Lecturer's salary has drawn much interests to a number of forumers. I think it's high time to start a thread that compares lecturer's salary across various countries.

Here's the lecturer's salary in Australia:
Lecturer's Salary in Australia

Note:
1. The salary schedules do not include a superannuation contribution to UniSuper, which may be 3%, 9% or 17% of each employee salary, depending on the conditions of employment.

2. A fresh PhD graduate starts at the bottom of "Lecturer" or "Level B", which is equivalent to $72,388.37 = RM 220,357.44 per annum.

3. Median income (Source: Australian median income:

All Median wages for May 2009
* Australian Median wage for all employees, Full time or Part time, 15 years of age or over, would be $40,775
* Age 15-24 All workers median wage would be $20,577
* Age 25-34 All workers median wage would be $44,401
* Age 35-44 All workers median wage would be $47,376
* Age 45-54 All workers median wage would be $48,156
* Age 55+ All workers median wage would be $42,911

PhDExpert

Malaysia needs you, or you need Malaysia?

Malaysia needs you when she is an equal opportunity employer who hires all qualified employees without lawful or unlawful discrimination on the basis of race, color, gender, age, religious creed, material status or disability.

You need Malaysia when you snap up a job in this country even you are aware of the lawful or unlawful discrimination as a hindrance to promotion, research fund distribution, contract entitlement, etc.

Does Malaysia need you, or you need Malaysia?

What you think? Let's discuss. Relating this discussion to family commitment and other personal experience are welcomed.

The objective of this discussion is to understand how Malaysians at large perceive discrimination, be it lawful or unlawful, positive or negative, and spoken or unspoken, at working place. It is insightful for those who may contemplate working at home or overseas.
