Everything working except buttons/dials sometimes not functioning properly, need to click multiple times for it to work. Batteries are old and battery kit charging port is a little bend.

Picture:

Reason for sale: Upgraded to newer camera

Action camera vs Mirrorless camera accessories

Hi

I currently have a Samsung NX3000 mirrorless camera and I absolutely love it for casual travelling and event photography purposes.
2 months ago, I damaged my gopro when I was in beach (water damage due to water getting into the case )

So I have 2 options now to replace the gopro:
1. buy another action camera, or \
2. just upgrade my NX3000 by buying a Wide angle lens + waterproof housing

Requirements: waterproof (5 meters is good enough), wide angle photos, preferably with a screen, vibrant and sharp images (>= 10MP)
Use cases: water activity photography (snorkeling, kayaking, etc), group selfie at places of attraction
Budget: RM 1500

For now, here's what I think about each option:

Buying new action camera
Pros: small and light, can use monopods to capture photos from angles/places that are not possible by hand
Cons: need to buy various accessories and learn the controls, some cameras don't have a screen

Upgrading Mirrorless camera
Pros: less stuff to carry around, long battery life (I have 2 batteries for mirrorless), slightly cheaper (if compared to gopros)
Cons: need to be careful when changing lens, selfie range limited by hand length, might look silly/clumsy using it for water activities (imagine snorkeling )

Right now I'm leaning towards Upgrading. Any pros here can offer some word of advice? Thanks!

Suggest me a keyboard!

So recently i had the fortune to use a Lenovo desktop, with 'think' series pheripherals - keyboard, mouse, cpu and monitor. I've got to admit, the keyboard was amazing. Nicely curved upwards, great matte texture on the surface of the keys, and really satisfiying feel when typing.

So i am tempted to buy something similar

Budget - rm150
Criteria -
at least ok looking design
ergonomic to use, nice to touch
Offers satisfying press on the keys, preferably the click not too loud when the keys are pressed

Use case - casual browsing, light programming, typing blogs for fun/hobby.

Thanks!

List of NFC Uses

Since getting my NFC-capable phone, i was really intrigued by the NFC technology. Seems like a matter of time before some companies have major push for it, to simplify tasks in life.

Here's an article i've found on CNET on the uses of NFC :
http://howto.cnet.com/8301-11310_39-574783...android-device/

QUOTE

At home
Put an NFC tag near your door and set it to do things like: enable Wi-Fi, decrease brightness, disable Bluetooth, and auto-sync. Using NFC Task Launcher, you can program the tag to "switch," so that when you exit your house and tap the tag for the second time, it changes those settings (like disabling Wi-Fi.)

Driving in the car
Stick an NFC tag somewhere near your dashboard or middle console and have it disable Wi-Fi, increase volume, and enable Bluetooth (for a headset). If you have your phone hooked up to the car's speakers, program the tag to fire up an app like Pandora.

Getting to work
Place the NFC tag on a phone dock or your desk's surface and program it to decrease brightness, disable sounds, enable Wi-Fi, and enable auto-sync. Depending on your habits, you might also have it launch a music app, open your daily to-do list, and even check you into Foursquare.
If you use the Switch option, you can tap the tag again on your way out and have it disable the previously enabled features. And, if you're an extra attentive husband or wife, the tag can also be programmed to send your loved one a text message alerting them that you've left the office and are on the way home.

On the bedside table
If you have a phone dock by your bed (or want to DIY your own), place a tag near the dock and program it to disable sounds, enable any alarms, disable auto-sync, disable the notification LED, and decrease the brightness.

Working out
The fitness types might benefit from an NFC tag on their workout armband or gym bag. For zero distractions, program the tag to enable airplane mode. Or, use the tag to fire up your favorite fitness app and playlist or streaming music app.

Little-known uses and unique ideas

Give access to your Wi-Fi network
If you'd like to give guests at home (or at an office) access to your Wi-Fi network without giving up your password, check out InstaWifi. The free Android app lets you program an NFC tag that, when tapped with an NFC-enabled device, gives the phone or tablet instant access to the associated Wi-Fi network.

Auto-start timers
How many times have you loaded the washing machine, walked away, and completely forgot you were doing your laundry? Put an NFC tag next to your washing machine and dryer that, when tapped, fires up a timer.

Get shortcuts to specific Evernote notes
With Touchanote, a free app that won the Evernote Developers Competition, tags can be programmed to link directly to specific notes. Their examples include a tag on your desk that opens a to-do list, or placing a tag near a product that links to a note with instructions on how to use it. For more examples and the full walkthrough, check out the video on YouTube.

Quickly pair with a Bluetooth keyboard
I asked for your ideas on Twitter and user @litcritter suggested sticking an NFC tag on the back of a portable Bluetooth keyboard. Tap once to enable Bluetooth, and tap again to disable it when you're done typing. Neat idea!

NFC keychain
Stick an NFC tag on an existing keychain, or order a customized NFC keychain online, and program it to complete a task you often do on the go. This can be anything from putting your phone in hot-spot mode to firing up your favorite playlist.

Prank your friends
The least practical, but arguably the most entertaining application of NFC tags is for pranks and rickrolling. If an NFC tag that contains a link is scanned, the Android device will not ask for permission before launching the browser. Scary, right? Questions regarding security come to mind, but can you imagine the possibilities? Fellow CNETer Jeff Sparkman suggests, "Program an NFC tag to open YouTube and play the video for "Never Gonna Give You Up." Hide tag near your target. Hilarity ensues!"

Add search Function

So i need to create a website for 1 of my project.

I have an idea to add a search function that will take 1 keyword max, which will search the keyword across the static webpages that will be included within my website. The website is hosted locally on my own pc using WAMP.

Will present it on my pc so no need publish online. Just for simple demonstration purposes.

Is there a way to search for keywords within the webpage's text, and display the results as links to the original page containing the keyword; without some DB/SQL involved?

I would gladly appreciate your help.

Need some info + advice

Hi, Im about to choose my degree course, which i narrowed down to 2 majors : (Information Tech) Information Systems and (computer science) Software engineering.
Originally I HAD TO go for Information Sys. because that's the kind of 'rule' in my Uni. Now I got a great result i MIGHT have a chance to appeal and switch to the 'harder' Software engineering.

Can any experienced forumers here tell me what kind of future holds for these 2 branches in IT/CS?

I'd probably go for Software Engineering as of now, as i realised i like Programming, and Having programming knowledge will guarantee me some really useful skills needed for my job later on.

On the other hand, Information Systems might be blooming in this decade (It's related with Cloud Computing right?). BTW, many companies (not just IT-heavy companies) could use an Information systems graduate to take care of their databases and security.

So recently i tried ubuntu (dual boot with XP), works pretty nice, VERY user friendly.

SO now i want to mess around with other linux's gang.

Yesterday i - uninstalled ubuntu,

- and partitioned my one and only hard disk into 5 partitions, 4 intended for OS, 1 for common storage.

When i booted from the live CD of Fedora, i then clicked on install on hard disk. Here's where the problem comes;

there's so many options for installations (5) :custom/ shrink/ use free space/ replace linux OS/ etc

Default is "replace linux OS", chose it, error....

shrink - i dont know how it works, so didnt try it

Which option do i choose to install Fedora 14 on a free partition ?(i have 5 partitions, 1 used for XP, 4 others empty/free)
I've searched online for 1 hour and cant find the answer.
