Grand Paradise Highway Hotel worst hotel ever

Inb4 /k/ is not your personal blog.

So after whole day of driving, my wife desperately look for hotel and all of it is fully booked. We didnt expect small town like Taiping will run out of hotel rooms, except for two budget dirt cheap hotel, this is the only so called "decent" hotel left, and for RM98 on offer , this should be an ok one. So I thought that time. Just look at the picture here:

We were fooled. We should have read the review. It was mostly bad.

So of we go to Grand Paradise Highway Hotel. It look kind of okay from outside. On the reception is one pakcik on reception. No hello, no good evening or a smile, kind of expected for a mid budget hotel in Malaysia.

Here is what we got :

Either the room is not tidied properly or never being tidied at all.

Old furniture:

Broken water heater with exposed wiring on the ceiling which is elecrical hazard.

Anothere electrical hazard :

Hole below the sink

I've stayed in RM60 hotel before, and that is in the middle of KL. It is not perfect but still better than this one. At least everything is working fine and clean.

850 kcal for lunch and Americans still complains?

850kcal is almost 1 McD meal minus the soft drinks, which is enough for most average sized people . Even an active person need 3000 kcal per day only which can easily be compensented by snacks ( I doubt many teenagers in US is considered "active" in this X-Box age ) . Most Malaysian from my observation eat at least 500 extra kcal per day and do not exercise at all.

Car blacklist settlement. (as guarantor)

Hi /k/ to summarise without being TLDR here is the situation:

1. I'm a guarantor for my brothers car. (foolishly, it was 5 years ago, expensive lesson learn here).
2. My brother default on the car and with 24k needed to be payed to clear my name.
3. Im going to pay the default in lump sump to clear it.
4. Im not sure where is the car, my irresponsible brother claim that its in a workshop for "engine repair" but wont tell where is the exact locatioin. Hes in East Malaysia now and my mother want to go to the workshop to see whether the car still exist or not, but he repeatedly refuses to do so. (So Im assuming the car is gone now, but im wondering how? and why because its impossible for him to transfer name of the car without clearing bank loan or selling the car).

I want to brainstorm on what approach I should handle this situation to minimize damage on my side. Was thinking of

1. Changing the ownership to my name (however risk is if the car is being used for criminal purpose.). Was thinking of the change name so that i could take control of the car in order to locate it or prevent him from selling it if the car still exist and songlap the money for himself.
2. Any idea how to locate the car?

So what else could I do /k/ ?

It doesn't sound like this all the time and sometimes when engine is warmer the sound is gone, so I have to describe to the mechanic what could be wrong.

When i searched on google it says 40 mins swimming will burn off 500+ calories. However i do not feel tired at all although a treadmill session at 6.4kmh for just 1/2 hour makes me feel much tired and i burned just slightly above 200kcal. My weight is 84kg and my height is 170cm.

Edited :I swim at a moderate pace of 20m per minute. And my heartbeat was something like 80-120 bpm

Some ways that I use to prevent scam:

i) Using IS suite with some sort of browser add ons (AVG link safe, F-Secure browsing protection.)
ii)Use Mozilla Firefox or Chrome as much as possible with Web Of Trust (WOT) add ons. If I have to use IE, Smart Screen Filter must be on.
iii)Configure DNS to Open DNS. https://store.opendns.com/setup/device/windows-xp/

This way, I have multi layer protection against malware and scam links. If one missed, the other might catch it.

Unstable network connection using Wifi

Hi,

I have an issue with my Wifi where the connection constantly dropped, usually if I start a new download or open a new page. Other computer in my house connect fine without drop out, except this one. I do not have admin access for this laptop to install driver as this is a work computer. Any other idea what might cause this? I prefer not to go to office for now to contact IT as I'm working@home because of recent accident and possibly try troubleshooting steps that dont require admin access.

The August test used Windows 7 while a just-completed test challenged the same vendors under Windows XP SP2. Antivirus product ratings from AV-Test.org

Quite a few products scored significantly lower under Windows XP than they did under Windows 7. For Microsoft Security Essentials 1.0 that meant the difference between achieving certification and missing that goal. The fact that many of these products upgraded to a newer version before or during the XP-based test didn't seem to help them.

On the flip side, PC Tools scored significantly better under the Windows XP test. Trend Micro has significantly updated their protection, but both of these tests used last year's Trend Micro suite. This product was much more successful under XP, so much so that it received certification for XP but not for Windows 7.

Kaspersky, Panda, and Norton Internet Security 2011 shared the top score in the Windows 7 test, each with a total of 16 points and no score below 5. Only Norton stayed on top in the Windows XP test. Kaspersky's total dropped to 14 points and Panda's to 13. F-Secure stayed totally consistent, receiving the exact same scores in both tests for a near-the-top total of 15.5 points.

It seems clear from these results that Windows XP is more vulnerable to malware attack than Windows 7 and hence more difficult to protect. PCMag's own testing regimen for antivirus programs uses Windows XP exclusively, both because it's more vulnerable and because the numerous virtual machines involved can be much smaller when Windows XP is the operating system. If you're still using Windows XP, check the chart above to make sure you've got appropriate security protection.
