After all, even switching to a different person every day, 12,660 people would require a nonstop 34 years.

At one point, police suspected that Yūhei Takashima was backed by a massive criminal network.

But when questioned, Takashima remained unusually calm. He said: These things, I did all by myself. From start to finish, it lasted over 30 years.

He then recounted to police his utterly absurd life story.

In 1988, at age 37, Takashima was still just an ordinary teacher, sent abroad to teach at a school in Manila, the capital of the Philippines. There, he encountered the local nightlife industry.

By day, he taught and nurtured students at the school; by night, he began frequenting local entertainment venues. With the area's relatively low cost of living, he quickly became addicted.

After his three-year teaching stint ended, Takashima returned to Japan, but while his body came back, his heart seemed left behind in Manila.

Back home, he couldn't stop thinking about it long-term; outside of work, his mind kept replaying those experiences.

In 2008, due to his outstanding work performance, he was promoted to principal and gained more free time to manage as he pleased. From then on, every holiday, he would almost invariably fly to the Philippines.

There, he met a woman named Maria.

According to Takashima's account, she would continuously introduce him to women of different age groups, spanning from 20 to 70 years old...

Sometimes he'd take away five or six at a time; the most was even 14. And 14 wasn't his record—by his own account, he'd once connected with 50 women in a single day.

Precisely because of the sheer volume, Takashima began digital management. Each woman got a corresponding number, and every encounter was recorded and archived.

As for the photos, he claimed he'd always ask for permission in advance: if they agreed, he'd keep them; if not, he'd delete them. In other words, that album numbered up to 12,660 might not even be the full story.

The real number could be far larger than what's documented.
