Collecting debt

I have debt not business in nature but given as personal loan to an ex-collegue for sum of $1000. This was given in mid 2005.

Till today I have not been able to recover the debt and he is constantly avoiding me either by phone or if I show up at his place he will always be giving excuses. I feel like he is not interested in paying back and unless I resort to a professional service, I will never be able to recover that loan.

What would be the best way of recovering the loans for this matter. Any bros here have contact for any collection agencies etc and their rates? It would be much appreciated. Please PM if you feel it is not appropriate to write in the open.

Just that I am fedup of dealing with this and I'd rather lose some money to collect than get zero.

Thanks.
