planning to get 1TB hard disk. Which one is recommended, hitachi or western digital? pls advise..

Hard disk crash

Hi All,

I have a 3.5" 500G sata hard disk. brand is seagate. The hard disk contains years of data, audio & photo collection. The hard disk does not have any OS in it and have few partitions.

The hard disk is not readable. I have tried few methods as below:

1. connect the hard disk to external HDD casing. when I connect it to my laptop, the PC hangs. Left it overnight and it is the same.

2. Connect the hard disk as a secondary drive on my desktop. Well, the windows on the machine could not load. it hangs at startup.

3. Connected the hard disk as primary and boot up with windows XP installer CD. Once the XP installer detects the HDD size and then it hangs.

From what i noticed, the BIOS does detect the HDD. Now , wondering whats wrong with it...

experts and friends out there pls help. Any place with affordable price can recover all the data?

hi,

My PC Spec

Asus P5BE plus motherboard
Dualcore 2.8 pentium
3G Ram
Nvidia GForce 7600GT 256MB

2 days back the pc does not want to boot up. I can see all the fan's spinning at full speed, the motherboard light goes from blue (standby) to red (in-use?) but after that, the light goes to blue again. and this pattern continues.

Tried replace PSU & graphic card, still same..

Need some assistance here.. thanks in advance.
