Why BookFest @ Malaysia is a waste of time

I visited the BookFest in KL recently and came away a bit disappointed. It was crowded with lots of children running around. The atmosphere was hardly conducive for taking your time to browse through the books. In terms of variety, there weren't any books or magazines that caught my attention. Or maybe because I couldn't wait to get out of there. Because of the way they segregated the halls, you have to go through cashiers to pay for your items before you can cross over to the next hall and human bottlenecks are created. I think perhaps the organisers were a bit paranoid about folks running off with their books. I ended up buying just one book, a city street directory (discounted price: RM34.90) which came with a free map. Guess what? I had to walk some distance, ask a few staff before I could find the counter to claim my free map. Why couldn't they have given it on the spot at the cashiers?

Lots of visitors who went were surprised to find out that the "BookFest" is nothing more than a huge Popular Bookstore warehouse sale. And they had the cheek to charge visitors an entrance fee which I suppose is used to offset their expensive venue rentals.

The venue wasn't ideal, either. The convention centre is just beside Suria KLCC (at Petronas Twin Towers) and you would have to brave through the shopping crowd to get there. And parking isn't cheap either. It was a complete waste of my afternoon. I would be better off spending my time at other bookstores where I don't get stressed or have to pay to be a customer -- stores like Borders at The Curve, MPH at Publika and so on.

Event: Bookfest @ Malaysia 2011
Date: 27 Aug - 4 Sep 2011
Time: 10am - 10pm
Venue: Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), Halls 1-5
Entrance fee: RM2.50 for adults
Parking at KLCC: RM4 for less than 2 hrs
Verdict: Unlikely to visit again next year.

PS: This is my personal opinion. If you have kids, or you enjoy having kids running around, or if you are a fanboy wanting autographs from Lee Sinjie etc, then you may like it.
Can re-create Volvo sound system in a Proton Saga?

I remember some years ago I test-drove the Volvo S40 with Dynaudio sound system (w/fiber optic cables etc) and it sounded so good. Just wondering if I can re-create the same in a Proton Saga BLM?

Batteries for iBook G3/G4

The batteries for my two 3-4 yr old laptops (iBook G3 and G4) need to be replaced. I remember seeing a shop at Low Yat Plaza that can "re-cycle" old batts and make them like new? Anyone knows if that would work? Is that shop still around?

Thanks for your input.

Anyone suffering from nasal polyps?

Anyone suffering from nasal polyps - a growth inside the nose which causes snoring, headaches and difficulty in breathing? Just want to hear your experience. Did u go for laser removal? How much is the procedure and how effective is it? I read on the internet that even after surgery, there is a 50% chance of the growth coming back. Thanks for your input.
