Unit was bought sometime last year, can't remember when exactly. Estimated 2 years of age, probably less.

Never overclocked. It works when plugged in, could boot into windows.

Artefacts shows up when playing games, in my case was Ryse: Son of Rome.

Game would crash to desktop and nvidia will show message: "kernel bla bla bla..." forgot the details..

Tried repasting GPU thermal paste, no avail. Maybe someone else out there knows how to fix it, could be a steal of a deal for you .

Has that Nvidia Titan look to it. Cool housing for those who are looking to mod your 770.

Housing MAY fit other cards as well, pls do your own research before committing to buy.

First of all, I hope I am posting in the right place.

As mentioned in the title, mSATA mini SSD.
They are most commonly used in some laptop and ultrabooks, rarely in desktops (I think)

Some people out there (and in LYN) are looking for it.
However SSDs in this form factor are hard to find locally - maybe nobody sells them at all.

They come in various capacities:
8GB, 16GB, 32GB, 128GB, 256GB

As far as I know, these model can support 25mm Half-Size mSATA mini SSD:

ASUS: B400A-XH51, Q501LA, Q550LF
ASUS Zenbook: UX302LA, UX42VS, UX52VS
Dell Vostro 5470

Anyone in LYN enthusiastic enough to buy them?

New, used, or refurbished.. Does it really matter?

Brand new units are good for warranties, though some may not cover accidental damage.
Used units has lower a lower price and additional scratches or wear
Refurbished units are surprises in a box, you might get a mint unit or not, but undeniably with a low price (most oftenly the cheapest).

So, which type of a notebook user are you?

Dell Alienware M15x LCD casemod

I had this LCD cover for a while now, bought separately back in 2010.
It was intended for a mod back then but I did not have the time.

Since I now have all the time in the world,
It was time to get the project moving

1. Preparation

First remove the LCD hinges <-- photos not shown due to simplicity, removal of screws basically

Next, notice the black rubbery thingy on the M15x?

That has to be removed prior to sanding

1.1 Removing the black rubbery thingy

Flipping the back LCD case, we will find a sort of melted plastic (marked in red)

These are holding the black rubbery thingy into place and onto the LCD case itself.
Remove all of them by using a drill or rotary tool.

Slowly remove the plastic tabs one at a time. You should get the hang of it after the first few holes <-- sounds a little perverted
Anyway, I used a Dremel 300 series courtesy of NiclasTeoh

Flip it over, and now you should get:

remember also to cover up the Alienhead with waterproof tape, or simply remove it as seen here to protect it
form scratching due to sanding.

2. Sanding

Start off with a high grit sandpaper.

in this case i used a 150 grit

2.1 sanding progress

Wet sanding is optional

The whole process was done using the 150 grit.
It should be sanded again with a finer grit (preferably 400 or 800) before priming the area to be painted

I'm just wondering if flashing the card with R281544 would show any difference in performance.

I got a call form a suspected private number described as only "Withheld" by my SE cellphone.

It appears to be somewhat a Telekom Malaysia promoter.
She asked me if i was interested in upgrading to 2MBps. (I am currently using the UNIpack RM68 1MBps)

The conversation goes something like this (translated from Malay):
Promoter = A, Me = B

A: Hello Mr.B. I am calling form TM to promote our new 2MBps availability in your area (Kuching, Sarawak).
Your current package is RM88 1MBps right Mr.B?
B: No, I am using the UNIpack 1MBps RM68.
A: Huh, RM68? You mean the RM88. (She literally said "huh" multiple times during the conversation)
B: No, RM68 UNIpack. The new package for students?
A: But 1MBps is RM88+rental of RM26 = RM114. I think you got it wrong Mr.B.
Anyway, would you be interested in upgrading to 2MBps?
B: Err.. No. (coz i know there will be extra charges, and I don't download as much as before. So, no point actually)
A: Huh, are you sure?
B: I don't know, should I?
A: All you have to do is add RM16 to your current bill of RM114. You will enjoy free homeline calls just like you did before.
Do you understand me Mr.B? (I don't even use the homeline, why should I care?)
B: No, did you mean RM68+16?
A: Okay, your current subscription is RM88, +rental of RM26. All together is RM114 Mr.B. Did you get me?
B: No, I am using UNIpack RM68. My internet bill says so.
A: Really? Actually it is the RM88 plan, TM doesn't show you everything in the bill. (What the heck?).
So Mr.B, are you interested or not?
B: (Disregarding her last statement) Let me get this straight, my current plan is RM68, so with the upgrade my next bill should
have an extra RM16 charged, am I correct?
A: Yes.
B: Therefore, how much should I pay for next month?
A: RM130. So, are you interested Mr.B? We can't have this conversation for too long, otherwise we will be disconnected.
B: No thank you then, I'll pass.

Seconds after, she disconnected the phone call without saying "thank you for your time" or stuff like that.
I personally think the conversation was a little rude.

Moments later, I got to my computer and watched some vids on youtube. And it was freaking slow.
I did a speed test:

Usually when i download, i get around 180kbps.
All of a sudden it became 10kbps-18kbps even as i speak or type these words

The possibilities I can think of right now is:

1. The so called promoter is someone with access to modify my internet bandwidth.
She was upset coz I didn't want the 2MBps (which is most unlikely to happen)

2. TM purposely decrease the bandwidth in Kuching, so that all streamyx users would go for the upgrade.

3. System maintenance somewhere nearby?

Anyway, what do you guys think?
Have anyone else received similar calls?

Dell Inspiron E1505 Case mod

Anyone with experience using this model would face the common paint job problem (especially the palmrest).
Therefore I decided to repaint the system, since it is getting old.

The E1505 originally looked like this:

Actually, the main reason for me doing this is because of the palmrest which is really ugly coz of the discoloration.

It's on the left hand side, most probably because of gaming
Anyway, soon after I took it apart and began sanding with a 400 sandpaper, and 800 after (to smoothen out)
The results were:

**edit: had to remove some photo due to the photo adding limit
By taking off the Dell emblem earlier, I have to seal the indent within the LCD lid.

I was thinking of using bondo, but ended up using epoxy instead, and it worked very well
After thinning the epoxy, it was priming time.

I used an anti-rust primer which I'm not sure will work at that moment
Anyway, all turned out well till the final layer of paint.

Just flat black though

Seems plain, any suggestion what to add on?
