Original Dell 90w adapter burnt twice

Hi typing this from mobile cos adapter burnt.

Problem: Dell Vostro 1500 no more warranty 8600GTM

Played a few hours first adapter burnt. Out of nowhere.

Few weeks later bought another one from friend, smoke came out after playing for few hours.

Cause: I thought my electricity is irregular so I bought AvR for my laptop adapter to test. Burnt also. Could it be short circuitor what as I'm plugged in to my house HDTV via VGA... Or my faulty battery (doesn't charge)

Next to do: I need suggestion. Should I buy another adapter and pray, or send it to some shops in LYP to test, or walk in to nearest Dell service centre?

Direct dialup connection from Windows

Dear all, help me out here for a bit.

I am 384kbps streamyx subscriber.

Scenario: I have two modems, 1 router.

I tried direct connection dialled from the modems (setting pppoe in the modem), and dial the connection only to see that I get 48kbps (expected). Setting my modem as bridge, using my router to dial the connection, same thing.

HOWEVER, if I set my modem to bridge mode, and use Windows XP/7 broadband dialler, I get 1MBps speed.

I tried messing with the MSS, MTU, VCI, VPI and still cannot figure out why.

Even the TM staff does not know why.

Any idea why? I find this very fascinating.

So for question 48÷2(9+3):

Would you go and do:

48÷(2(9+3)) first

or

48÷2(9+3) this first?

Note that Wolfram and Google Calculator does the latter first. Can someone please justify the coding convention applied here. Cos if you visit that thread in /k/ *albeit it's from /k/* a lot of people argue that the 2x() must be done first despite the left to right rule over same precedence.

Hi all,

I know wKkaY last time tried to implement the HTTPS for login handler but disabled it because some users are facing blankscreen after logging in.

But I never realised that https:// connection supported, however you gotta manually trigger it (I noticed that from wK's url that he posted)

Is it supposed to be known to public? ~~Or is there a way to force it to use https?~~

Ok managed to trigger it using Use HTTPS extension for Chrome.

Whenever I click on the link for the latest post, it shows me the first post. Damn annoying.

Any idea is it just me or what?

Security Conferences in Malaysia

Well I'm not sure if I can use the official tag for this one, but it's just a general discussion thread on security conferences held in Malaysia.

To start of with, anyone of you here actually went for a security conference before? (No AV Sellers please).

I'd been to HITB, and yesterday HackerHalted (I went on behalf of a colleague and when he came I just stayed XD) and I find both pretty interesting and informative. You get to see people that is doing the real deal and get updated information on their thoughts upon uprising issues, etc.

Generally any information in relation to security that you came across an event, talk, speech, or conference will apply.

I really hope to get constructive replies from the members in Sec & Pri subforum. Thanks.

Alright I searched and the nearest topic is at 2008 so yea.

Anyone with Adblockplus on Chrome that manage to block this ad in LYN?

That's the only one it didn't catch. I tried manually setting it to block it but it didn't work I wonder why.

Any ideas?

Using LAN for certain applications

I read around, searched around, and I saw a thread in Software months ago of a related question.

How to enable certain applications to use LAN while some use Wifi?

Search engine result came back saying it's impossible due to the OSI architecture.

The thread here that I read saying hosting a proxy server can do the trick.

Now, *in before lmgtfy* is it possible to use a proxy server to configure 2 segments (1 wifi 1 LAN) and use 3rd party softwares like Proxifier to make the application run a certain proxy?

If that works, any guide on what proxy server and how to set it up? I'm not sure how one can segregate both.

p/s -- I have a default proxy server running on localhost as it's a company setting. However my problem is I'm trying to get Wifi and LAN to work for diff applications without pulling out the cable and putting it in.
