Keeping old drivers installed

Hi, I just bought a new graphic card (GTX 1050 TI) and I am about to install its drivers. My old graphic card (Sapphire HD 6870) is still working, and I plan to keep it around as a spare.

I was wondering if there is any harm in keeping the old graphic card's drivers (AMD) installed while using the new graphic card's drivers (NVidia)?

Hi, my PC just started having problems with the display while trying to load a game this morning, so I rebooted it. After I rebooted it, it didn't manage to load windows. I see the BIOS screen at boot up, then at the part where the Windows 10 swirly thing should happen, the screen just goes blank.

Subsequent reboot yields the same result.

I'm going to try and troubleshoot further after I get home from work, but in case I need to get a new GPU (my initial suspect), would my current hardware be able to support a GTX 1050, or RX550/RX560?

My current setup is
Processor - i5 2500
Motherboard - Asus P8H67-M LE
PSU - CM V550

Currently I am using a Sapphire HD 7870, and its able to run all my games fine, so I don't actually need an upgrade, just a replacement, or something similar (in case that is causing the issue I am currently facing)

Selection of drive during booting up

When I power up my PC, sometimes it starts up and asks which drive I want to boot up with. Now this happens randomly (other times it just boots straight into Windows), and after selecting which drive to boot up from, Windows then boots up normally.

This morning when it started up, it required me to go into my BIOS settings (The screen showed some American Trend screen, and required me to go to into the BIOS), and from there I was able to the boot up selection from there.

I was wondering what is causing this to happen? Is it a sign that something (hardware?) is about to fail? If it is may I know what is about to fail?

My PC specs are as below (if it helps)
Intel Core i5 2500
Asus P8H67-M (never updated BIOS before, never saw a need for it/don't know how)
24 Gb RAM (its placed in the configuration of slot 1 to 4 - 4,8,4,8), all Kingston 1333 Value RAM
1 Tb Western Digital Green HDD
128 Gb Samsung Pro 850 SSD (never updated firmware. Afraid of bricking it from what I've read online)
Sapphire Radeon 7870
DVD Writer
500 W Cooler Master Silent PSU

I only added the 16 Gb of RAM, SSD, and replaced the HDD in March 2015, but the drive selection screen issue has been randomly occurring long before that.

String pouches for phones

Hi,

Recently got a new phone (Xperia Acro S) and I'm currently using a Casemate Hybrid Tough casing on it. But I wanted to get a draw string pouch for it (afraid of the screen getting scratched), similar to this:

But I notice that most phone shops don't seem to carry this type of pouches anymore. Does anyone know where I can buy this sort of pouch locally? Preferably around Selangor or KL?

I was attempting to play GW2, when I started it up, it performed an update, and when I tried to login, I got this:

When I tried to visit the support site, I got this error in my browser:

Server Error

502 - Web server received an invalid reponse while acting as a gateway or proxy server

There is a problem with the page you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed. When the Web server (while acting as a gateway or proxy) contacted the upstream content server, it received an invalid response form the content server.

The same also happens when I attempt to visit guildwars2.com.

I can visit other websites fine (Eg. Yahoo Mail) Is there something wrong with my connection settings?

Default Vista Burner

I recently used the default Vista burning program to burn some files into a dvd (roughly 4 Gb) After burning the disc successfully, I noticed that the free space in my hard disk space has reduced about 4 Gb as well. I think that the files are still being stored somewhere but I'm not sure where. Could someone tell me how do I free up this space? I've tried burning a second disc and the free space was reduced another 4 Gb.

What happens when you dial 999?

I was wondering what happens when you dial 999 on the phone or 112 on the handphone. Are you immediately connected to the nearest hospital, fire department or police department? Or is it an automated service (press 1 for English, followed by press 1,2 or 3 for the respective department?) I don't want to make a prank call or anything, I'd just like to know what happens when an actual emergency does happen. Wikipedia states that civil defense (991) and fire (994) in parallel with 999. Does anyone know what that means?

Extracting and reconstruction with photoshop

Could someone show me the steps(preferably in text) on how to do this in Photoshop CS 2? I read one site about using something called spot healing but I'm not sure if that works very well for me(either that or I'm not using it properly). I've never really used photoshop before(more used to MS Paint )

Is file transfering with the Nokia 7260 possible

My mum would like to transfer the photos in her Nokia 7260 to her new phone(Nokia 3500) but the 7260 doesn't have bluetooth capabilities. Is there a way to transfer the photos out? Can the authorized Nokia dealers help transfer the files out?

Question regarding my Earphones

I've been using my earphones (Philips SHE9500) for almost 2 years. For some reason the left earphone is not as loud as the right. Is this a result of wear and tear? I've tried listening using my headphones and I'm able to listen to things normally (just to check if I was losing my hearing)

Also, has anyone tried out the SHE 9700? Was thinking of getting those

File Transfer

I was wondering if anyone has experienced this before
int. hd contains file A and file B
ext. hd contains file C
When I transfer file A and file B into the ext hd(via copy and paste), the file name in the int hd is file A and file B, but the content of both files is file B. And when I transfered file C into the int hd, the file name is named file C but the content file A.

For the record, file A and file C(in the int hd) are in the same folder. Does anyone know what caused this and how to prevent it from happening in the future?

Interview after Medical Checkup?

I've been using the phone my brother passed to me(he got in from a mobile subscription in Australia) for about 6 months now and haven't had any problems until the last few days. The phone keeps showing "No access to network" instead of My Maxis. Is it something wrong with the phone or it is the service provider.

Program to monitor bandwidth

Is there a program you could recommend that could monitor which program is using up bandwidth(and also how much bandwidth exactly its using)? Cuz sometimes my modem's ethernet light is blinking rapidly even though I'm not downloading anything.

Previously, when I want to bid on an item, I choose place bid, and go through 2 screens asking me to confirm my bid. Now a third screen seems to come out, asking me to verify using my credit card(which I don't have btw).

Is this site trying to phish credit details? Or has ebay changed its policy that requires us to verify with our credit card even if we are just placing a bid? Has anyone else had this problem?

My Computer View

Usually My Computer would subdivide the drives in to categories like local hard drives on this computer, optical drives on this computer and files stored on this computer.

But now the view has reverted back to the original view(like in Windows 98's My Computer where there are no categories, just icons)

I would like to find out how to restore the view back to the categories?

Passing a variable

I'm writing a program to draw on command using MFC. I'm having trouble passing a variable from 1 cpp(MainFrm.cpp) to another cpp(ProgView.cpp). Is there a particular place I should declare a variable so that I can call and modify that variable from both cpps?

When I tried to call the variable I declared in MainFrm.h, I called it by declaring the MainFrm class as dlg in ProgView.cpp and then calling it by using name dlg.draw(draw is a bool type variable)

For those who are curious, I using the bool in an if statement within the OnPaint() function to draw something when the draw option is selected from the menu. If you have any suggestions on another way to do this, please let me know
