Talking about Microsoft Licensing there are 3 types of license which is Full Package Product(FPP), OEM(Original Equipment Manufactureur) and Volume License.

1.Full Package Product(FPP) or Reatail: This kind of license suitable for 1-4 computers. Can be transfer to another computer. Support from Microsoft.

2.OEM(Original Equipment Manufactureur): This kind of license will bundle with new computer. Sticker as a proof of license. Cannot be transfer to another computer. First support is OEM or the shop that you buy your computer from.

3.Volume License: This kind of license suitable for comapny or organization that has more than 5 computers and above. No sticker only A4 paper that state Authorisation Number as a certificate from Microsoft.

How to buy?
1. If you have 1 computer with or without license, FPP is the answer for you. Based on FPP license is for new or existing computer that want to use genuine or upgrade to latest version....

2.If you have an existing computer you cannot buy OEM because OEM have to bundle with computer.

3.You are running a company that has more than 5 computers, you should buy Volume license.

What is Windows Activation?
Windows Activation is one of the solution that Microsoft try to control pirated software by asking user to activate after completely install the software. The activation will give you 30 days if you don't want to activate. If 30 days already passed you won't see anything on your desktop only black screen and everytime you turn on your computer it will ask you to activate your windows.

How to check whether my computer is already activated?

For windows xp: Click 'start' button > Choose 'run' command > Type in 'Oobe/msoobe /a' > Enter.

For windows vista and windows 7: Click 'start' button > Right click 'Computer' > Choose 'properties' > Will have new windows pop up > See 'Windows Activation'.

For office 2007: Open Word, Excel or Powerpoint > Click 'office button' on the left top > Click 'Word, Excel or Powerpoint options' > Choose 'resources' > Click 'Activate' button.
