Gfx prob?

I used to connect my video cables to the gfx card(Nvidia gforce 9600gt).One day,the pc started up with no display,so I unplugged the vid cable and connected it to the mobo.The PC ran fine,except I couldnt play any games except for the lower spec games.When I check the device manager,my gfx card does not appear under display adapters.I've tried unplugging everything,using an eraser on the gfx& ram,updating the driver.As of now,still no display if I connect the video cable to the gfx .So,I have to connect it to the mobo and this causes my pc to be a little noisy.What could bet he problem?Could it be a burnt gfx card?
