How did/will you celebrate your child's 1st Bday?

How did/will you celebrate your child's 1st birthday?

Is it an elaborate one? small do..with just close family and friends?

I celebrated my son's 1st birthday (last year) by doing a barbecue with family members. We had a birthday cake plus some cupcakes.

I don't think an elaborate one (like a whole themed party with clowns etc) is ideal as they don't remember and usually 1st and 2nd birthday's are for the parents.

Only child or more?

Hi Parents!

I'm a mommy to a 22 month old son..and recently..everyone is asking me to try for another child...their reason is to accompany my son now. For me, I think 1 is enough..reason is cost of living is going up..and since I want to provide the best for my child, I know that having more than 1 will not allow me to provide the best especially in education.

It is true that he would be lonely and that he would need lots of my attention now and later but when I think about the costs of raising a child..it's scary.

What's your views?

Eu Yan Sang - Bo Ying Compound

I've been hearing ads over the radio about EYS's Bo Ying Compound which claims it's good for babies. What is it actually?

To my knowledge, EYS usually deals with herbal stuff. Out of curiousity (which usually kills the cat)...do you parents here believe herbal products for your newborn babies? I'm very skeptical about herbs that is to be given to babies.

[addedon]April 12, 2011, 4:50 pm[/addedon]Key Ingredients:

Calculus Bovis, Margarita, Succinum, Arisaema cum Bile, Concretion Silicea Bambusae, Rhizoma Paridis, Radix Saposhnikoviae, Rhizoma Pinelliae, Bulbus Fritillaria Cirrhosa, Ramulus Uncaria cum Uncis, Radix Curcumae, Herba Menthae, Rhizoma Gastrodiae, Periostracum Cicadae.

I don't even know what's all these

Do you co-sleep with your baby?

Hi parents!

Just wanted to ask if any of you co-sleep with your baby. If yes, for how long?

As for me, I started to co-sleep when my son was about 1 month plus. Someone gave us this 'sleeper' which is a little bed where you can place on your bed in between. I totally found it useful as I didn't have to worry that we may roll over the baby and I don't need to get up every time just to check if he's breathing (i was totally worried about SIDS)

Another reason i co-sleep is because i breastfeed..thus..I dont' need to disturb my sleep and still get enough winks.

My son is now 1.5 yr old and still co-sleep with us (as I'm still breastfeeding). I did suggest to my hb if we should start letting my son sleep on his own bed but hb said he likes having his son sleep next to him.

Do i worry if he doesn't want to sleep on his own? I do..but i think i should enjoy these moments as I'm very sure when he's a teenager..he doesn't want us near him...and would want his own space

Do you put your child in a carseat?

Hi Parents!

Just wanted to check if anyone of you here really make it a point to get your child to sit in the car seat..seeing noticeably that the road accidents are on the rise. Overseas, it's mandatory to have baby and kids in a carseat whereas here is still not needed.

I started putting my son into a carseat ever since he was born. Started first with the rear-facing carseat and then when he reached 1yo..i upgraded to the forward-facing carseat.

I spent about Rm600 for a Halford brand (i think i got the name right) which is a British brand for the forward-facing one. I feel that the money spent on the carseat is worth it as it's for safety reasons.

What about you parents out there?
