iAkaun hasn't reflected any sort of contribution made through deductions in my salary and also from my employer since September. iAkaun says it will take up to 14 days after payment is made. If that's the case, today it should have updated until November. So is my employer telling me the truth (they said 100+ workers is a lot and will take time). Or EPF fellas tidur tak buat kerja and malas update the site?

How can I directly check on this? It's not funny, in the case that they count towards dividends and not comfortable people withholding funds at a whim.

Japan takes off 1.6 million Moderna vaccines for fears of contamination

TOKYO/ NEW YORK -- About 1.6 million doses of Moderna's coronavirus vaccine have been taken out of use in Japan because of contamination reported in some ("some") vials, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare said early Thursday.

Several vaccination centers have reported that vaccine vials contained foreign matter, according to an announcement from the ministry, which added it will seek to minimize the impact of the withdrawal on the country's inoculation program.

The ministry said later in the day that the substance that had been mixed in may have been metal. "It's a substance that reacts to magnets," a ministry official said. "It could be metal."

Takeda Pharmaceutical handles distribution of the U.S.-developed Moderna vaccine in Japan.

Nasdaq-listed Moderna confirmed receiving "several complaints of particulate matter" in vaccine vials distributed in Japan but said it had found "no safety or efficacy issues" related to these reports.

What are the chances that an insurance claim for money lost (theft, etc) gets rejected if it's filed weeks after the incident occurred. Police statement made the day after, however. Is there anything in the clause stipulating the time period?

China creating new forests the size of Ireland

Shanghai (Reuters) - China will plant new forests covering an area roughly the size of Ireland this year as it aims to increase forest coverage to 23 percent of its total landmass by the end of the decade, China Daily reported on Friday.

Planting trees has become a key part of China’s efforts to improve its environment and tackle climate change, and the government has pledged to raise total coverage from 21.7 percent to 23 percent over the 2016-2020 period, said the China Daily, citing the country’s top forestry official.

Zhang Jianlong, head of the State Forestry Administration, said at a meeting on Thursday that China would aim to grow at least 6.66 million hectares of new forest this year.

He said 33.8 million hectares of forest had been planted nationwide over the last five years, with a total investment of more than 538 billion yuan ($82.88 billion), bringing the country’s total forest area to 208 million hectares.

Three new state forests with a total area of 483,000 hectares would also be built in the new Xiongan development zone in Hebei province, he said.

The heavily polluted Hebei, which surrounds the capital Beijing, has also pledged to raise total forest coverage to 35 percent by the end of 2020.

China, which has to feed a quarter of the global population using just 7 percent of the world’s arable land, has long struggled to strike a balance between industrial growth, maximizing food production and protecting its environment.

The government is currently promoting an “ecological red line” program which will force provinces and regions to restrict “irrational development” and curb construction near rivers, forests and national parks.

The environment ministry said last month that 15 provinces had already drawn up plans, with the remaining 16 aiming to do so this year, but it is not yet clear what impact the policy will have on the country’s farmland.

Renting a locker/small personal space in kl

Hi, I travel a lot and can't bother to rent a whole place just to store my things in kuala lumpur. Preferably something I can open and close any time without being charged all the time, like a flat fee for a week. Nothing expensive, just 2 suitcases (not bomb or 100m dollars).

Hi, some company deposited a cimb issued cheque into my maybank account on Saturday. I know it may take 2-3 working days to clear, and took into account that Tuesday was a public holiday. But so far I couldn't see any floating amount via maybank2u. Is it normal? I have read online posts dated years ago that sometimes people couldn't see the floating amount but the funds eventually were made available.

Anybody got any experience with this?

Doctors using bicycle pump in sterilisation surgery in Orissa

An Indian state has halted mass sterilisations at health camps after a doctor was found using a bicycle pump to inflate women's abdomens.

Dr Mahesh Chandra Rout, who used a pump on 56 women last Friday, told the BBC pumps were regularly used in Orissa.

State officials said carbon dioxide should be used for the procedure, and using pumps could be dangerous.

Last month, a separate scandal erupted over sterilisations when 15 women died after operations in another state.

Tainted drugs were blamed for the botched surgeries in Chhattisgarh state.

Sterilisation camps are frequently held to carry out mass tubectomy operations on women in India as part of an effort to control the country's booming population.

I am here for a conference, as it would happen I forgot extra phone batteries. Can anyone point me where I can get my phone batteries charged? Preferably around W.Maju, Setapak area. I drove to Alpha Angle where there used to be one small machine that helps us do it (just pop the battery in) but it disappeared after the renovation.

Can we still apply for easy RHB loans without any payslip? Besides MyKad, I could provide my bank's statement for the last 3 months.

I work part-time in several hotels and roughly earn 1500-1800 per month. They only bank in my pay through Maybank. I've never applied for any type of loans prior to this.

If anyone has any experience in this, please do reply. Thanks.
