Hi, need help here identifying what kind of accounting software i need.

I run a nationwide business where my customers are required to pay a fixed subscription fee on a monthly basis. Due to the sheer volume of accounts, i am having trouble keeping track of which of my customers' subscription is overdue or partly overdue. (Think of it like i own 100 properties throughout the country and is having trouble keeping track of which of my tenants are not paying.)

Is there any accounting software in the market which will cater for this? I had been using MS excel, but its getting too tedious to update so many accounts. Mine is a small private company. Budget is around rm200-400.

Car accident aftermath (Crazy Girl "Professor")

Just wanna share my crazy exchange with this self-proclaimed "MONASH PROFESSOR" (for here-forth referred to as A). This is most probably gonna be a long rant. Just feeling like dishing some out after what happened.

Yesterday, my mom "accidentally" banged A's car when she was on her way back from the pasar malam at SS2, PJ. (Really, it is an accident. No malice whatsoever. As she approaches a T junction at the housing area, the sun's glaze (6-7pm) completely blocked her vision and she can't see the oncoming car. She slowed down and braked but i guess the glaze distraction proves too much. )

My mom's car did not suffer much damage, some paint from A's car came off to it, nothing a good old polish can't solve. A's car's (Proton iswara) back bumper came off, hanging from one side and almost touching the ground. There was no other noticeable damage to the car/bumper. Should be a pretty straightforward job to repair. Just need to screw/install it back the car. As expected from any victim of an accident, A came out all gun blazing, starts howling, blaming and asking for blood etc. (I dun get why the need for animosity. Its not like my mom was not apologetic or is deflecting blame.) My mom is in her early 50s, had never had an accident throughout her 30 years of driving (at least thats what she said) and was at a lost on what to do. She gave my father a call and after negotiating thru the phone, it was amicably agreed that we would bear the cost of repairs at the workshop of our choice. A was told that the workshop is at Kayu Ara. As it was past 7pm, we agreed to contact each other this morning so what I can lead her to the workshop. Its all great and cool so far. We saved ourselves the trouble of going to the police station to make reports. My mom's car NCD will not decrease. Its not gonna cost a lot of screw the bumper back in, at most rm100 or maybe less.

Which brings us to this morning. My mom received a sms this morning at 9pm. The content is as such:

Its already 9am, i am still waiting for you to contact me. I am a MONASH PROFESSOR . I need to be at work by 11. If you do not contact me by 11pm i will be making a police report.

I have no idea what A is trying to achieve by telling me she is a "MONASH PROFESSOR". Nonetheless, my mom told me she looks like to be in her late 20s to early 30s. I feel its not likely for her to hold a P.H.D at her age. I could be wrong. However, the more likely explanation would be she referred to herself as a professor but in fact, she may be a lecturer. I called A and a man answered the phone. I think he is A's father or brother or BF. I am not sure. We had an amicable conversation in Cantonese. I apologized for being late in contacting them and gave him directions to meet at the petrol station at Kayu Ara, beside damansara secondary school near the damansara toll station. The workshop i am bringing A to is an old acquaintance of my father. We felt that the price there is honest and had always dealt with them for car repairs. It is located at Kampung Kayu Ara. I stay at Taman Megah.

Halfway through the conversation, without prompt, A took the phone and started talking to me in Mandarin. Although i am chinese, i was malay/english-educated. I mostly speak cantonese at home. Through forceful mandarin tuition classes during my primary school era, i am able to understand most Mandarin-speaking folks. I am not fluent speaking Mandarin. I asked her whether she is comfortable if the conversation is in english or cantonese. She told me she is most comfortable if we proceed in Mandarin. Below are the gist of what she said in a 5-10 minute timeframe: (All in Mandarin)

She needs to be at work by 11. It is impossible for her to drive her iswara to kayu ara as her bumper is hanging down and scrapping the floor. She lives in Kelana Jaya, opposite kampung chempaka. She knows a cheap workshop at kampung chempaka which is nearer to her house. My mom is wrong and to be blamed for the accident. My mom needs to take responsibility. She keeps on telling me its very far from her house to kayu ara. She is unwilling to make the trip. She insist on going to her workshop as its nearer to her house. She said as we are in the wrong, we should not choose a workshop that is nearer to our house, ie., at our convenience and at her inconvenience.

Basically, try to image all those of the above said to you through the phone in Mandarin, with a loud voice, almost shouting, with an angry tone and non-stop. Really non-stop . Its not really a conversation. She does not allow any pauses in between for me to say anything. Its like its a freaking rant through the phone. By now, i am really pissed at being ranted at in the morning. I mean, if she were unwilling to travel Kayu Ara to begin with, why agree to it yesterday? She knew beforehand that the workshop we will be bringing her is at Kayu Ara. Furthermore, if she can travel from SS2 back to her house at Kelana Jaya yesterday, i don't see how making another trip to Kayu Ara is gonna be so hard for her. Its double the distance from SS2 to Kelana Jaya as SS2 is at the middle between Kayu Ara and Kelana Jaya.

I told her that if she should attempt to tie the bumper with some strings to make the short trip. If she were unable to do that, try to see if she can remove the whole bumper carefully and stow the whole thing inside the car and drive over. I even offered to drive over to her place to guide her to Kayu Ara. At every instance she refused. She said there is no way she would be making the trip to Kayu Ara and that she insisted that repairs should be done at her workshop. She suggest i go over to her workshop to see if the price is right or not.

At this point, i recognize that talks will not be reconcilable. The agreement from yesterday is obviously lost on her. So i told her if she is so insistent on going to her workshop, she should just make the police report and claim insurance. I told her i am sick of her ifs and buts. I am not gonna waste anymore time on the matter. This is where it gets ugly. She began to go into stuff like "moral obligation/responsiblity" to settle the matter and fix her car. More nonsense about karma and stuff, and how it is wrong to treat people like this. BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH in MANDARIN.........NONSTOP AGAIN........WITH A LOUD VOICE.

This really pisses me off. We had an agreement that i would pay for the repairs and the workshop of my choice. Since, she is adamant to ignore that, i felt that we were no longer agreeable to settle this among ourselves and should just let the law process it (report and claim insurance). Here she is talking about karma and crab. I ended the phone conversation with a big FU to her. She did not stop there. She targeted my mom next. The male who originally took my call, reached out to my mom by phone again to re-negotiate. After telling him that they should make the police report, A again hijacked the phone and ranted at my mom with her karma and crab. . I can tell even my mom is pissed. My mom scolded her for being crazy be4 cutting her off.

I felt that while we were the guilty party of the accident, the amount of piss we took is just unreasonable. I had never, ever been ranted at by through the phone. I think i am beginning to appreciate the hardships of all the phone answerer at customer services.

Missing Hard Drive....

Need some help here. Been using two hard disk on my desktop (4years old now, normally powered on 24/7.):

a) 500 WD hard disk partitioned into 3 parts (one with OS and 2 for storage)
b) 320 seagate hard disk partitioned into 2 parts for storage

I was watching a movie stored on one of the partition from the seagate. Suddenly, the movie froze. Tried to close mediaplayer, unresponsive. Then the window explorer pulak turn unresponsive. After freezing like 3min, finally explorer resume function. When i opened My Computer, two of my partition are gone (the seagates one). I shutdowned the pc and after 5 min booted it up.I noticed that the bios during bootup can detect the seagate. Subsequently i go into bios menu to confirm this. Under boot-up priority menu, the seagate label was still there. So, i can confirm that the the bios do recognize the HDD. When i again log in into window (for the first time, right after the Ist shutdown), the partition appeared again. I downloaded the seagate diag tool and ran the smart test on it, it passed the test. I then tried to watch another movie from the other partition (still seagate). It lasted longer, I was 40 min into the movie when the same thing happened again. I repeated what i previously did to make it work but this time, after bootup, the partition did not return . I retried it a few times (shutdown after shutdown) but partition never reappear. I made a note to see if the bios detect the hard disk during every bootup and it does. I do notice that it takes longer now to get through the HDD DIMM checking part after the bootup screen. Windows also takes longer to load-up. The seagate diag tool were unable to detect the HDD too.

After doing some googling, I opened up my casing, and tried to switch the power cable and sata cable between my primary and secondary HDD. I remembered to change the BU priority in bios. Was not able to boot-up OS. googled more. Changed the jumper on the HDD, was able to BU the OS, but seagate partition still missing. In between all these, i was also doing check-up on the windows disk management tools section. The seagate HDD was nowhere to be found. The HDD was also not listed under device manager.

In an desperate attempt, i tried to BU into safe mode (I dunno why i did this when i had no inkling on how to do software repair and troubleshooting under safe mode. It just feels like i need to access safe mode to make myself feel that i had exhausted all available remedies )

Lo and behold, i can see my missing partition. It was also listed at device manager and disk management. I was able to plug in my external HDD to make backups of the files in the seagate. I am now in the process of copying the files, It is gonna take another hour or so i think. So, here is what i need help and advices on.

A) Why does the HDD only functions/ appear in safe mode

B) Why can the bios detect the HDD but not windows

C) After all i had gone thru, should i take this as a sign that my seagate HDD is dying.....experiencing mechanical fault.....faulty....need to be replaced?, or

D) It is a software issue ie:

(i) There is a virus in the seagate HDD which renders into a houdini HDD, disappear and reppearing as it likes
(ii) There is a virus in the WD HDD, which renders the windows incapable of functioning properly, hence incapable of detecting the HDD
(iii) The windows are corupted or some software during start-up are preventing the seagate HDD to function properly.
(iv) altho a long shot.............The motherboard and bios is faulty.

E) As i am backing-up right now, lets say after i am done and i reboot up normally and the partition goes missing again, should i do a reformat of the Seagate HDD and how can i do that if windows are unable to detect it.

F) Do the reformat in safe mode? Is it possible and feasible.

G) In dos mode? Will it be possible even when windows can't detect the HDD.

H) Reformat the WD HDD? (I think this is a bit too much. I do periodical scanning and had quite a competent antivirus set-up . Alto i am tempted as it had been 2 years since the last time i reformat . Too lazy to install all my software all over again .)

I) What can i do now in safe mode to remedy the situation

J) As an afterthought, if i had to change the HDD, what brand and wat HDD is the best deal right now? (Not more than 500 gb)

Anyone know where i can get those jap manga that is translated into chinese by taiwanese publications company? The thing is, most of the chinese manga sold around pasar malam, shopping center and common places are either published by 天人 or [天下[　. The manga i am looking for is called WORST 极恶王 and i dun think those two publisher is releasing that. I can only find them in Starbookstore (that manga loaning place), and that oso incomplete. So, anyone know where i buy them?? I tried quite a lot of manga selling places, like sungei wang, lowyat, that place opposite kota raya (old).

smartdoctor screwing with me? Need some help here

Yo. need some help on figuring what is wrong with my GPU. (although i am sure nothing is wrong yet)

i am using asus 8800gt top for 2 years now. Had replaced the gpu fan with a thermal heatsink and an external fan blowing it a year ago becoz of the overheating. now, temperature is constant around 45 - 55 with no load n 60-67 with load.

A few days ago, i noticed that the software included with the GPU, asus smardoctor began to display a warning message which goes:

VGA's voltage is out of safe bound. Motherboard doesn't supply reliable 12.0 voltage. contact with its manufacturer for help

I did some research online and a few possibility was that either my gpu or psu was dying. i went to bios to check my voltage supplied to the gpu (the 12v thingy, and the result is 11.89 in which case i thought to myself, there is nothing wrong here.) In my attempt to justify myself as a cheapskate n refusing to accept the worse, i convinced myself that No my hardware is not failing, that it is just a faulty software (a known issue i think with smartdoctor).
So, i uninstalled the program n installed the newest copy of the smartdoctor thingy. This time, the warning message emerged different.It goes:

vga chipset fan isn't functioning well! Replacing with a new fan may be needed

But.........i dun even have a vga fan..........onie a thermal heatsink + a small everclear fan power-up by the mobo.

Any idea what the **** is wrong here?? thnx for the help

weird pc problem

i already googled this but did not come up with a definite answer.

Am using silverstone 500+ psu, with 8800 gt. Was surfing the net earlier when it started raining outside, very light rain so did not close pc, unplug modem. Suddenly loud thunder (i hate u stupid malaysian weather, light rain oso can hentam kau kau thunder.) As usual, the house's power box jumped, everywhere turned to darkness. restore house power. Did not want to power up pc, incase the thunder comes again. Wait till stopped raining. Tried to power up, psu works, all casing fan, gpu fan, processor fan works, motherboard will not post. tried unplugging the power cable behind psu, let it rest for 30 min. try again will not post. went online (modem is ok btw) with my bro's laptop, tried to search solution, came up with psu rosak, mobo rosak, graphic card rosak. method of confirming which one roask is to swap parts with any spare. Problem is, WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WILL KEEP A SPARE GPU, MOBO, PSU around their house?????????? if i change a part of cource go LYN sell off as second hand part one mar. Takkan i go buy a new part just to test. ZZZZZZZZZ.

So i resorted to the cheapest n most convenient solution i found on the internet.

A) reset the cmos n see whether can post or not, or
B) unplug all cable inside casing, remove all part. let it be idle for a while then reassemble.

I went with B), as i am unsure how to reset cmos, n had lost my mobo manual. (hehe)

Miraculously, after reassembling everything, the mobo can post.

What kind of stupid phenomenon is this??

Casing Fan gone?

Hiya,

Bought my pc 2 1/2 years ago. put it all together by myself. Using Lian li 007 casing. About a year ago, the back exhaust 12cm fan stopped spinning but the blue LED is still on. I thought maybe there are too much dust in the case (i dust it out once a year). After dusting, still not spinning, but LED still on. i check the pin, unplugged n plugged, dun think is loose. about 5 months ago, the front intake fan went kaput too... same thing, no spinning, led still working. u guys think the fan is a goner?? time to replace?? (was busy n too lazy to really replace be4 this.)

Btw, i leave my PC turned on for 24/7. Is 2 years the average life span of fans??

Any recommendations on good 12cm fans??? i dun like noise. any help is appreciated. if all goes well, will go over to lowyat to get it this weekend

Need help identifying a song on My.FM

Hi guys. Been listening to My.fm (101.80fm) on the car for the past few days and a particular song got stuck in me head n i am dying to track it down. Although i cant type in chinese and cant replicate the original lyrics of the song but everyday on weekday around 2pm, when myfm starts its 勤意咖啡馆 (some coffee shop program, i cut n paste this chinese word from myfm), they will play tat song albeit a short version of it and with the lyrics changed to reflect that program. Its a girl who is singing that song. I'm sure some of u do sumtimes listen to that or happen to listen to it, and any help in identifying it would be fantastic. I asked my sis and she said that it most probably is a local woman artist who sang it but she cant be sure who it is.

I now proceed to try use hang yu pinyin to replicate some of the lyrics when that program starts (please mind me ppinyin translation, eng educated )

Gaming rig (recommendation on parts please)

Hiyah, think this is the place to come to for advice on building a gaming rig. My budget is about rm5000. Am thinking of building a desktop to replace the laptop i am currently using for gaming (forced to buy laptop.....study abroad.....cant stop gaming even when abroad). My aspire 1691i is getting too obselete and just barely manage to support company of heroes. So i guess its time for a change. Just wanna be a bit specific here on what brand, type of the hardware to get.

Here goes. (Note, first time building own desktop)(am building it to use at stock speed coz i am a noob at overclocking) rclxms.gif tongue.gif

Processor = e8400 (am torn up deciding on whether to get quadcore or core2duo. Was thinking of getting the q6600 last month, but since the e8400 is coming out next month, will get this, cheaper than e6850 but with same clock speed and bigger cache.)( is it already available in Low yat?) (around rm750?)

GPU = asus 8800gt 512mb drool.gif (best price performance of the series 8 card. is skipping series 9 which is coming out feb/march as it basically uses the same G92 chip) (is there any better brand other than asus??)(around rm950??)

mobo = this is where i am stuck. Definitely not gonna do crossfire or SLI. but want a good motherboard with good sound. Does motherboard comes with intregated wifi like a notebook does??)(any recommendation???)(Budget = no idea)

Ram = definitely going with 4gb of ram. dun think i need high-performance ram as i not gonna overclock. But i wanna run vista 32-bit. should i get 4 stick 1gb or 2 stick 2gb ram??? speed at 677 or 800?? (i went to read a guide on ram clock and ratio and stuff, a lot of stuff about cycles and the rams relationship with the fsb. In the end damn confused. Need some help here ) around rm 400-500???

HD = 2x320gb 16mb western digital harddisk (should i get the sata or sataII or ide. wat difference??)(i download a lot. Manage to download 100gb in 2 month) my poor 80gb hardisk in laptop gone. am currently using 2 hardish enclosure and a few old hardisk to supplement) (rm800?)

monitor = 22inch lcd (samsung most probably or lg) (just a word.....is there much difference between 20inch and 22 inch. both capable of 1680x1050) i am used to using 1280x1024 on my 17inch laptop so not sure what a jump to 22 inch will have what result. Will gaming be nicer on 22 inch?? or is it the same in 20inch?? (around rm1000)

casing = i am not gonna overclock. U think i need to get a better casing? i do wanna fit all of my hardware thou. Does a better casing cools down the pc better? Do i need that if i dun overclock? (brand recommendation cry.gif ) (budget = unsure)

PSU = dun think stock psu will be enuf for the hardware. Do i go for the 400 watt or higher?? do i need that much?? Which one/brand u recommend

optical drive = think will get a dvdrw for now. liteon or samsung (rm110 ++--)

speaker = a 2.1 speaker (most probably altec lansing or creative) (rm200 ++--)

PRICE = rm4310 without a mobo, casing and psu

I dun mind if it exceed rm5k a bit.

Please spare some time looking over my build and offer some advice
If all goes well, i hope to have it ready before CNY.

So, this TMnet throttling is for real huh?? didnt really believe all the hype till recently....u guess correct....i was throttled.....
