NVIDIA in Comic Fiesta 2014

Last week in Comic Fiesta 2014, a long que for expreiencing NVIDIA VR Direct on the Oculus Rift. NVIDIA suggests that VR Direct will reduce latency "on average" by 10 milliseconds - 10ms from the OS and 4ms from the GPU, also on average. That means that when you turn your head to the right, there’ll be little to no noticeable lag with the image you’re seeing on your VR headset’s screen. It’ll seem entirely real.

Anyone there to try?

The ViewSonic PJD7820HD projector itself is rather smaller than the typical full-size model, and fits easily onto most desks. The glossy black casing gives it a more polished look than the average business model

The projector supports all international video formats including PAL and NTSC. The rear panel connectors of the PJD7820HD include dual VGA connectors, an S-video input, an HDMI input, composite video, a VGA output for driving an external monitor, a USB-B input, and various audio inputs and outputs. Additionally, there is an RS-232 connector for serial connections.

Setup was easy, simply plug in to your video source and it is detected automatically or if for some reason it is not it is easily selected with the source button on the remote or on the top of the projector.

Colors were very vibrant and the brightness/contrast was very good

The PJD7820HD has a six-segment RGBCYW color wheel, so if you are sensitive to rainbow artifacts, you may see them on the PJD7820HD. Since you have the option of enabling or disabling TI's Brilliant Color control, experiment with both settings to see which one you prefer. Brilliant Color provides emphasis on mid-tones and gives the image more pop, but switching it off gives the image a distinctly softer look with more depth and can help reduce the appearance of rainbows. Of course, image brightness is reduced, but it is still sufficient for all but the sunniest rooms.

The PJD7820HD has full HD 3D compatibility, so you can connect it to a Blu-ray player or broadcast 3D source and it will display that content correctly. If you have any frame sequential 3D content, the PJD7820HD can handle it as well. 3D viewing requires the use of special active-shutter DLP Link glasses, such as ViewSonic PGD-250, which are not included with the projector. Image brightness is decreased significantly and many color adjustments are not available in 3D mode, but these are common restrictions found on many 3D projectors.

The PJD7820HD is small, light, and at 3,000 lumens it is plenty bright even in living rooms at midday. It does, of course, have its flaws; like brightness uniformity, fan noise and underpowered built-in speaker. But despite these limitations, the PJD7820HD is an affordable, portable, fully 3D projector that can light up a living room for fun.

A 1080P movie streams beautifully

I want to love the StoreJet Cloud. It is easy to set up, it is easy to use, and the performance is as good as could be expected over a wireless connection. It does have a lot of potential and I am definitely excited to see what the future holds for these types of devices. I would definitely rate Transcend StoreJet Cloud a solid 8 out of 10. Cloud computing is becoming popular, and will it make devices like this obsolete? We shall see.

Transcend 8GB SDHC Class 10 Review

I just had a Transcend SDHC cards for my Panasonic HD Camcorder. Let’s see if it is able to perform well to write with a minimum of 10MB/s sequentially.

Testing Methodology
• Transcend 8GB SDHC Card Class 10
• Transcend 2.0 USB card reader
• Crystal Disk Mark Software 3.0.1 and Flash Memory Toolkit 2:01

Speed test with Crystal Disk Mark I 3.0.1:

Transcend SDHC Card is able to read at 16.87 MB/s and write at 12.22 MB/s sequentially. It fulfills the requirement of Class 10 SHDC speed class rating ~ at least 10 MB/s writing speed.

Result from Flash Memory Toolkit 2.01

Conclusion
Transcend SHDC cards performance up to its specifications and gives us the higher speed and capacity. Camera buffs might not notice the difference but HD video users should appreciate the speedier performance in the Class 10 card.
So, if you want something that is speedy and has the capacity, this card would be a good choice.

KINGMAX HERCULES DDR3 2200 DRAM Module

Once the inner temperature is overly high, the components damage and system crashes might occur in a computer. Thus, with an exceptional thermal performance DRAM module is one of the important factors to ensure a computer system running stably. Realizing the importance of heat dissipation for a DRAM module, KINGMAX applies nano thermal dissipation technology to a DRAM module and introduces HERCULES DDR3 2200 to the market. They were tested by running on overclocking (2200 MHz) test program. The result revealed that the ordinary module caused the system to crash a lot of times due to poor thermal performance. Yet, the other two exhibited excellent performance as their test PCs showed no error messages. (Pic 1). Furthermore, the working temperature measured on KINGMAX heatsink was only 41±1°C (Pic 2) during the overclocking test. Compared to the ordinary DRAM module that reached as high as 45~50°C, the former has a much lower working temperature. What is even more amazing; the working temperature for HERCULES DRAM module was only 39±1°C (Pic 3), which is far lower than the average. Thus, it can be seen the thermal radiation mode of nano thermal dissipation technology is far superior to the heatsink which uses a medium to dissipate heat. As indicated in the test report, the nano thermal dissipation technology can effectively improve thermal performance by 9.5%, the HERCULES DDR3 2200 DRAM module is indeed an excellent and stable product that exhibits high thermal performance during overclocking operations.
