[WTA] Building a decent computer

Hi guys,

I'm looking to build a decent computer for gaming+other purposes. Not interested in overclocking/undervolting or anything like that.
Currently, I've came up with the following build (prices taken from Jayacom's pricelist):

Core i5 3570K - 690
Sapphire HD7850 - 739
1TB WD Blue - 265
Intel 330 Series 60GB SSD- 279
Gigabyte 500W Power Rock - 175

A couple of questions:
1. I'm thinking of reusing my old Asus P8P67 motherboard. It seems to support the latest generation of intel chips, so would there be any complications or problems using this board? If not, any recommendations?

2. Is the SSD I chose any good? I just chose the cheapest I saw on the list Any other recommendations?

3. Is the power supply sufficient for this setup? Or do I need to change it to a 600W PSU?

4. Recommend a nice casing please

Thanks!

Purchasing the game from us battle net account

Hi guys,

I have a us battlenet account, and I can't seem to change the country of residence. So my question is this, can I buy a digital copy of the game with this account? I would prefer to do this as the us copy is only 60 usd while it costs 90 sgd if my region is Malaysia.

Would there be a problem with playing on certain servers? Thanks

Some Android Apps and Games you might have missed

Hi guys,

I've noticed that there hasn't been a topic where we can share apps/games for our phones. So, this is the place to enrich our android experience while introducing new stuff to other people as well.

I'll start us off:

1. Battleheart - Very nice game! Needs to be paid for though (or obtained through other means )
2. Akinator - Serious mind f*** app
3. Malaysia News - Great for reading news from malaysia. Shows news from the star, berita harian, malaysia today and many others
4. stardunk - simple fun game for killing time
5. camera360 - popular app for camera enhancement, but not everyone might know about it. Closest thing we have to instagram for iphone
6. minimalistic text - Awesome widget for customising your home screen. Something like rainmeter for pc in the sense that you can display battery %, time, weather etc in word form

Yes 4G with maxis postpaid?

So, I have a maxis postpaid line. Can I use the data plan from YES 4g and keep my maxis line? Probably using the starter plan from YTL (http://www.yes.my/v2/say-yes/go-yesid-starterpacks.do) I plan to use this for my phone's internet connection only.

Also, this YES plan is prepaid right? meaning i will need to buy a reload every month?

Finally, is this plan worth it? Thanks guys.

Cant connect to Demonoid

Hi guys,

Recently I made a demonoid account. However, I cant connect to any torrents on the site. I get the "connection closed by peer" error on the demonoid tracker. I've notice this for a few other trackers as well, most notably the pirate bay tracker. Anyone else having problems connecting to these trackers?

Also, are there any workarounds regarding this problem? I've searched the forums and found the PAW method where you change your user agent. However, that doesnt seem to work. I keep getting a Http 500 error. Thanks in advance

Question on Bittorrent

Ok, I have a question regarding bittorrent. I know that the more you upload, the more you download. So does that mean that downloading with unifi, you should always reach your max line speed on a well seeded torrent assuming you upload at full capacity?

I am currently using streamyx, and I find that most of the time, my speed isn't maxed out and it takes a long time for the speed to pick up. I'm downloading well seeded torrents with good seed/peer ratio. Well admittedly I'm not using private trackers, but still, the speed is rather pathetic.

I max out my line almost all the time when i dl direct.
PSU for intel i5 2500

Ok, currently I have a 450 W PSU running a AMD Athlon X2 3.2Ghz processor. I plan to upgrade to the new intel i5 2500 processor soon. Power draw on the 12 V rails is 360W (2 rails - 18 A each rail)

My question is, can I use this PSU for the new processor? Is it more power hungry? At least until i change my graphics card (GT240).

HD5850 vs GTX 460

Hi,

After doing some research on google and through the price lists from various shops, it seems that GTX 460 and HD 5850 have aroud the same performance, with the 5850 doing slightly better as a single card and the gtx 460 scaling better when SLIed.

However, what confuses me is the pricing. Most shops have the GTX 460 down at around RM 650 to Rm 700+. The 5850 however, costs around RM 900 or so.
The only shop that I've seen that the 5850 is actually cheaper than the 460 is Jayacom, which apparently sells the Sapphire HD 5850 for RM 595.

So, my question is, why is there such a big price difference for the 5850 between different shops, and which would be the better card to buy if I do not intend to SLI or Xfire the cards.
Also, would 500 W be enough to run either of these cards in a i5 2500 setup?
Thanks

PvT, PvZ strat help

Hi guys,

I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction for some solid PvT and PvZ strats? I seem to lose alot of games versus terran and zerg. My win rate against protoss is almost 100% though.

I'm currently in silver league. Thanks so much!

Better youtube service

Finally TM net has gotten smarter in their throttling. Since a few weeks ago, I've noticed that I do not need to wait for my youtube videos to buffer. Wondering why, I decided to do a little investigation.

Looks like tm has finally gotten smarter in the way they throttle youtube. The videos load at max line speed for a few seconds (1.6Mbps for me) then drops to about 400 kbps and stays that way until the end of the video.

This allows the video to be watched without interruption. Finally. Havent tested this with HD videos yet though, will do so when I reach home.

Hi guys, I'm looking to buy a decently priced electric acoustic guitar. What would be a good brand to look out for and what would be a few key things to look for in the guitar? Thanks in advance.

Also, anyone knows a guitar shop that sells cheaply? I've heard that Wohh Fat is cheap
