What to Buy - DVD/USB Head Unit

Hi,

I last installed my Head Unit around 7 years ago, Sony brand.
Recently the CD feeder kaput, cannot feed in CD anymore... Even when I push in also cannot... Can only reject.

So now I'm thinking maybe time to replace the Head Unit.

Any recommendations?
Not looking for expensive one (not an audiophile), just need a basic unit that can read from DVD and also USB.

Not sure of the price nowadays, but I think I can avoid Alpine (beyond budget) hehe.

Fujifilm Z900EXR v Nikon S6100 v Canon IXUS 310

Hi,

I am not an avid photographer, but am going to mount Kinabalu later this month, so I figured to buy a new camera to replace my old one (bought 7-8 yrs back, battery died).

I have narrowed my choices down to these 3 models:
1. Fujifilm FinePix Z900EXR - http://www.dpreview.com/products/fujifilm/...ujifilm_z900exr
2. Nikon Coolpix S6100 - http://www.dpreview.com/products/nikon/com...s/nikon_cps6100
3. Canon IXUS 310 HS - http://www.dpreview.com/products/canon/com...canon_ixus310hs

Anyone have any idea how much these costs? From Canon website the Ixus costs around RM1.1k but the rest I can't seem to find any info.

Also anyone have any hands-on experience with these cameras? Any pros and cons to comment?

Thanks!

MemTest problem [resolved], BSOD still happening

Ok some background information...
Recently I've been having random BSOD and the dreaded nvidia driver 'has been restarted' problem.
The BSOD errors are even random, sometimes getting IRQ issues sometimes MEMORY_MANAGEMENT and whatnot.

The thing is, on lucky days, I can play games for hours and no BSOD. On unlucky days, even when surfing websites the BSOD will struck.

At first I thought it's video card issue, so I plugged in my spare video card (older model from older pc) but the same thing happens.

So next I decided to try the RAMs using MemTest86.

I have 4 pieces of RAM:
2 x 1GB RAM (PC667) - Let's call these RAM A
2 x 2GB RAM (PC800) - Let's call these RAM B
For a total of 6GB

Test case 1:
When I first started MemTest86, it's with all 4 pieces plugged in. The system hangs around 6 seconds into the test.
Test case 2:
I plugged out both RAM B, and test runs smoothly, no error.
Test case 3:
I plugged out both RAM A, and plugged in both RAM B. The system reboots around 8 seconds into the test.
Test case 4:
I plugged out one piece RAM B and left one in, test runs fine, no error.

Test cases 1 and 3 can be replicated and every time it fails with the same symptoms (test case 1 will hang, test case 3 will reboot).

I tried switching around the DIMM slots when testing piece by piece, no error. So all the DIMM slots are functioning.

So now I can safely assume my RAM pieces are fine, but am still boggled by the weirdness of test cases 1 and 3 which I highly suspect is what causing my BSODs.

I then plugged out my hdd power cable and casing fan to see if power is the issue, both test cases 1 and 3 can be replicated with the same error, no difference.
Maybe hdd and fan doesn't consume much juice, but I don't have anything else to plug out (MemTest86 is running on my DVDROM).

So any ideas? Any fellows out there face this issue before? Please help! I'm super loss at what to do now.

Maps for Nokia 5530

Hi people, I'm new to this smartphone thingy.

Anyway, I just bought the 5530 recently, and I notice that the phone doesn't have GPS built-in. So is it still possible to have a map software installed? I don't really need GPS, just need some sort of offline maps I can browse when needed.

If so, which application is best recommended for this particular phone?

Thanks!

Help me diagnose

Here's my computer problem, chronologically ordered:

1) Was transfering files from thumbdrive, suddenly BSOD.
2) Turn off and on PC, but nothing happens. No beep, nothing on screen. Power LED is on and fans are running.
3) Turn off and on again, this time there's a POST beep, but then hangs while "Initialising USB devices".
4) Turn off and on again, realise my BIOS has been reset (can see BIOS logo screen, supposed to be disabled). So I press DEL to enter BIOS setup.
5) While going thru the BIOS options, hangs.
6) Turn off and on again, this time I can go into BIOS and set everything back to as before. Even the date/time was reset.
7) Now everything is ok... But which piece of my hardware is failing?

At first because of BSOD, I thought it was RAM problem. But recently I already ran Memtest86 and results are clean. There's no graphical artifacts or anything, so I guess I can assume the problem is not due to the GFX card. It hangs before it even load Windows, so I guess the HDD is not the issue as well.

So is it the mobo? Or the PSU? I've never had any problem with the mobo nor the PSU before so I don't have the experience to tell or the know-how to diagnose further... Any expert out there can help me out?

Mobo is Asus and PSU is CM.

Thanks!

Anyone know where to find guitar tab (preferably) or music sheet for aforementioned song in topic description... ?

No, I'm not that expert to play these tabs yet, just want to look-see.

This style of plucking is considered bossa nova, right?

Looking to get into music

Hey all,

I'm looking to get into music as a hobby, but I have totally zero experience in it.

Just wanna ask a few questions, I hope all the masters here will advice.

Currently I'm looking at either the guitar or the keyboard... Which one is easier to learn and cheaper?

What are the steps I should take... Should I buy the instrument first? Or attend classes first? Should I just register for classes with zero experience, or try to self-study first via websites and etc etc?

Kindly recommend as well what type of guitar/keyboard to buy as a beginner. Should I go straight for those mid-range ones or those paria made-in-china ones? What kind of pricing will I be looking at here?

Any good beginner's website to recommend? I was looking at the guides at ultimate-guitar.com and boy I have no idea at all where to start.

Thanks in advance!

UPDATE 20th July 2009: Bought my guitar! Seeking tips & tricks for classical guitar
