Working at a Private Hospital

Feeling burned out in the current position in semicon industry after working for quite some time, I'm thinking out of moving out of manufacturing field.

I applied for QA position at some private hospital. Based on HR, the working hour is standard 8 to 5 and alternate Sats.

Asides the medical and parking benefits, does anyone know whether private hospital provides bonus/13-month pay like other private sectors? And how's working as non-medical staff at private hospital.

Hope some souls can share their experiences or give me some enlightment.

Job Interview: Reason for Quitting Last Job

Just a brief background of my current job situation:
I work at SME company X in Ipoh, which mainly deals with semicon machines and technical supports
Total manpower:
Employer+ his wife (HR/purchasing)
colleague A (Manufacturing manager) /worked 2 years
colleague B (Technician)/ worked >4 years
colleague C (Mechanical engineer)/ worked > 1 year
colleague D (General Worker)/ worked >4 years
and me (QA)/ worked 2 years

Long story short:
Employer cares too much about his $$$ (rich, bought BMW last years, 3 children and get each of them a condo), doesn't care about his employees
My colleagues traveled outstation to Penang last year back and forth everyday to costumer site
sometimes come back to Ipoh only after midnight, then the next day need to go back to Penang
but the allowance given is little and not even enough to cover

My colleagues OT till late night for a week in late July to rush customer machine
(mainly employer's fault, machine placed at the company for a long time, he didn't want to touch it because he only does things if sees $$$)
but employer didn't give OT money and give them annual leave instead according to normal rate instead.

Final triggerpoint was due to MCO in March.
The day before MCO started, employer asked staffs to sign unpaid salary agreement for March MCO.
At the end of March, received email from employer.
March full salary paid, but annual leaves got deducted from the day MCO started.
No salary for April and early May.
Resumed work in mid May.

Colleague A asked employer whether can give cut pay during the period because he has 4 children to take care and need $$$. Employer said no. Colleague A then borrowed $$$ from employer personally, but need to replace back with respective work days after MCO.
I emailed to employer to ask why annual leaves got deducted. I got lengthy email from employer complaining about MCO and bla bla bla, and he even threatened me to go to labor department to exercise my employee right if I wanted to. His wife also whatsapped to get my acknowledgment for unpaid salary for April.

Colleague B tendered resignation in early July 2020
Colleague C tendered resignation in early August 2020
Colleague A also wants to leave, he's getting offer from 2 companies, still in the stage of negotiation.

Last Friday in meeting, employer also said in next 15 months he still plans to cut more cost.

I'm planning to leave current company as well, and am going for new job interview.
Just a question in job interview... I know we're not supposed to say negative things about current company.

When asked on the reason for leaving last job, is it alright to say that the company is struggling, downsizing due to impact of MCO?

Or should I just say typical reasons like looking for better job opportunities, career growth etc?

Opinions and advice are appreciated.

Is there any way to get the IC number from the e-banking website?

PETALING JAYA: Authorities have arrested 21,106 individuals for violating the movement control order (MCO), says Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pic).

The Defence Minister said the police arrested 489 individuals on Monday, compared with 606 individuals on Sunday; with 465 individuals remanded and 24 given police bail.

A total of 741 individuals had been charged in court for violating the MCO, he said in his daily press briefing yesterday.

“If everyone follows the MCO and the number of positive Covid-19 cases drops, then we can end the MCO earlier and ease some of the regulations.

“Some countries have eased regulations on their lockdown due to their reduced number of positive cases. However, they also suffered a sudden spike and were forced to have longer lockdown periods.

“We don’t want that to happen. We want to make sure that once we end our MCO and ease regulations, it will remain that way.

“There is no point if we open up for two weeks and suddenly we see a spike in cases, causing us to close down again, ” he said.

On a separate matter, Ismail Sabri said all wholesalers and traders at Pasar Borong Selayang must undergo Covid-19 screening.

“Only those who have letters from hospitals or clinics stating they have been tested negative are allowed to enter the market.”

The National Security Council (MKN) is currently doing contact tracing of those who have been exposed.

On green zones, Ismail Sabri said the standard operating procedure (SOP) was being finalised by the MKN.

He said the SOP would outline relaxed restrictions for those living in green zone areas.

“For example, those who are in universities or people’s housing projects (PPR) as well as those in gated communities, if they show no symptoms of Covid-19, then they may be allowed to go out but it is within their area and nothing beyond that.

“All of this is being looked at by MKN and we are getting input from all ministries so that the SOP would be more comprehensive.”

He hoped that MKN would table the finalised SOP to the government for approval.

On students’ movement, Ismail Sabri said it would begin tonight for intra zones.

This will involve students from the northern and eastern zones such as Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Perak, Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang.

On Monday night, students in nine higher learning institutions in the middle zone were sent to their hometowns in the northern zone.

COVID-19 update - President Donald Trump said China is "way ahead of US" in Coronavirus death toll at the US taskforce daily briefing.

He said: "We're not number one, China is number one.

"China is number one by a lot. It's not even close.

"They are way ahead of us in terms of deaths.

"But you don't want to report it. Why? You'll have to explain that."

Deduct Annual Leave during MCO

Brief background:
Company SME. 5 workers, boss and HR waifu.
Boss has multiple cars, bought BMW last year.
Go oversea with HR waifu for vacation every year.
Boss reports company sales status periodically in team meeting,
pretty much can survive MCO.

Timeline:

17/03/2020:
Emergency meeting held. Boss asked the staffs to sign unpaid leave form

24/03/2020:
Boss sent email to all the staffs. Complain about decisions made by gov. Lastly said salary will be made based on number of worked days first. Will discuss with his HR waifu for the the salary during MCO period.

31/3/2020:
- Salary will be paid for MCO period in March.
- Deduct annual leaves based on the number of MCO in March (10 days in total). Staffs without enough AL will need to take advance AL. Or, can negate by working on Sat/Sun when required (work days Mon - Fri).
- April unpaid leave during MCO period, same goes to further extension.
- Ask employees to acknowledge he email

1/4/2020:
Emailed boss to enquire on deduction of AL in March and attached the directive by Human Resource Minstry (did not mention unpaid leave in April).

1/4/2020:
Received boss email reply. He said the directive is not reasonable without consent from any company. As employer, he has the right to challenge it as they do not belong to them. Explained that it is standard practice in private sector to instruct employee to clear annual leaves first when company encounters business slow down. Those without AL have to take unpaid leave. Said till today nothing from gov to support SME.

Lastly he said "Lastly, you can practise your right as employees. Best regards."

2/4/2020:

Told me that for March MCO period, 10 days annual leave will be deducted and April will be unpaid. She requested my acknowledgment in Whataspp.

I'm fine with with unpaid leave in April.
But not with AL deduction in March, since it's against the directive by HR Ministry.

Earlier this year, was planning to leave the company around May after serving 2 years. Bad term with HR waifu and get discriminated by her ever since made a big mistake. Being perfunctory when ask her stuffs, sometimes got replied in unfriendly tone (never do so with other colleagues).

Now, will have postpone the resignation till the overall virus situation gets better (by year end).
