Termite/Pest control treatment system

Hello fellow forumers,

I am in a bit of a dilemma regarding a long term termite treatment solution that was given by my contractor.

I've recently purchased a 40 year old home. There are drilling markings on all edges of the house internal flooring that shows it was treated with anti-termite medicine in the past. This would have been done a long time ago by the 1st owner as she had sold the house more than 10 yrs ago. I'm in the midst of planning for renovation and a few concerns:

1. I would like to avoid drilling through the tiles altogether but would also like to understand how effective is the baiting system as I was told it could take up to 6 months and if already infested, spraying the chemical underground is the best way.

2. My contractor offered to do the following design - lay underground piping with a downpipe every 1 meter below the house with 4 outlets outdoors on each end (2x front & 2 rear) that will solely be for putting in anti-termite chemical. It will be protruding out a few inches from the ground. This is to avoid drilling through the tiles, and putting the chemical inside the house. Those 4 outlets will be covered at all times when not in use of course to avoid creepy crawlers from coming through.

Just a few questions:

Is this safe in the long run because chemicals will still be pumped through underground although outdoors but I guess under circumstances where it might already be infested will prove very useful as opposed to the baiting system.

I have garden in the back with plans to do some tree planting and worry if this will have any long term effect especially if I decide on an edible garden later on.

My contractor believes this is a good and safe way to keep the house termite free and safe from having those toxic chemicals in the house. I am more concerned about long term effects and how useful having this pipes below the house would be.

Does anyone have this in your homes and is your experience with this method so far?

Teaching an expat a lesson

I've been employed with a MNC for 8 yrs now. I generally get along well with all co-workers and the vendors that work with us. I most importantly care about valuing the ppl I work with and building a professional relationships. I am also extremely concerned about how others are treated so mutual respect and human value are my main principles not just at the workplace but this applies at all times.

Now, never do I take things personal or hold grudges with anyone until I crossed paths with a certain expat/foreigner. This is my problem:

He treats our vendors who are locals like crap
He only rubs shoulders with fellow managers/heads and anyone below him, he doesn't even look at them and treats them like crap from the way he speaks to them. He is a manager by the way.
He flirts and harrases all the young Chinese girls on the floor. There were official complaints in the past.

I hate the fact that he kisses so much ass with bosses just to look good but treats fellow colleagues and vendors below him like crap. I want to teach him a lesson. I want him to understand that he came over from his 3rd world country because he needed a job in my country and if he mistreats ppl, he doesn't belong here.

What can I do to make him learn this lesson? Please ensure all suggestions are legal and non-violent. I am trying to find the best way possible that would affect him enough to learn his lesson.

What exactly are Le'Reve perfumes one might ask? Well they are basically rebranded and rebottled perfumes from your "high end brands" so the end consumer can enjoy the exact same perfume but not pay a premium for it. Typically, brands such as Ralph Lauren, Armani, Dunhill, Christin Dior and so forth all come from the same factory and packaged in a fancy box with a celebrity to often endorse the product. Guess who pays for the celebrity and the fancy packaging? You do!

And this is why perfumes cost a bomb over here apart from the taxes applied. These big branding companies now have an agreement with Le'Reve to rebrand and repackaged their perfumes so it can be sold at a cheaper price for the end consumer to benefit from but the agreement is that Le'Reve cannot sell them over the counter and can only sell their products via direct agents or dealers. I am a user myself and guarantee these are as good as the originals as it was personally tested before purchasing them. FYI, I now have the same list of repeat customers I had when I begin this business 3 years ago. When the product is guaranteed for its quality, there will always be happy repeat customers

Good Day Fellow Forumers,

In a slight dillema here. Been looking for a car and decided on a 2006 Mazda 6. Price is RM69k ++ negotiable from direct owner and condition is excellent. Car ONLY serviced/repaired at Bermaz Auto with full service record and condition seems extremely good but only concern is mileage as it has already hit 127K ++. From service records, a lot of major parts changed when mileage hit 110K such as drive shaft, suspension, starter coil, etc. Nice full spec and powerful 2.3L engine with sunroof, electric leather seats etc..

Reasons for choosing this car:

Always liked the design
Want a bigger and more comfortable car but not wanting to fork out too much in comparison to a new car I will be getting for that kinda specs
Will be using it for approx 5-6 years maybe and in my hands mileage will be about 20k or more a year

Afraid of:
Trouble getting spareparts and accessories for this model
Maintenance cost as not many outside shops seem to do Mazda (This is merely an assumption based on my personal research)
Reliability

Do you think its worth the time, value, and money getting hold of this beautiful but risky car?

How to differentiate OEM and Original Apple Acc?

Hi fellow lyn members,

need some help and advice from all apple sifu's put there. How do we differentiate from Original and OEM Apple Accessories? So far this is what i know.

For USB Sync Cable, can tell from the USB Cable Head

For earphone with mic and remote, quite hard to tell with its cosmetics unless with some close observation and diff is in sound quality.

For USB Power Adapter, not sure -----> PLEASE ADVICE
