Calling all LYN Healthcare Professionals

Hello!
From browsing the healthcare section of LYN forums, I notice that many forumers are asking for medical advice on different conditions/illnesses. Some advice are good advice, some are common sense, and others can be very bad advice which can lead to bad outcomes.

Therefore, I'm taking the initiative to start a topic where health care workers can give their advice/opinions to different needs or questions from forumers. The idea is to link all healthcare professionals here with people who may benefit from their expertise in one topic.

TAKE NOTE THAT THE ADVICE GIVEN HERE IS NOT MEANT TO REPLACE A FORMAL CONSULTATION BY A QUALIFIED DOCTOR AND THE CONTRIBUTORS HERE CANNOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY MISHAP THAT MAY OCCUR AS A RESULT OF ADOPTING OR NOT ADOPTING THE ADVICE GIVEN.

There are limitations: we cannot examine you for any physical signs. This topic is only meant to give a general idea of the condition and to screen for serious illnesses.

To those who are interested in giving advice here, please state your designation (doctor, medical student, nurse, etc) and your area of specialty/interest (medical, orthopaedics, O+G, etc)

It is my hope that the LYN community may benefit from this.

List of Healthcare Professionals active in this thread:

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Name: Dr. Ben aka aeternalis
Designation: Medical Officer
Area of interest: ICU care, Anaesthesiology

Name: Mr.Docter
Designation: Medical student
Area of interest: Emergency and Trauma Department, Outpatient clinics (as for routine differential diagnosis) and Surgery.

Name: zstan
Designation: Pharmacy student
Area of interest: Clinical pharmacy

Name: H.A.S. aka trencher10
Designation: Medical student
Area of interest: Public Health, Infectious Diseases

Name: Dr Barb
Designation: Oral Surgeon
Area of interest: minor oral surgery

Name: Joshua aka paqralos
Designation: Physiotherapist
Area of interest: Neurology and musculoskeletal

Name: drthein71
Designation: Physician and Gastroenterologist
Area of interest : internal medicine, Gastroenterology, endoscopy, hepatology

Name: Dr. edge85
Designation: Dental Officer
Area of interest: Oral Surgery

Name: nanashah
Designation: Pharmacist
Area of specialisation: cytotoxic drug (chemotherapy), parenteral nutrition, extemporaneous preparation

Feel free to post here and we'll try to get back to you ASAP.

Comment on Poor TM Customer Service!

Just wanna share bad experience with TM Customer Service on Unifi.

I recently applied for VIP 20 for Unifi package because Kulim recently offer in my area. Was very happy! So I applied and eagerly awaited. Then very strangely, I got 3 emails. One is the order subscription, then got TWO order ID. I found that a bit weird so I call Customer Service.

They told me that TM made a mistake with my first order id because they put me for VIP 5 so they cancelled the first one and made me a second order id. BUT, my user id which is originally xxxxx@unifi.my have to become xxxxx1@unifi.my.

I know its just a single number behind the original id, but why do I (the customer) have to pay for their mistake right? Sommore its 2 years contract with unifi i have to be stuck with the id. So i say to them, not acceptable. I want my original id. The call technician told me can cancel the original order, but new order cannot confirm whether can get the original id and the intallation date cannot give same day (which is 5th of September)

Not satisfied, I say i want to speak to manager: one Mr. Rosli. Basically after long discussion and arguing with him, he also cannot provide proper solution. He also won't give me his full name and designation, he won't give me his superior's contact number. He however promise to settle everything by 16th September which is 11 days later. (Further delay even though its TM fault in the first place). I told him that if he cannot deliver on his promise, i will take further action.

So today, i check my unifi account and then got 3rd order ID. This one is registered correctly, but the installation date is 19th September which is 2 weeks later. So, i have written a complaint letter which I'll attach below.

What do you guys think? Am i being too cranky, or should i really pursue this matter? Maybe they'll cut off my internet line altogether

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

I would like to express my extreme dissatisfaction at the work ethic and professionalism of TMnet customer relations dept.

My main problem was the error in registration of my unifi package; whereby the wrong VIP package was subscribed by TMnet. I was told that because of this, my user id had to be changed. I wasn't even informed of this matter but had to find out on my own initiative.

As such, after contacting Customer Service, I was told that I have to accept this user id (even though it was TM's mistake). Otherwise, I would have to cancel my order and make a new order leading to my original installation date of 5/09/11 to be delayed.

Being dissatisfied, I demanded to speak to the manager and was referred to one Mr. Rosli. Please refer to the recorded telephone conversation between me and him. He was unwilling to give me his proper designation, or refer me to a person with greater authority than him and was unable to give me his contact number for accountability issues (due to protocol he explains).

He was able to make a promise however that my installation will be settled by 16/9/11. Unfortunately, I have found out today, that the new installation date was scheduled on the 19/9/11 which is clearly a failure on the part of customer service. Again, I found out this information on the unifi page with noone having the courtesy to update me on this matter.

I clearly stated to Mr. Rosli that in the event that he cannot deliver his promise, I will take further intervention.

Therefore, to the customer service official reading this: I would strongly suggest that you forward this email to your head. If I am not contacted soon with a satisfactory explanation or solution, I will be forwarding this complaint to various media newspapers such as the NST, Star, Malay Mail, etc.

I will also try to contact Vice President Hamidah Mahmud of Customer Relations to relate this matter through the proper channels.

Thank you,
Dr Ben
