Hi all, need your advice or suggestion - been reading around but been pretty confused by all the different options and packages.

Basically I just need Internet access for one week when I go back to my hometown in Penang and I prefer Maxis and because i'm also a maxis postpaid user.

I already have a MAXIS HSDPA 7.2 USB modem and was considering the Prepaid Internet Sim Pack plan where i get the SIM only for 3 days or more :

Question is whether this type of plan still available and where I can purchase this SIM around KL ? Or if no longer available, what other options I have - the cheapest and for one week only? Coverage shouldn't be a problem as I'm staying in the town area ...

Open muitiple text files with Notepad at once

Is it possible to select all text files and open them simultaneously using Notepad? In windows we can do that by going into the selected folder, highlight all the text files and right-click Open, and all the files will be open at once in separate Notepads.

I know it's possible to read all the content of the files and write them into a single text file - but that'll be the last option if there's no way for me to do this.

I guess the flow of the process shud be something like this :

Iterate in folder until all the text files finished (no matter what the quantity of the text files)
For every file found, launch a Notepad to open it

Need your suggestion guys, as I'm still new to VB. Would appreciate it if have some code snippets to start me off. If VB is not suitable, try to suggest other alternatives - batch, perl, C/C++, etc.

Setup Dlink DSL2640T as access point only

Hi got a problem here.. hope you all can help me out by your suggestions.

I've gor maxis wireless broadband currently and want to set-up a wireless AP. The reason I bought the Dlink DSL2640T (wireless modem+router+4 ports) is the in the future i want to shift back to fixed line, so no need to buy another modem.

My question is now : How do I disable all functionality of the routing and modem so that it'll be just a wirelless AP.

I've done the following after reading some forums but still can't access the internet.

(1) Set-up the IP address of the Dlink in the same subnet of the network but out of the range the maxis modem DHCP range.
(2) Disabled DHCP on the Dlink.

The result is that :
(1) i can connect to the wireless AP but can't access internet using my wireless.
(2) BUT if i use the wired connection (4 ports on the Dlink), with two PCs connected - both can access the internet.

my guess is that I've missed out something in the filtering settings and so forth in the advanced settings.

Short Term Professional Programming Courses

I'm currently working as a software engineer in a semicon company but was not from an IT background. I picked up my skills from lots of self-study and DIY but I came to a point that I realized I've not really mastered the programming languages - all i know was a bit here and a bit there. I want to move into the IT industry but due to my background, many times I was rejected or even when I go to the interviews, I find that I can't really answer those really technical questions.

Want to find short term training courses (a few months, part-time) specialises in programming with certification. Was thinking of doing a Masters in IT but it'll take too long of a time... I'm planning to do the courses on a part-time basis only.

So can anyone recommend any institutes/uni/college that has these short term programs specialising in programming? I'm looking specifically at C++/C#, .NET or Java.

I'm staying in KL btw. Any help would be appreciated.

Prospect in semiconductor industry nowadays

Was thinking of changing from my current field to semiconductor industry - but with the recent slump in US economy, the overall semicon industries as I know is slowing down and quite many people are chao-ing from the semicon companies. So I just want to ask, is this a good time to go into the industry? or should I wait?

I don't mind riding out the low season as I'm more interested to learn and pick up some new skills and challenges. I'm considering one of the offer from a semicon company to join them and not so sure that whether is this a good time to join them or remain where I am.
