Hire Purchase Loan Procedure

Im selling a car and I have an interested private buyer. This is the first time Im dealing with a buyer who is taking a loan, my previous buying and selling dealings has always been cash basis.

Buyer has proceeded to arrange for a HPL with a local bank. The bank officer in-charge has created a groupchat between buyer and seller for coordination purpose and to keep the flow of information.

I ve been ask to sign a few forms from the bank, namely an invoice and some consent forms. Same with the buyer. Subsequently, the buyer's application has been approved with a Letter of Undertaking (LU) stating the the bank will pay the Buyer this sum of money for this car with these details (reg no, chassis no, engine no etc). No mention of Seller's details at all. The bank officer just ask me to screenshot my bank statement showing my bank, account no. and address only, which I have done.

I have proceeded to get my Puspakom B5 and B7 done and approved.

The Buyer has also deposited the difference amount (transaction price minus approved financing) to the said bank today. The bank today has issued e-hakmilik form to be able to proceed to go to JPJ next week to do the name transfer to Buyers name with claim by bank. All remains is for the Buyer to get the car insurance from the Bank's insurance division and also get a minimum 6 months road tax to complete the whole procedure.

I have requested 2x from the bank officer to give me a document or letter of undertaking stating that the bank will transfer this sum of money to Seller after transfer of ownership at JPJ. I even asked for copies of the forms I signed. The officer merely said that the forms are for internal use only and cannot be issued out. The bank officer said the only documentary proof that I will get is that the money will be transferred to my given account in 2 weeks time after transfer of ownership. I expressed my concern that there is no clear documentary proof which shows the seller and Bank's obligation in this matter. If I do not see the money 2 weeks after ownership transfer, what grounds to I have as an individual buyer against a mighty financial institution?

I would like to ask experienced forummers here whether this is the usual SOP for banks in HPL. Or am I just being too cautious in asking for documentation?

Appreciate if you can share your own experience.
Nikon Coolpix S4

Item(s): Nikon Coolpix S4 Compact camera

Package includes: 1GB SD memory card and the original box, manuals and accompanying cables.

Price: RM110

Warranty: NA

Dealing method: COD

Location: KL/PJ

Contact method/details: Whatsapp/SMS at 0122108831
---

Item(s) conditions: The camera and flash are in superb working condition with blurring on the LCD screen. However, pictures are still viewable on the LCD.

Picture:

Reason for sale: Spring cleaning

The Coolpix S4 has a still relevant, sharp 1/2.5 CCD sensor of 6 megapixels. It has a 2.5-inch (64 mm) thin-film transistor LCD with 110,000 pixels. As much as modern high end smart phone can take better pictures than this camera, the S4 incorporates Nikon’s popular swivel design which allows the addition of a powerful Nikkor 10X Optical zoom lens, yet retain a compact form. Basically a good camera with that awesome swivel for just about any angle, thereby inventing Selfies before selfies were cool.

Other features include D-Lighting and Face-priority AF. Camera is powered by easily obtainable 2X AA batteries (not included).

The camera and flash are in superb working condition, comes with 1GB SD memory card and the original box, manuals and accompanying cables. However, there is minor blurring on the LCD screen but the image remains view-able. Nikon camera collectors should not miss this chance to add this rare item to their collection. More pictures can be requested by interested parties and COD can be arranged in KL/PJ area

More information on the camera here:
http://imaging.nikon.com/lineup/coolpix/s/s4/

Costume Rental in JB

Hey guys, need some heads up on costume rental shops in JB. Although there are many choices in KL, but my timetable is not flexible for me to rent it in KL and attend my function in JB. My google search for costume shops in JB only return one place which is:

House Of Costumes
No. 40 Jalan Jaya Taman Maju Jaya, Johor Bahru 80400, Johor
p: 607-3318860 f: 607-3318680

However this place doesnt have a website and I will have to pay them a visit this week 2 check out their selection. However, if there is other alternatives, perhaps I can lump all my visits in a day so I can make a better decision. Appreciate any further info. Thanks a mill in advance.

Cheers.

My gf's birthday is coming up soon (she'll b 25) and I dun wish to buy anything (money can buy) stuff. Although she waned an Ipod Touch, she could always buy it herself anyway. I wan to make something for her so it's more meaningful and touching.

I remember I used to make a table calendar for her, putting all our pics on it. But a calendar in October sounds a bit weird for a birthday gift. So any of you guys who have made something that ur gf felt like crying or gf who adored so much da gifts that ur guy make for you, pls tell me about it. I would like to consider all options.

Thanks. Cheers.

Great Eastern Selling Plan

Not sure whether this topic has been discussed or not as I couldnt search it at the search engine.

An insurance agent fren told me this recently, not sure whether any sifus here heard of this before, basically its an insurance packaged like an FD with a 5% interest. The catch is the minimum investment is RM5K per year for 10 years. So basically you have to invest RM5K per year for 10 years. According to my fren, the term ends somewhere btw year 11 and year 12. This plan is offered as a collaboration between Great Eastern and UOB Bank.

Other benefit is that the interest that you get are not taxable as it is categorized as insured sum.

Basically thats the gist of the program. Didnt ask for brochures since it was a phone chat and Im outstation. Hopefully the LYN investment sifus can give their opinion on this. I havent heard of this before so would appreciate opinions on the viability and legality of this plan. RM5K a year is not much and wouldnt mind diversifying my portfolio with this product.

Shop Blacklist Thread

I cant seem to search any similar thread of this title so I decided to create this. This is a thread so that LYN forummers can put up any bad experience faced when dealing with any particular company ranging from, accessories shop, tinting shop, workshops, spare parts dealers, chop shops etc, who fleece, charges more than standard, gives unprofessional jobs or even delays.

OF course, this thread is not meant to be a simple thread. This thread should be aimed at creating awareness with proper and short summaries on what had happen in every case and of course photographic evidence is very much encouraged so that readers can make an informed decision before visiting/avoiding any of these shops. Forummers can also share their experience on the measures they have taken to get back at these shops. Of course the most common step is to file a report at the Consumers Tribunal should nothing comes out of the dispute.

I'll start off with an experience from a fren in another forum. Will post up photographic evidence once I have them.

QUOTE

Went to SAY LUAN ACCESSORIES in Taman Puchong (adjacent to the rear of Tesco Puchong) to install a radio, but their not professional worker burn my head unit. It's ur fault, u r the 1 burn my head unit" N they say " nothing to do now, we try to send for repair, thats wat we can do"
N they too took my business card for contact, n ask me wait for 3 to 4 days to repair the faulty head unit. Furthermore, there was small particles of dirt inside the tint. The installer actually laid the cut out tints on top of my car roof before installing inside the windows. Although I intervene and told him nicely, he said "donk worlly, under warranty lahhh!"

He insisted I come back after a week for it to be fully dried up and was sure the problems would go away. It sure did not and when I returned a week later, he persisted that the dirt was already stuck on the windows before installing and it wasn't his fault! He also claimed the cuts on the leather panels and some cut marks on the windows/rubber liners were not his fault. Must have already been there lah...he said!

I was so furious I decided it was not worth my while arguing with this SAY LUAN cheaters. Coincidentally ,another chinese man with his wife was also fuming inside the shop when I was there.

This is the worst accessory shop I have ever been to and looks like I will have to fork out more money to repair the disgusting tint and damage to my door leather panelings.

Another complain of the same shop

QUOTE

This people installed a fake boston acoustics player in my car. All had singapore plates. There was even a Subaru in the middle of this group.

"They were gone for about 30 mins when we encountered the sight of black smoke and traffic slowdown.
Who do you think the Stig is?

As per da title...who do you think the Stig is?

According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Stig

QUOTE

The Stig is the name given to the anonymous racing driver on the BBC motoring show Top Gear. In the show he is cast as a mysterious "tame racing driver" whose identity is unknown, and who never speaks or removes his helmet on camera. Nonetheless he is fully credited as a presenter, albeit as "The Stig", alongside Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May.

The Stig's primary function on the show is to post lap times in various cars around the Top Gear circuit in Dunsfold Park, and to train each week's guest in setting a lap time in the Star in a Reasonably-Priced Car feature on the show. In addition the Stig carries out other driving duties when the need arises.

The Stig has also appeared on some of Jeremy Clarkson's motoring specials, such as Heaven and Hell and The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, as well as on BBC's Whizz Whizz Bang Bang.

Identity

The Stig's true identity is never revealed on the show, and in order to maintain the secrecy, all shots show him wearing full racing overalls and matching Simpson Diamondback helmet. All that can be seen from the gap between his helmet and jumpsuit is that he is a white male with dark hair. It is also known that he wears Size 10 racing boots as discovered by the Sunday Times when the Driving section wrote an article about the show.

The identity of the first Stig was revealed to be Perry McCarthy when his book Flat Out, Flat Broke was published in 2003. McCarthy is a former Formula 1 driver and test driver for the Benetton, Arrows and Williams teams, and also tested for BMW F1.

The identity of the new Stig has not been officially revealed. In a Winter Olympics special episode of Top Gear, the Stig was shown doing a ski jump using a snowmobile. According to the Swedish tabloid newspaper Aftonbladet, the driver performing the ski jump stunt was Dan Lang, a Swedish snowmobile cross driver. In January 2006, a Daily Express article reported that Julian Bailey was the Stig. In January 2007, Russ Swift, a stunt driver who has appeared on the show a number of times, said in an interview that the Stig is not played by just one person.

The show has alluded to The Stig with Formula 1 drivers that visit the show. In the episode of June 26, 2005, Damon Hill appeared as the "Star in a Reasonably Priced Car". When asked directly by Clarkson if he was the Stig, Hill played on the fact that he may be The Stig but then denied it. Mark Webber was interviewed on July 31, 2005 and at the conclusion of his lap, Clarkson presented him with an "I AM THE STIG" T-shirt.

When former F1 driver Nigel Mansell appeared on the show, Jeremy Clarkson noted that the Stig theorised that the Suzuki Liana (the show's "reasonably priced car" at the time) could achieve a 1:44 time on the track. Mansell proved the Stig's theory by lapping in a time of 1:44.6; The Stig subsequently posted a lap-time of 1:44.4 in the Liana. During the review of Jenson Button's lap, Clarkson commented that he, as did most of the other F1 drivers, took very different racing lines from the Stig's. Button commented that "...obviously, the Stig isn't a Formula One Driver then." to which Clarkson replied with "Might be."

Although the Stig does talk with celebrities while preparing them for their "Star in a Reasonably Priced Car" lap times, he is never shown talking on screen, and in Top Gear magazine articles he is portrayed as unable or unwilling to talk. Clarkson has written that the Stig is not permitted to talk on screen because any opinion he might voice on cars would be rubbish; however, The Stig has talked in an interview with a Dutch TV Channel, Veronica.

Who do you think the Stig is? And his African cousin too
Dilemma

Hi guys... this is more a dilemma rather than a problem n im hoping any of the more experience guys like the good ppl at LYN can give their opinions.

I have a MSI Nvidia NX6600GT Diamond 128MB running on 1.5GB memory, 865PE Neo2 mobo and P4 2.6C system.

My GC stock fan failed couple of months ago. Fail as in, the whole fan totally detached itself from the unit. (til you can c the dynamo and magnets inside da fan). I then bought an aftermarket cooler for around Rm45, forgot which brand, which replaced the stock heat sinks n attached the aftermarket's own heat sink and fan. However, even then, my PC cant play games like CnC3, COD4 and NFS. The game hangs even b4 entering the battlefield etc. Im not sure why the aftermarket fan/cooling is not working even though the same size fan was used.

My question is, is it worth to fix the graphic card or buy a better but used card? Can somebody mod some sort of cooling and salvage this GC for a fraction of RM100? Buying a new one doesnt seem to be a likely option for me as newer cards that can even equal the performance of this card is pretty expensive. Besides, that getting a new AGP card is not cheap nor cost effective. Not willing to spend more than RM200 on this. Im most likely using this PC for another maximum 1.5 yrs before i upgrade to a better PC or laptop.

Also i would like you guys to comment whether the performance of a Palit 7300GT 512MB beats the performance of my current card in gaming.

Your input is very much appreciated.

Many thanks in advance!
