None
PSU: CM GX650
RAM: 4GB Corsair Value

Right now, what im thinking is that maybe I should upgrade some of the items, such as

OPTION 1:
GPU: Thinking of going for the 390x or the 980 (or maybe should wait for Polaris.?)
RAM: Add another 8GB
PSU: Better PSU, maybe Corsair RM750 (if possible want to get a modular PSU)
SSD: Add a SSD for the OS

OPTION 2:
Build a new rig, but thinking of going for MATX form.
The only thing i'll be saving will be the HDD

Budget for new rig: MAX RM9000, less is better (Just the rig, no monitor no nothing)

Purely for gaming, not interested in OC-ing
Planning to play on 2560x1080 monitor

What do u guys think.?

I have a question, currently im using unifi default router, and using homeplug direct connection to my desktop, im just wondering, if i were to upgrade my router, would it affect wired connection, or it would only improve wireless connections only.

Hey guys, i have couple of questions that maybe you guys can help me out with.

im planning to get a 5.1 system (if possible not HTiB), but my budget is around rm2000.
but i have no clue on what to look for.

the set up is going to be in my living room. (which is fairly small).
from what ive checked, some of shops recommend to go for a soundbar.

its not a closed room, and it is fairly small. the distance from the sofa to the TV is roughly around 4feet.

Hey guys, would like to know ur opinion.

thinking of upgrading my rig.

currently
Proc: i5 760
MOBO: cant really remember need to double check
ram: 4gb
PSU: GX650
GPU: msi lightning 5870

initially wanna change my GPU to R9 280x or R9 290 (kinda need some opinion on this too)
but not sure if i should change my proc and mobo too, because it might be a little bit outdated and might cause bottle neck.

what do u guys think.?

if u guys have any recommendations, please do not hesitate. for example, switching to GTX 770.
