WTA Automatic watering system for plants

My plants in my garden dried and almost died after I was away for one week. I am thinking to install an automatic watering system for a mixture of potted plants and plants directly on the ground. I did some search and found an inexpensive solution such as below.

Would like to gather feedback from any sifus that have used this before on its pros & cons and its reliability?

Couldnt recharge iPad, in apple logo loop

Hi all, seeking help. I have an iPad 3 (aka the new iPad) and here is what happened:

1. I did not recharge in time so the iPad battery drained and power is out, I probably have left it for 1 day with the drained battery.

2. After I found out, i then tried to charge it using the ac adapter: the white iPad logo will show up for 22s = 25s and then screen went black again, and this logo shown and gone loop continuously.

3. I googled for some solution
a. Some advised to enter into DFU mode and let it charge for 24hrs. I tried, after 24hrs, still the logo loop.

b. Some advised to enter into DFU mode and do restore. I tried, but the iPad is turned off just before itune start the restore and unable to detect iPad.

c. Some advised that while charging, keep pressing both and hold both Power and Home buttons whenever white logo is shown to force turn off the iPad, repeat for 10min. I tried and it didnt work as well

d. Some advised to use the 12w power adapter, I tried, still same logo loop.

Any advise how to fix the ipad?

Acer Aspire E5-474G / E5-574G series

Am scouting for new laptop for everyday use.

Stumbled upon Acer Aspire E5-474G / E5-574G series costing around 2K for i5-6200U processor.

Maybe it's relatively new, couldn't find and local review or feedback for this model, except being highlighted as the laptop for the budget conscious in the Intel and MS sponsored lowyat.net article.

Those model with i5-6200U processor comes with 3 yrs warranty, which is pretty cool.

Seeking feedback for:
1. Anyone who has bought E5-474G / E5-574G i5-6200U model, any complaint on the laptop?
2. How is Acer overall after sales service for recent past 1-2 yrs?

Installing Smoke Alarm in a House

Planning to put in some preventive / detective measures for fire safety. First is on smoke alarm. Would like to discuss:

1. Did some search and found there were few types (primarily photoelectric vs ionization), and photoelectric type seemed to be the better type all things considered. Anyone has different opinion on this?

2. As my house do not have in-built wiring from alarm system to connect to a smoke detector, and would be costly to do so post renovation. It seemed those wireless battery operated smoke alarm would be the only solution. Any way I can somehow integrate in such I can be alerted when the smoke alarm triggered, even when I am not at home?

3. I searched around smoke alarm price range varied from RM20+ to RM100+ per unit. Any idea what are the quality/specification variation that we should take note of?

3. Any reliable place to buy smoke alarm/detector in klang valley?

[WTA] Condo water leakage repair cost

Hi All,

Recently downstairs neighbour reported water leakage from my condo unit and upon checking two areas are leaking - bathroom floortrap and kitchen in-flow pipe.

I got a contractor to fix it and he charged me total of RM1100. Seemed expensive. Is the cost reasonable for the work done?

Beakdown:
1. bathroom floortrap water proofing and patchwork - RM450
2. kitchen basin PVC piping (inside the wall) replacement and patchwork - RM650
