Life as a Project Manager

Hey guys,

So as title says I'm a Project Manager for 7 months+ & on going and currently suffering super stress at work which I feel suffocated...

I work for a good friends & of they're my boss & director in a small & just start-up company, we have a very stingy investor, we have real good relationship among bosses & staffs & each of us do what we do best...

We have 3 juniors programmers & 1 senior...

I have no problem manage the team, scheduling, planning as what a project manager does & hell i even privately motivate these junior developers whenever we makan or yumcha, i even treat them starbucks, coffeebean, lunch, dinner & etc whenever i could as my appreciation for their cooperation to make my project managing job easier WITH my own pocket money...

Although the company is small but has no issue getting new project, furthermore we gotten so many projects until the team felt worried that we can't finish them on time...

We having hard time finding senior programmer which our situation now strongly demanding one...

We been OT (Overtime till midnight like 3~5am or overnight in office) for months (Not continuously, to sum up atleast 2 months of OT) for 2 mid size projects before we manage to finish this 2 projects (Completion of 80%), bosses already found another 3 mid-big size projects so you can see they're stacking up & meantime MORE are coming in!!!!!!

The team started to grew worried but I'm still trying my best to motivate them & chill them up on behalf of myself, the company & bosses, what makes the matter worse is I ran out of "beautiful" reason to motivate & convince them why we should endure more OT in future...When will this OT stop, when will the company hire more men-power to solve these over-tasking issue?

FYI, no OT claim but dinner, no incentive for project completion, junior developers were all very talented programmer they joined in these 2 mid size projects development right after they passed their probation but of course there're much more to learn so often they got stuck & cliff-hanging, company is only a startup so financially is all about sustaining staffs salary, pay the electric & water bill etc

Plus a super-stingy investor who only provides office place that's it...And oh ya, they come & ask for project payment each & every week zzz...

I have no issue with the OT, low pay and workloads because I'm people who strongly believe if i sacrifice more I will get more in future. I can foresee the feasible good future in this company, I also have no trouble believing what promises made by my bosses in regard of the repay they could give me one day when the company success. If worst come to worst at least I still learn something so i got nothing to lose

I hope you may provide some guidance & opinion according to my situation now and hey motivation is always welcome!!

1. Any living sample here who work so hard for a company(Friend as boss, relative as boss & etc) which had finally succeeded & thrived??

2. My objective is all about making sure the team work efficiently while my bosses believe in putting stress on staffs to get the best out of them...What do you think especially in my company situation now??

3. Although staffs are talented but they're still new & much to learn BUT bosses always think they aren't trying hard...But in my point of view, they really did their best (Based on their current skill level)...How & what should i do??

4. I had explained to bosses about how hard for us to digest these overflowing projects on current situation but they used that as a reason to further push the developers & said if they don't complete on-hand projects asap then more projects will stack up thus more ot...As some-kind of threatening message zzz...In my opinion, it's a totally wrong mindset but what can i do??

5. Most of the time bosses aren't around for lunch, dinner or chill with the team because they have to meet clients & other company things to busy with also they don't often share out company situation such as financial status and agenda to the staffs so I'm basically the bridge who communicate with bosses then share these info with others. Imo this isn't right because while staffs willing to fight for you, as a boss you should show that you care despite how stressful or busy are you...What you think?

6. Finally, I think the investor should do more like organize eat out, light event, injecting more money for the company so staffs got their OT claims & incentive to compensate their sacrifice instead of providing a working space & wants everyone to be appreciate! And urging for sales payment every often!!

Recently being called for interview at Datacom Systems Asia Sdn Bhd at bandar utama for job role as APS Developer (Automation platform support/application support developer)...If you wonder this is gonna be my second fulltime after 3 years from previous company...

IMO:
- Pay is real good
- Location is good (For me atleast)
- Company reputation is good either

My doubts are:
1. I don't see much APS developer out there so i wonder its grow in future...
2. Company culture for IT division?
3. I can handle harsh working hour BUT just how harsh can this particular role be?

Any kind souls who worked in this post before or heard 1 or 2 bout its nature please share it with me!

Question regarding L license for motorcycle

Hi guys,

I passed my D license 2~3 years ago....Now i wanted to get a L licence for motorcycle...
If you wonder, I will get a 800cc bike soon & i don't bother to get B full so soon maybe after 2 years time (Its a fixed decision)...

1. Any different for L car & L motorcycle in terms of application?

2. Should i apply L licence on driving institute or I can go JPJ to apply straight?

3. Should i retake those computer test? Any seminar to attend??

4. Is there anything so called L for B full or L for not-B full?

Ducati Monster 696 as my first bike

Hi all pros/master/sifu on bike world,

Ok so i straight to the point, am 23 this year 178 height, 80kg (Not sure if its needed to judge the size of the bike suitable or not) staying in KL, working currently and being a driver for 4 years+ and i always wanted to get a bike...

The reason is simple, to avoid traffic jam (trafficjamphobia), to get easy parking, to save time, to save fuel and of course to get the cool-ness

I'm don't have any good knowledge or experience on bike, nvr actually ride one before, no bike license yet (atleast for now) so i can't judge how good a bike is BUT ducati monster 696 was the one who got me attention (its like first love in first sight) so i do some research and i know monster series also come with 795, 796, 1100, and etc...I know its 600+ cc, 300+lbs, can reach 100km/h in 4s, sexy body and frames, Rm59k or more or less (not so sure yet), air-cooled system and etc...

Well, i do know that people often get advise on getting smaller bike/scooter as first bike since its easy to learn and whatever, i saw and read all these from yahoo.answer and from my research but to me i always think getting what you want or like is something truly different and that kind of feeling is awesome!

What im planning to do is that i will grab a bike (most probably 696, unless i got convinced on some other good bike/advise) in 6 months time then i self-train around my housing area for few months (don't bother bout the license as i will get it b4 i get a bike) so i need you guys advise for a guy like me do you think ducati 696 suit me as my first bike in terms of handling, maneuver, size or anything that will be a factors pros/cons. You may also pm me if you wanted too
