Mandalorian Season 4 Cancelled As Disney Plans To Turn It Into A Film!

We are, of course, talking about the Mandalorian. This western take on a traditionally sci-fi franchise was a breath of fresh air for fans, as it not only expanded the scope of the Star Wars franchise (as if it wasn’t massive enough), but also rekindled the joy of exploring each destination for fans. However, due to the massive writer’s strike that’s happening in America, it seems like season 4 of the show needs to take a backseat – but the alternative presented seems to be a lot more promising.

For those unaware, Disney has already been hinting at at least three different Mandalorian movies for the coming years, one of which involves Daisy Ridley reprising her role as Rey and trying to rebuild the Jedi Order; another film on how the original order came to be; and another that’s meant to close out Din Djrain, Ashoka Tano’s story, and the Mando-verse (the Mandalorian series) altogether.

However, plans change when life throws curveballs at you, and no one is spared. Studios are feeling the pinch as the Writers Guild of America strike has been going on for three months now and shows no signs of slowing down; if anything, it is picking up steam. Because of this, studios are forced to rethink their various projects, including Disney. Thus, information has been leaked stating that studio executives have chosen to make the fourth season of The Mandalorian into a movie in order to improve the visual experience of the fans.

It’s no surprise that the stories of The Mandalorian and Ashoka Tano are closely intertwined. The two television seasons required to set up Dave Filoni’s movie, The Mandalorian Season 4 and Ahsoka Season 2, may find it challenging to be completed in time, according to the leak. As a result, The Mandalorian Season 4 might be condensed into a film that debuts after Rey’s sequel, which will not happen until May 2026.

Though the wait might be longer for various reasons, this might be something The Mandalorian needs right now. The leap from season 1 and 2’s almost episodic narratives to a larger-than-life continuous adventure in season 3 was quite a jump for some viewers, and the film might be the one to reconcile both narratives in one cinematic experience.

Clock Tower is getting Remastered

Survival horror fans, rejoice! The Super Famicom classic, Clock Tower, is getting remastered for modern consoles.
In an LRG3 presentation event held by Limited Run Games today, the company confirmed that a remaster was in the works and development is a collaboration effort between Capcom, Sunsoft, WayForward, and Limited Run. This remaster also marks the first time the original Clock Tower game will see an official release outside of Japan, which up until this point only had fan translations.

"Starting with River City Girls Zero, we've been bringing these Japanese-only releases to a Western audience," WayForward CEO and Founder Voldi Way said in the announcement video.

Clock Tower was originally released in 1995 and is not to be confused with the PlayStation 1 game Clock Tower released in 1996. The franchise only spawned four games, with the most recent release, Clock Tower 3, launching over two decades ago on the PlayStation 2, with the series remaining dormant until today's announcement.

Clock Tower remastered will launch on PC (via Steam), PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch early next year.

Telcos to block SMS containing phone numbers

Telcos To Block SMS Containing Phone Numbers Starting 2 July
Some users have started receiving messages from their respective telcos regarding the blocking of phone numbers through SMS. This move was first announced by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) back in February as part of a bigger initiative to curb scams and fraud through SMS messages.

According to the telco notification, messages containing phone numbers will automatically be blocked, as well as those requesting personal data such as names, IC numbers, bank account information, and more. This ban will come into force starting 2 July 2023.

In case you missed it, major Malaysian telcos started blocking SMS messages containing URL links on 2 May 2023 as ordered by the MACC. This meant that any messages containing links would not reach users, but it only applies to person-to-person SMS.

With links, phone numbers, and phishing messages being blocked from SMS, it will hopefully reduce the amount of fraud victims in Malaysia. However, users will still be succeptible to scam attempts through other messaging platforms such as WhatsApp, Telegram, and so on.

As for messages containing URL links from businesses, they will still be allowed as long as they come from a five-figure numbers such as 6XXXX, 2XXXX, and 1XXXX. However, these messages will also be blocked later on, but the date for this implementation has yet to be revealed.
With these changes, some businesses have started changing how they verify users and actions. For example, crypto exchange Luno is switching from SMS One-Time Password (OTP) codes to app-based notifications for verification. Touch n’ Go also moved away from OTP codes to a more secure method called TapSecure.

Of course, major banks are phasing out codes in SMS messages in favour of their in-house authorisation systems. Maybank will require all online card transactions to be authorised through Secure2u starting from July 2023. On the other hand, CIMB has already made it mandatory for users to go through SecureTAC for all online transactions using CIMB Clicks.

A man name Manivarman shared an incident that occurred at a Ramadan bazaar in Kajang along with a video for context. According to the netizen, he and his friends were buying chicken at a stall next to the one that belongs to the woman in the video. While waiting for their turn to purchase their food, they stood in front of the woman’s stall to avoid blocking the pathway for other visitors.

Price hike for some titles on Book Depository

Not sure what happened when friend of mine wanted to purchase this book last week we both shook seeing the price RM125.67 (I bought it for RM64.39 last November).

Dragon Age Dreadwolf Gameplay Clip Leaks Online

Bioware first announced the fourth game in the Dragon Age series, called Dreadwolf, back in June of 2022. At the time, nothing much else was known about the game, beyond the fact that it will take place after the third game, Inquisition, and all of its DLC. Now a clip, as well as several screenshots, from the game’s alpha have made their way online.

These first made their way onto Reddit. While the post in question has removed all links to the GIF and screenshots, another user has reposted them all to Imgur, with a link in the comments. And from the gameplay clip, it looks like Dreadwolf will be quite the departure from the way earlier entries to the Dragon Age series. At the very least, the short clip does not give an impression that it is a Western RPG-type of game.

The Reddit post goes on to share details like the leak coming from an alpha playtesting that took place a couple of weeks ago. Said poster also bemoans the lack of a gameplay reveal during The Game Awards, which is probably not too surprising considering this is still alpha footage.

Beyond that, the post also notes that the God of War reboot was a “guiding reference point” for Dragon Age Dreadwolf, with combos, abilities and a special meter. While the leaked gameplay clip shows the existence of party members, the post notes that players don’t get to directly control them.

All this marks a pretty major shift in direction for the series, and I’m not sure if fans of the series will be fine with this. After all, Dragon Age: Origins, the first game in the series, was the one game that pushed Western RPGs to the forefront, so it’s strange to see Bioware abandon this for Dreadwolf. Hopefully an official gameplay reveal will shed more light into this.
