Branded Handbags

Would like to get opinions from fashionistas out there, if you were to purchase a branded handbag for example, say RM2000 and you have used it for 1 year, how many % do you think this bag should depreciate? I am curious as I see from resellers from lowyat forums, the discounts varied differently. To me, I think the reasonableness of the depreciation should be 50% off the original purchase price.

Secondly, when you initially purchased an item for RM2k and resell it for RM1.6k after a year for example with original receipt provided to the buyer, the buyer then resell the item with a higher price after that. Do you think it is not right in a sense? I have encounter one incident like that which I think one should actually restate (put a remark) in the receipt that it is sold to a 2nd person instead of leaving the 3rd users unaware that the item is a secondhand.

Do share your views! Thks!

Article: Low Quality Skin Care & Cosmetics

(An article extracted from the star news on the 14th Sept today)
I thought of giving a small reminder to the ladies/ boyfriends who have not read this article to take precaution when choosing skin care and cosmetics products, heard from some of my friends that some cosmetics/ skin care are low quality products & the chemicals used r not dermalogy tested, some r mainly imported from China, in very attractive packaging on the purpose to deceive buyers. My advice is to consult a pharmacist or a skin specialist if you have sensitive skin. Most importantly do your own research before purchasing anything - even if they owned a shop/ stall.

PETALING JAYA: An advertising executive’s dream of becoming a beauty turned her into an ‘ugly’ maid instead.

Patricia Choo Siew Mei’s face swelled and broke out in rashes after using beauty products worth thousands of ringgit bought from a major shopping mall in Kuala Lumpur.

She claimed she was approached by the beauty products outlet via her handphone in June and was enticed to take up their offer of a free consultation.

“I was convinced to buy their facial care products worth RM4,000,” she told a press conference at MCA Public Services and Complaints Department yesterday.

Bad reaction: Siew holding up a photo of her swollen face during a press conference at the MCA Public Complaints and Service Department at Wisma MCA yesterday.

The 33-year-old said her troubles began after using the beauty products for two weeks.

“My face became itchy with a burning sensation. I was so embarrassed, I did not want to venture out of my apartment for three weeks,” she related.

Choo went back to the beautician who sold her the products but was told to continue using them.

When her condition persisted, her doctor diagnosed her with acute dermatitis.

She had spent RM450 on two treatments by her doctor since Aug 24 and is still undergoing treatment.

She had also filed a complaint with the Consumer Tribunal.

Department chief Datuk Michael Chong urged beauticians to test their facial care products on a small patch of their client’s skin before selling the product.

Chong added that the Department had received 13 similar complaints.
