Myvi 1.3X or 1.5H

Should I get 1.3 or 1.5 for my wife? The difference is RM3700 for these 2 model and the extra money gives you:

1. 1.5 engine
2. 15in RIM
3. Bodykit
4. 6 airbags (instead of 4 on 1.3)
5. Tng reader

My wife is 90% city drive and won't use toll and 1 month only pump petrol 1 time and it is just a transport to work. Sometimes will fetch people but mostly just for work. Based on her needs the 1.3X should be more than enough so the extra RM3700 is just for looks. We don't really care much about the bodykit but the 1.5H RIM looks nicer.

Sony Bravia Youtube ceased to work

Hi,

I am using Sony Bravia TV W800B 50 inch. My TV Youtube App suddenly not working but the internet is fine because TV browser is working so not internet issue. If I did the factory reset the Youtube will be back working but after a few hours it ceased to work again.

I have checked forums stated that the Smart function eg Youtube App might ceased to function if Youtube decided to upgrade their backend service. Sony had famously retired the youtube app from many models a few years back due to the same reason. So the SMART features that included during purchased might be gone after a few years.

So my question is did anyone of you have this problem before? I do not want to do factory reset every time to watch youtube and so far no solution is working for me.

Water Filter

[attachmentid=6795511]

Hi, my parent got this drinking water filter in my parent house and they bought it >15yrs ago and they being keep on changing the ceramic+carbon cartridge (see image unit 2) every 1-2 years. However, they never change another unit (see image unit 1) which output the water. I was wondering what is the use of the second unit because I think it should be replace too but my parent didn't replace it and the unit looks like sealed. This water filter unit do not have brand printed because it was sold by walk-in salesman and no way for us to contact the company anymore. I tried ask a few smaller water filter shop but none know what is the unit (1).

So I was wondering, anyone in this forum know what is the purpose of unit (1) and does it need to be replace? If not I need to buy another new one which to replace this water unit.

Ceiling hairline crack

Hi guys,

My new house is a two storey terrace and the ceiling is finished with sand cement plaster instead of skim coat. The living area and dining area combined is around 10X30 sqft and lately i notice there is a hairline cracks along the center of the ceiling which i think the place they conceal wire piping which they did when construct the RC slab. The crack is around 27ft long but not fully connected crack) I don't have any picture because my dad already patched it but lately got extra hairline crack appear from the side of the wall and no it didn't extend down the wall, just ceiling only. So I was wondering what usually causing the crack? Sorry no picture because my dad already patch all.

1) New house and stay around 8months.
2) Car porch also sand cement plaster but no crack.
3) Hairline crack (Less than 1mm looks like hair)

Suspect:

1) Shrinkage of plaster
2) Movement of the house settling because the house is newly build.
3) Overweight on top? No extra weight added since move in because everything almost same.

Balcony Leakage

Hi guys,

My house was done 6 months ago and no issue so far until yesterday heavy raining causing leakage inside my house. I have drawn a picture to explain the leakage area (leakage is inside the house, not outside). FYI, I extend the front by 4ft then extend the balcony. So it is not joining old and new structure. The beam and wall are new but somehow the leakage is happened.

Based on the reply from another post:
https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/3003371/all

I summarize it to 2 possible solution:

1) Re-tiles the whole balcony + waterproofing
2) Re-tile the nearest part which join the balcony and house structure. Break a single tiles and waterproofing there only.

I prefer solution (2) but is it possible to do it this way? Or is there a better way?

The telephone cable need to be extend to move it to another slot to connect.

My question is.

1) It is possible to extend the cable by joining the existing from the wall with new cable?
2) Will it affect the signal, etc?
3) What is the best way to do this?
This should be the 3rd things I ask in this forum and you guys really helped me a lot by giving me good advices on my previous problem. Ok this is the 3rd one:

I got a new toilet on the first floor of my house from my extension and the size is 6ft x 4ft3in. Height is around 7ft10in to 8ft until the ceiling. So here the issue, got 3 types of ceiling proposed by various ppl:

1) timber wood (mostly plywood) - Looks natural
2) normal plaster ceiling - recommend by contractor
3) asbestos

As I know, normal plaster ceiling is cheaper and is it suitable for toilet? Or I need to use Asbestos if wanna for this case.

Cutting concrete beam

I'm renovating my double storey house from timber floor to concrete slap. I also extending the kitchen by another 6feet to the back garden. So my problem now is after extend the kitchen, you will see a concrete beam between the new kitchen and the old kitchen (the beam is old wall beam). The beam is 23inches height and very low and it block the light between new and old kitchen. FYI, the 2 steel in the beam is at 22'. I want to cut the beam smaller to around 14inches? My contractor said shouldn't be a bit problem and won't collapse. If cut the beam instead of 4 steel (2 top and 2 bottom), the bottom one will be remove. It is ok to cut it? Anyone facing this problem before?

Skim coat or cement plaster?

Hi guys,

I'm in the middle of renovating my house where my whole first floor is replace from wood to concrete floor. The ground floor ceiling need to be either skim coat or cement plaster becoz I dont want to put plaster board. The contractor suggest using skim coat becoz the finishing is nicer but my uncle which handle the renovation progress said want to apply cement plaster. According to my uncle, cement plaster is more expensive work and more better because he claim skim coat after a few years the powder will drop from the ceiling and inhale by us can be dangerous.

So, I wanna ask you guys whether skim cost is really that bad. As I know plasterboard also got doing skimming but is it use the same skim coat material?
