IPOH: The Malaysian student who fell to his death in Taipei, apparently while taking selfies dressed in a Spider-Man costume, was well known among his lecturers and peers as a cosplay fan.

According to tabloid portal Appledaily.com, Lee Yang Hao, 29, loved cosplay and had worn the costume to class before, so many teachers and students knew of his hobby.

The student of Changhua county’s Da-Yeh University was found dead on Wednesday night outside the men’s dormitory, Taiwan’s Central News Agency reported.

He is believed to have fallen from the fifth floor of the building, the agency said.

A childhood friend here said Lee only entered his Spider-Man phase after going to Taiwan four years ago.

Vanness Fan, 31, said Lee joined the “Zhu Zhu Tuan” or Spider Troupe, a cosplay group devoted to the web-slinger, while doing his studies there.

“For as long as I have known him, he was never into Spider-Man – until he went to Taipei.

“He was into football (here) and supported Liverpool,” Fan told The Star when contacted.

“He liked the colour red, which could be why he also liked Spider-Man,” he said.

Fan added that Lee used to live across the road from his house in Kampung Sultan, Kampar.

“I last saw him last year at his brother’s wedding. He was a happy-go-lucky person who made friends easily.

“You could see on Facebook how many of his friends were saddened by his death,” he added.

Fan said Lee, the youngest of five siblings, used to work at a hotel in Genting.

“He also worked part-time in Taiwan to pay for his studies,” he said, adding that they used to play football together.

Bernama reported that a student passing by the dormitory building found Lee unconscious and notified the university and police.

But Lee was already dead when they reached the scene, police said.

The police said they believed Lee was taking selfies on the balcony when he fell. They also found his cellphone on the fifth floor balcony.

A classmate told them that Lee had said earlier that he was going to take photos outside.

It was also reported that students and staff had seen Lee on campus earlier in the day.

His roommate, who was not identified, said just before the incident, Lee had put on the costume and told him that he wanted to take a photo.

“I got a shock when I heard what happened,” he said.

A video aired on TVBS showed blurred pictures of Lee’s body, the place he was found and his closet in the hostel, which was full of clothes and what looked like Spider-Man costumes.

Chan Ting-yu, head of the investigation unit at Changhua county police department’s Yuanlin precinct, said police were currently unable to determine the cause of death as there were no witnesses.

Da-Yeh University has contacted Lee’s family in Malaysia and will arrange for them to travel to Taiwan.

Malaysian ship bombed by Indonesia

KUALA LUMPUR: A Malaysian-registered fishing vessel which allegedly conducted illegal fishing activities was bombed by Indonesian authorities yesterday.

According to Indonesian news agency Jakarta Post, the trawler was sunk by the republic's police in North Sumatra for illegal fishing off Pandan Islet recently.

The agency quoted North Sumatra police chief Inspector General Eko Hadi who said the sinking of the ship, which features registration number PKFA 7738, was approved by the Indonesian court.

“After getting approval from the district court head, we used dynamite to destroy and sink the ship,” he was quoted as saying.

The trawler was destroyed in Belawan waters. It was the first time that the North Sumatra police had sunk a foreign vessel for fishing illegally.

However, the news report did not state the fate of the vessel's crew members.

Indonesian President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo had last year instructed the republic's authorities to take stern action against foreign fishing vessels which are found fishing illegally in their waters.

yes, i know it illegal, maybe can give warning shoot at air or caught them if really enter their waters . no need to bombed their boat.

right now im fixing a bug, im getting error from prev developer code in bean side.

my problem is..i also dont know how to explain..

but easy way is..hope u all can understand...

just happen went playing game..monitor suddenly off n on again but screen appear a error but i cant read the popup windows..cuz screen like hang..like diz..this just example that most similar to my prob..

went pc hang went playing games..sound of games still have..but monitor off & on by its self..

my gc is juz came back from RMA for 2 week almosr..get new one..my gc problem or my monitor prob

cuz 1 days the hang screen not appear but the refresh rate appear like..

right now my planning is upgrading my rigs at list get the mid range gaming computer.

my current specs is

e5300
asrock mobo p31
4gb DDR2
sapphire 4670 512mb DDR4
normal psu come with casing

my budget is around 1k n limited cash but really wanna to upgrade my system..

my 1st planning is to stay in lga775 socket..but upgrade to quad core system..like q8300/q6600/q9550 n change the psu 500 - 700 watt n gc to 4870/4890 cant afford the 58xx gc..this type of change is around my budget or myb not upgrade in one shot..but need to funding more to change the mobo later..

my 2nd plan is go to i5 quad core system..but need to change most of the system..n need to change it 1 by one..take time cuz limited fund..
the list is like this :-

Msi p55 dg65
2gb ddr3
ati 4870/4890
psu 500 - 700 watt

but for this system cant change my gc cuz limited fund stick for my hd4670..suddenly im stuck went thinking with one i should upgrade first...

i really need help..

i just get my graphic card after send it for warranty because having fan problem..

after waiting for 1 month i really excited cuz i can play game again..
but after install back the card to my mobo..my monitor cant detect the card..

my com still on n running..but nothing appear at the screen..
i connecting the cable back to on board graphic card..but it still same..

i pull of the card from mobo..n connect the cable to mobo card..
my monitor can detect it..

do i miss anything b4 install back my card or what??
