ACCA without degree, cannot be a director in MNC?

Hi guys, I've been browsing thru the annual reports of major public listed companies in malaysia and I realised a common trend: most executive and non-executive finance directors of public listed companies possess at least a degree or two? What if a manager(with only ACCA) has been very outstanding and capable? Wouldn't they deserve to be admitted onto the board of directors as well? Or the future trend will be different? So far I havent found any exception to this situation, at least in Malaysia.
Boston Consulting Group

Apparently BCG has a division in Malaysia but it is rarely discussed at lowyat? I suppose it's due to its high application requirements as well as the relatively low number of BCG consultants hired in Malaysia? I've heard from somewhere that the entire workforce is less than 50 but this is not from a reliable source.
And in Malaysia they don't seem to even consider degree holders? My friend with excellent academic credentials once applied to BCG but received a faster-than-expected rejection letter saying that applicants need to have at least an MBA.
And regarding the pay at BCG, I've heard any monthly amount below five figure for consultants is seldom heard of?

Chartered Tax Institute of Malaysia

So I was looking for the premier professional taxation qualification in Malaysia and I came across this body --- The Chartered Tax Institute of Malaysia (formerly known as Malaysian Institute of Taxation;source:http://www.ctim.org.my/institute.asp)

Is this the only option if I wish to go for a professional taxation exam in Malaysia? Are there any other professional associations for taxation specialists in Malaysia? What qualifications do most tax consultants in Malaysia possess(apart from those obvious professional accounting qualifications)?
