1 monitor to be shared by 2 PCs

Hi all,

I have 2 PCs: 1 for online and the other gaming but I only have 1 17" CRT monitor with 1 standard VGA port. I knew that a KVM switch is able to let 1 monitor to be shared by 2 PCs.

I have questions:

1) Other than KVM switch, do I have other alternative besides buying another monitor? I only want to share the monitor, as I have 2 sets of spare keyboard and mouse.

2) What is the price of a KVM switch in LYP?

3) Which shop is selling it?

4) Is it worth buying the switch than getting a new monitor?

Appreciate your advise soon.

Thanks in advance,
akkmutd0711

New handphone bought

Hi guys,

I have bought a new handphone. How long should I charge the battery for the first time? 8 hrs or 10 hrs? I read the manual that says it should not overcharge as it may shorten the lifespan of the battery.

Any advise?

Thanks.

Hi guys!

I just installed an AMD X2 3800+ into my system. I reboot system but then in WinXP's Task Manager it doesnt show dual core. Same goes to CPU-Z. Anyhow the device manager does shows 2 processors.

[attachmentid=223340]

How do I enable the other core??

For your information, I have installed the AMD driver and dual core optimizer downloaded from the AMD website, as well as installing the MS hotfix concerning about performance issues of dual core proc. Hereby I include my rig as well:

- AMD X2 3800+
- GA-K8NSC-939
(BIOS already updated to the latest before X2 installation, BUT as soon as I install X2, I reflashed again)
- Team Group 2GB DDR400 (dual-channel)
- BBA ATi X800XT (450/450)
- 2 x WD IDE 80GB + 1 x WD SATA 80GB
- DVD burner

I will appreciate it if any sifus can provide advices promptly.

Thank you very much.

Regards,
akkmutd0711

p.s.: I would highly prefer to just modify or install any drivers rather than reinstalling windows..

Unexpected termination of Streamyx connection

to all the pros in this LYN:

let me share an interesting story to all of you here..

the case is like this: i get connected to streamyx, everything's seems to be fine, down and up rate is normal, same goes to surfing the net.

now the best part comes..

when i initiated my BitComet 0.63, it started off quite ok, the dl rate is progressively speedin up til the max and then maintain for like 3-5 minutes (sometimes shorter), after that the problem comes:

the connection seems to be shut down from the modem... the client shows speed is decreasing to zero, MSN msger DC, i cant surf my internet at all, then finally the streamyx connection DC by itself!!! i had tried to reconnect it but all i get was error...

and the most surprising thing i found out is that i checked through the streamyx test, under General Test, i selected the first 2 options to be checked i.e. Erthernet Interface and ADSL modem. after the checking i have been informed that the ADSL modem test had failed. thus i tried to disable my LAN and re-enabling it again to connect back to the streamyx connection, and YES it is OK. (after going through the hassle)

but however if i were to start my BT client again, it will happen again. may i know is there something wrong on my side or it's TMNut's fault?

i would really appreciate it if you guys can provide advices and suggestions to my problem..

regards,
akkmutd

p.s.: i'm currently running on XP PRO SP2 with the latest updates, windows firewall is enabled with the appropriate BT port as well, running an Ethernet based Aztech 305E modem and i'm on the 66 streamyx package.
