GETTY IMAGES
By MAUREEN FARRELL
Oct. 21, 2014 2:20 p.m. ET

Jho Low, the scion of a wealthy Asian family, used to generate headlines for his lavish partying with the likes of Paris Hilton. Now, he is more likely to draw attention for his deal making.

Jynwel Capital, the Low family’s investment vehicle, on Monday emailed a letter to Adidas AG ’s board offering to buy fitness brand Reebok, according to people familiar with the matter. The bid, made together with funds affiliated with the government of Abu Dhabi, values Reebok at about €1.7 billion, or roughly $2.2 billion, the people said.

The move underscores Mr. Low’s evolution from tabloid fodder to someone with ambitions to be a serious player in global mergers and acquisitions.

The 32-year-old grandson of a Chinese-born mining and liquor entrepreneur who was raised in Malaysia, Mr. Low has cultivated relationships with some of the world’s largest funds, including Abu Dhabi’s Mubadala Development Co. and the Kuwait Investment Authority, as well as with billionaires like commodities-investing tycoon Tom Kaplan.

Those relationships have helped Jynwel Capital, which invests the Low family’s roughly $1.75 billion fortune, land roles in deals including the acquisition of New York’s Park Lane Hotel for $660 million in 2013; the takeover of Coastal Energy, an-oil-and gas exploration company with projects in Southeast Asia, for $2.2 billion in 2014; and the buyout of EMI’s music-publishing business for $2.2 billion in 2012.

But the bid for Reebok is Mr. Low’s brashest and highest-profile effort yet. That is in part because unlike in those deals, he and Jynwel are leading it, people close to the matter said.

Mr. Low’s grandfather, Meng Tak, was born in 1922 in a village in China’s Guangdong province. He built his fortune in Thailand in the 1960s and 1970s through iron-ore mining and by building and then selling liquor distilleries. He also invested in real estate in Thailand, Malaysia and Hong Kong. Some of that real estate has been sold, while the family continues to hold on to some of it.

Jho Low’s father was the eldest son of Meng Tak, and he invested his inheritance in business and real estate in Asia and the West. He also invested in Asian stocks and acquired stakes in several companies in Malaysia and Singapore.

As Jynwel’s chief executive, Jho Low is now the principal steward of the family’s fortune, along with his older brother.

The boyish-looking and affable Mr. Low, who was educated at the Harrow School in the U.K. and then at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, developed an affinity for deal making early on, he said in an interview. His first big transaction came in 2006 when he helped the Kuwait Finance House purchase a luxury high-rise apartment building in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, for $87 million. The Kuwaiti bank sold the building less than two years later for a profit of nearly $20 million, Mr. Low said.

MORE READING

Meet the Man Behind the Reebok Bid
In 2008, at the urging of his mother, Mr. Low joined forces with his older brother, Szen, who had done stints at Citigroup Inc. and Goldman Sachs Group Inc. By 2010, as part of the family’s estate planning, it aggregated the vast majority of its fortune under the Jynwel Capital umbrella in Hong Kong. (Jynwel is derived from “Jho” and “general wellness.”)

But Mr. Low’s adventures away from business generated more attention than any of his deal making. He made tabloid headlines for his association with Ms. Hilton, Leonardo DiCaprio and other celebrities, with whom he reportedly racked up bar tabs that sometimes stretched into the six figures or higher. Such behavior didn’t go over well with some of his business partners, he said, or with his late grandfather, who in 2008 admonished him for it.

That, and a cancer scare in 2012, which ultimately turned out to be a serious infection, helped persuade Mr. Low to maintain a healthier lifestyle, he said.

“For me, it’s really about who you interact with,” Mr. Low said. “Being able to interact with the top decision makers in the world really has given me that leap in maturity and thought process.”

As part of his transformation, Mr. Low has spent more time and money on charitable pursuits. In 2013, he committed $50 million to the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, where he had spent six months getting treatment for the infection.

After investing in Mr. Kaplan’s Electrum Group with Mubadala and the Kuwait Invesment Authority, Mr. Low also committed $20 million to Panthera, a nonprofit founded by Mr. Kaplan dedicated to preserving the world’s wildcat population.

“I don’t have many business partnerships which have so quickly and seamlessly become philanthropic partnerships as well,” Mr. Kaplan said.

Waleed Al Mokarrab Al Muhairi, deputy group CEO of Mubadala, said he approached the prospect of co-investing with Mr. Low with the caution he reserves for any new relationship when the two men first discussed collaborating in 2007.

“We like working with people who share our values and who are commercially oriented,” Mr. Al Muhairi said. “When we find something interesting now, we tend to work together.”

It is uncertain how Adidas will greet Mr. Low’s advance. Adidas management has yet to comment publicly on it. The German company’s stock has risen 6.1% since The Wall Street Journal reported Sunday about the impending bid.

Jewish Women pimped to Non-Jews to save Israel

[/QUOTE]Israeli Cult Pimped Out Jewish Women to Non-Jews in Order to ‘Save Israel’
Elizabeth Barber Sept. 9, 2014
Having sex with non-Jewish men — for money — would make the female recruits better Orthodox Jews, leaders promised

RECOMMENDED FOR YOU
Bill Clinton Said He Had Chance To Kill Osama Bin Laden
Ray Rice Apology
Hacker Leaks Nude Photos Of Jennifer Lawrence
by Taboola
A cultish prostitution ring in Israel has for years convinced female members that the future of the Israeli state weighed on them having sex with non-Jewish men, say local police.

Eight ringleaders of what police are describing as a “messianic” cult active throughout Israel are accused of telling female recruits that they must prostitute themselves to non-Jewish men “to save the Jewish people and expedite the redemption,” Haaretz reports.

The women, who also were plied with drugs and alcohol, were told that their own spiritual redemption depended on them selling sex to the cult’s clients, say officers.

Police have shut down the alleged prostitution ring and arrested eight suspects, including David Dvash, 60, a resident of the hard-line Bat Ayin settlement in the West Bank, Haaretz reports. Dvash, who calls himself David the Best, reportedly has 15 children and is married to two women, one of whom is also a suspect in the case.

Lawyers for Dvash and another male suspect filed an insanity plea in court on Sunday, Haaretz said.

Police first learned about the cult about four months ago after Lehava, an extremist Israeli group opposed to marriage between Jewish women and non-Jewish men, alerted authorities to the prostitution ring, Sky News reported. The ring, which had been active for about six or seven years and had recruited about five women, some of whom were minors, apparently attracted a Palestinian cliental from the West Bank, as well as foreign workers in Tel Aviv.

However, this is not the only Israeli sex cult making the news this week. In a separate case, the Tel Aviv district court on Monday convicted a 64-year-old man of rape, incest and other crimes, for keeping a harem of 21 subjugated “wives” who bore him 38 children — all of whom were given variations of his first name, Goel, or “savior” in Hebrew. Some of his daughters were among the rape victims, Reuters said.

Goel Ratzon was found not guilty on the enslavement charge, though former harem women at the sentencing told reporters that they had been in “total slavery,” the Associated Press said. Some of them, according to Reuters, had Ratzon’s name and face tattooed on their bodies.

http://time.com/3307623/israeli-cult-pimpe...to-save-israel/

She insisted that her life "is normal". She refused to comment any further.

The report said that she looked a pale shadow of her former self, having put on weight.

She also had grey hair. But the reporter noticed that she had a good work attitude.

When her colleagues took supper breaks, she was seen picking up a cloth and cleaning the tables. She was even heard saying, "I'm losing weight!"

Next Magazine reported, quoting sources, that she recently opened a private eatery in Taiwan, but was forced to close it in a year.

The report also claimed she split with her boyfriend, causing her to lose even more money.

That was when her connections within the entertainment industry were cut off completely.

STARDOM

Ms Cheng tiptoed into stardom when she won a radio competition in 1988.

She made her first TV appearance alongside Hong Kong movie star Tony Leung, in the 1989 TV show Hap Hak Hang.

In 2000, she caught the eye of Taiwanese millionaire Wong Ren Zhong, who is believed to have helped her set up a nightclub and a food outlet.

Soon after that, she began acting in Hong Kong erotic movies.

It is not clear how many movies she acted in.

Her last public appearance was in the Hong Kong comedy film 72 Tenants Of Prosperity in 2010, in which she was a guest star, Chinese newspaper Shin Min Daily News reported.

after

QUOTE

Singaporeans look to JB as HDB prices rise
By Yow Hong Chieh June 26, 2011

Despite having the strictest restrictions on foreign property ownership in the whole country, JB continues to attract rising number of property investors from Singapore.
KUALA LUMPUR, June 26 — Johor Bahru, once described by Lee Kuan Yew as “notorious for shootings, muggings and carjackings”, is fast becoming home to more and more Singaporeans eager to swap their modest HDB flats for prime real estate.
Landed properties and high-end condominiums are increasingly being snapped up by Singaporeans willing to endure the daily commute to and from the republic as house prices there continue to outpace wages.

The median price of a four-bedroom HDB flat has risen 38.2 per cent from S$285,000 (RM670,000) in the first quarter of 2008 to S$394,000 (RM967,000) in the corresponding quarter of this year, according to HDB figures.

In contrast, wages only rose some four per cent annually during the same period.

The growing price gap between HDB and private flats — which Goldman Sachs says hit a high of S$490 (RM1,200) per sq ft this quarter — also means fewer Singaporeans can now realise their dream of owning private homes.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Former Malaysian Institute of Estate Agents (MIEA) Johor chairman Lim Boon Ping said foreign ownership restrictions at national and state level were the only thing stopping Malaysia’s richer southern neighbours, armed with a strong Singaporean dollar, from flooding over the Causeway.

He pointed out that Johor had the strictest restrictions on foreign property ownership in the whole country, which did not allow Singaporeans to buy single-storey terraces and pre-owned double-storey terraces.

This is on top of federal restrictions that, among others, require foreign owners to only buy homes worth RM500,000 and above.

“Without all these limitations, the pace of people coming in (from Singapore)... will be very fast,” Lim told The Malaysian Insider.

He said Singapore’s attempts to cool down the housing market were likely not prove effective in the long term, citing the S$880,000 (RM2.2 million) per unit opening price for the Centrale 8 design, build and sell scheme (DBSS) project launched last week.

“And that’s supposed to be public housing,” he said.

Developers from Johor and Kuala Lumpur are already responding to greater demand from Singaporeans, and some have started building homes in and around Johor Bahru that few locals can afford.

A realtor who declined to be named said a couple of high-rise developments targeted at Singaporeans are looking to sell 1700-2000 sq ft units at RM700 per sq ft, compared to the RM400-500 average for other luxury condominiums in the city.

“I have doubts about how many locals can afford that,” he said.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Real Estate and Housing Developers Association (Rehda) Johor chairman Simon Heng said the government’s “quite successful” promotion of Iskandar Malaysia was a strong factor behind the Johor Bahru’s improved profile among Singaporeans.

The entry of the Raffles Education Group and several Singapore-based healthcare providers into Johor as well as better connectivity offered by the nearly-completed RM1.1 billion Coastal Highway has also led to more properties being picked up by Singaporeans, especially in Nusajaya, he added.

Heng said anecdotal evidence suggests many more Singaporeans were now even willing to send their children to school in Johor Bahru while continuing to work in Singapore, even though crime remained a key concern.

“To them, it’s cheap to stay here. While travelling to Singapore may be a bit of a hassle, in Singapore they’ll only be able to stay in a small HDB flat... Over here, they can own a landed semi-detached house or bungalow,” he said.

Heng added that the Singaporean MRT’s new Thomson Line, which will terminate at Woodlands station upon completion in 2018, will allow Singaporeans to take the Rapid Transit System (RTS) into Johor Bahru and likely boost the number of cross-border commuters.

“With that, the mass movement of people will be so easy. Maybe many Singaporeans will look at that and say why don’t we buy property in Johor Bahru and take the MRT to Singapore,” he said.

QUOTE

TChan · 3 days ago
Property price in Johor Bahru is already beyond the reach of local Johorean in most area (same as in KL and Penang). I hope the state government policy reflect the interest of local Johorean first. Generally the cost of living in JB is very much higher than other states. This is mainly due to the strong Singapore dollar. The local Johorean can never be able to compete with the Singaporean when it comes to their purchasing power (current exchange rate is SD1 = RM2.41) and I'm afraid resentment will slowly build up if its a free for all situation. Just observe the backlash of the Singaporean during thier elaction which among the many issue is high property price where the average young Singaporean feel they are unable to aford.

HAHAHA next tiem Jaybee ish mini singapore !

Which country's people are the most disgusting and irritating?"
Eight choices were provided, namely: Singaporean, Filipino, Malays, Malaysian, Japanese, Chinese (China), Korean and Indian.
According to socio-political website Temasek Review, the results as reflected on Thursday showed that Singaporeans were voted as the most "disgusting and irritating" people with 48.15 percent of the votes, followed by Filipinos and Malays who garnered 7.41 percent and 5.94 percent of the votes, respectively.
When Yahoo! Singapore tried to visit the site on Friday, the blog had been taken down.

The blog which is said to have conducted the poll has been taken down. (Screengrab from Temasek Review)
This "poll" comes as a German TV variety show Galileo attracted attention here for tongue-in-cheek references to Singaporeans' way of life.
In an episode aired in early May this year, the show's host had said, "Singaporeans are not just crazy, they are tremendously crazy."
Follow Yahoo! News on Twitter and become a fan on Facebook.

The blog which is said to have conducted the poll has been taken down. (read his original comments in Chinese here)

Using the moniker of 奈何惹尘埃, he described his experience of nearly knocking down a Malay Singaporean when he was doing his delivery on a particular day in a post titled “新加坡擒狗记”

“I was doing a delivery the other day when I nearly knocked down a malay xxx. It saw my vehicle approaching and yet did not give way, and after that still wanted to act cool, and kicked a few boxes off my rack.

There is a saying, one can bear with shit, but can’t bear with rage. My pride then told me, this xxx is definitely looking for trouble, and I took my wooden stick and angrily storm out of my vehicle, and kicked his ‘bike’ off.”

Instead of apologizing for causing an accident, the PRC man stormed out of his vehicle and beat the Malay man with a stick:

“He ran towards another man/boss and thought that he would be alright, I did not care and pressed him on the ground and held onto his throat and gave him a slap, and scolded him using a mixture of English, mandarin and my dialect.”

(他以为跑到他之主管面前就没事了，吾无视之，冲过去犹如按狗一样地一招喉轮落将其按倒在地，给了他一巴掌!用着中英文夹杂家乡话尽情的侮辱着这只x)

He ended his rant by calling Singaporeans “retards”:

“Those retards who want to act ‘garang’ , step forward., I come here not to be bullied or insulted — from a true noble Chinese with 5000 years of cultural baptism.”

(装B贩子们尽管站出来 告诉你们哥来新加坡不是当孙子的 是来求虐萩侮辱的- – 正宗的有着5000年中花民族洗礼的高贵的中国人)

According to his biodata posted on the forum, his surname is Zhou and is currently 24 years old. He is born in the city of Wei Hai in Shandong province in northern China.

Mr Zhou’s racist and derogatory comments were applauded by fellow PRC netizens in the forum.

正义神 wrote he really respect him for his ‘violence’: 兄弟你真牛！哥佩服你

Though some netizens advised him to cool down in case he got into trouble with the law, 奈何惹尘埃 retorted callously that he was not stressed a bit and if he is deported by the authorities, he will just say ‘bye bye’ to Singapore. (完全没压力= = 送走就对新加坡说拜拜)

In 2004, two Singaporean bloggers Nicholas Lim and Benjamin Koh were jailed for making racist remarks about the Malay community on their blogs.

Last year, three Singapore students from the Singapore Polytechnic were arrested by the police for making similar remarks about Indians on Facebook.

Singaporeans can take a snapshot of the post from the forum and lodge a police report against this PRC man online for making seditious remarks which may disrupt racial harmony in Singapore.

so next tiem in SG , dont forget to put hockey stick/golf club etc in yer car .kthxbye.
