accessing server/terminal

Hi experts ,

I hope i have created this post in the right subforum.

Anyway, my questions goes like this:

we are connected in a domain , and i have a pc trying to connect to another pc under the name test.contoso.com

if i connect via \\test.contoso.com it works, but if i connect via just \\test , nothing happens.
Anyway or anywhere i can set this so that i can connect to the "test" machine without having to key in the FQDN?

Is it advisable?

Loan interest is 10.5% per annum, Credit Card interest is 1.5% p/month (which adds up to 18%) annually.
