MySql 4.1 installation

Hi all,

Good day everybody. Three days ago i decided to install MySQL 4.1.12a in my WIN 2000 computer. The installation is perfect except it generate error "error Nr. 1045 access denied for user 'root@localhost'(using password:YES) " and "Cannot create Windows service for MySQL.Error:0" in the end of the installation. I try to reconfigure the setting and it work (service created) but then i realized that "apply security settings" configuration is not checked.
After that i try all function likes create DB, add, delete and etc, it works. The problem is, when i create a PHP file, it cannot connect to the MySQL database. I already check the database name and DB password in PHP coding, it exactly same with the MySQL DB. Anyone have an idea what's wrong with my MySQL connection? Thank you.
