No siri for Malaysia?

Siri is coming to macOS Sierra. But Siri might be country restricted like other Apple services.

Take a look at the screenshots from macOS feature page from Apple US and Apple Malaysia. US one has Siri pasted all over it, whereas the Msian one makes no mention of Siri.

Honestly, I'll be really disappointed if I don't get Siri on my macOS. If it works on my phone, it should work on my mac.

Macbook Air 13" pricing

If you're looking for a new Macbook Air 13" and don't mind the 4gigs of RAM, buy your MBA from an authorized reseller (Machines, Harvey Norman, Maccity) etc. rather than from apple store online. Why you ask?

Price of MBA 13" on Apple store - RM 4,199.00
Price of MBA 11" at Authorized resellers - RM 3,799.00
Price of MBA 13" at Authorized resellers - RM 3,799.00

Don't ask me why 11" and 13" are the same price. Only difference for the 13" model is, the RM3799 ones come with 4 gigs of RAM compared to the RM4199 ones which are equipped with 8 gigs. So if you're in the market for entry level macbooks, this is a good time to go for it.

Why is there no Applecare for iPhones in Malaysia?

Most of us have damaged our phones at some point, be it from a drop on the floor or water. Then we had to go through the whole ordeal of finding shops to replace the screen, or revive the phone by putting it in rice (cue the asians and rice joke).

But 3rd party screens often don't turn out like the original. Touch sensitivity becomes iffy, or the screen just dies, or the phone just stops working. Wasted money, wasted time and wasted phone.

So the real question is, why isn't Apple introducing the applecare program from iPhones in Malaysia? We have it for Macs, iPads and even iPods. The internals can't be that dissimilar. And not like we don't have trained professionals here.

So what gives?

AppleCare+ provides repair or replacement coverage, both parts and labor, from Apple-authorized technicians. Service coverage includes the following:
- Your iPhone
- Battery (1)
- Included earphones and accessories

Apple Music Pricing In Malaysia

Probably some good news,

Even though it was declared to be $9.99/month (RM 37 in current exchange rate) for subscription, Apple is apparently price-matching to get more subscribers on board.

For example, Apple Music in Russia will cost about $3, and about $2 in India. Because spotify subscription costs RM 15 for us, do you guys think they'll match to that as well? Do you plan on switching from Spotify to AM if that's the case?

PS: Anyone on iOS 9 dev preview can actually open up the new music app and check the proposed pricing.

[GUIDE] Samsung Galaxy S II proper root

SGSII has been out for a while now, and there has been a lot of development according to XDA devs page. But before any of that can be applied, an user needs to gain superuser rights, or to simply put it, root the phone.

Well known XDA Galaxy S developer Chainfire has come up with a proper root for SGSII and I've tested it on SGSII.

Go to Settings>About Phone> Kernel version and note it down.

Follow the instructions carefully. Read twice if you are in confusion.

I'm not responsible for any damage of your phone, or your laptop or your face!

PART 1: Things you need before Rooting:

1. Odin 1.7 http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PP7448N9
2. Kies 2.0 installed (Go to samsung website)
3. SuperOneClick http://download.cnet.com/SuperOneClick/300...4-75447027.html
4. "XWKDD_insecure.tar" file http://www.multiupload.com/UQIYDE9L4L

Once you have everything from PART 1, continue to PART 2. Otherwise, go back to PART 1.

PART 2: How To Root:

1. Before doing anything, make sure KIES can detect your device.
2. Extract Odin zip file.
3. Extract SuperOneClick zip file
4. DO NOT EXTRACT the .tar file. Leave it as it is
5. Put your phone to USB debugging mode. USB debugging mode: Settings -> Applications -> Development -> USB debugging
6. Power off device. Wait for it to complete shut down (give it about 10s). Now press and hold VolumeDown + Home + Power buttons together. And you should be in download mode now. [DOWNLOADING: Do not turn off target should show up on screen]
7. Close Kies on your PC.
8. Start Odin.
9. Connect your phone through USB [ Odin should say 'Added!', and ID:COM should turn yellow]
10. If ODIN does not detect your device, DO NOT PROCEED. Go back to step 5.
11. If it detected your device, press PDA button and select "XWKDD_insecure.tar" file
12. Make sure you tick <Auto Reboot> and <F.Reset> only. Everything else should be unchecked. EVERTHING ELSE
13. Press START.
14. Let Odin flash the kernel. Your device should reboot automatically.
15. After complete reboot, open SuperOneClick.
16. Your device is still connected to PC using USB debugging, so on SuperOneClick under 'Universal' press the BIG ROOT BUTTON.
17. Wait for the magic to finish, and you should see 'OK'. A pop-up might come up saying your device has been rooted.
18. Go to your app drawer and check for SuperUser.

If you have it, you have successfully finished rooting your device. Enjoy

If you want to go back to your original kernel flash it in the same way using odin. original kernels can be found here.
