Ivy Bridge or Sandy Bridge?

Hi to the sifus sifus here, actually I planned to upgrade my current processor, I'm currently using AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE, and I planned to switch to Intel i5 processors, but the question is,

Should I take Ivy Bridge or Sandy Bridge?

What are the differences between these 2 generations?

Actually I plan to upgrade my current, I have a budget around 1.3k. My usage are just gaming, plays most of the game like Battlefield 3, Skyrim, Dota 2, Assassin's Creed series and etc. Web surfing, and some downloading as well.

Actually planned to change the processor, but from what I heard, not much difference will be noticeable.

Any advice on which parts that I should upgrade?

Lag and then Hibernate

Hi there,

I have a laptop, sometimes when I'm using it to play game or watch video, it will become lag for a couple of seconds, then it will smooth back, and sometimes, when it lags, then the lappy will go hibernate as well. I don't have this problem last time, I suspect that there's a problem with the hardware, but I'm not sure which is it. About the game, it's just normal game like DotA. And those kind of lag is something like spike.

The laptop model is Compaq Presario CQ40-401AU.

Sorry if I didn't explain well about this problem, anyone know what's the problem?
