All data in a partition suddenly gone, not delete

i got 2 hdd and 5 partition
all data in last partition suddenly missing after restart
most of the data in ZIP form and others is .doc .txt
any method or freeware to recover the data?

is it any better alternative software to develop a web system - my system is online web survey system to allowed multople user publish their question and get feedback from others
now using visual studio & ms sql server and it makes my pc lag all the time
is it dreamweaver can work? as for database i hav no others idea at all

need some suggestion for alternative sw or any related web tutorial that you frequently visit
