ROM in msia, live in USA - which law to follow?

hello,

my fiancee (malaysian) is currently working in the US. we'll be getting married end of this month and after that i'll join him in the US when i got my spouse visa. just wondering - since we ROM in malaysia and live in the US, which set of matrimony law do we follow?

reason for asking is that as far as i'm concerned in malaysia the wife does not have any welfare "protection" when it comes to the husband's assets after divorce. on the other hand in the US the wife is automagically entitled to 50% of the husband's assets after the big D. it's just out of curiosity, i'm not marrying him for his money la.

cos horr, his dad is asking him to buy a house there and he will chip in 50% as investment. but on the condition that the house must not bear my name. so if things go down the drain (just an example and i'm not cursing myself here) later after we got the house, when i gave up everything i have here to go 8000 miles to be with him there, what are the chances that my welfare will be protected when shit happens? he told me not to worry, he will take care of me (he'll give me allowances) but just as how his dad wants to safeguard his "investment" in the house, i too need the same cos i think i have more to lose here lor. from what he said he'll gimme 50% following the US law la. but when things change, people change too.

pls help.
