Can a computer disrupt wireless network?

Broadband provider
ISP/package: Streamyx 1MB
Location: KL
Have you called your ISP's helpline?: Yes, but no help at all since they didn't provide the router

Personal equipment
Modem: aztech dsl 600e
Router: aztech wl830rt4
Firewall used: -

Problem details
First occurence of problem: Couple of days ago
Problem frequency: Everytime my dad connects to the wireless

Problem description:
So here's the situation.

First problem: A couple of days ago my dad brought home the aztech wl830rt4 wireless router. And I installed it using the quick setup provided. Things went okay for a few days. And then one day the router refuses to connect to the internet. PPPoE got request timeout. Actually, it's similar to this problem. Anyway, since the router was still in warranty my dad just exchanged for new one. But still, I want to know if there's actually any way to solve this?

Second problem: New router today. Used quick setup again and everything's okay for a few hours until my dad decided to log on using wireless on his laptop. And then everyone i.e. me and my dad lost wireless connection. In fact, we couldn't even detect the network. After rebooting modem + router, I can detect the network, but can't log on at all. When my dad shut down his laptop, then only I can log on to the wireless network. This happens twice and I'm convinced his laptop is the problem.

So my question is, can a laptop actually disrupts the wireless network? Is there something wrong with my dad's laptop?

Any help would be appreciated
