ATH M50s/LE 50th Anniversary model.

one day, I get lost while driving, and suddenly I found I'm in Subang Jaya. The Jaben sign board was blinking in my eye, then accidentally bring home the M50s/LE.

Firstly, I was waiting for the ATH 50th Anniversary model, W3000ANV was too expensive to me. Pro700MK2 ANV not suitable to me, cause I wish to have some other color instead of black. Of course, the price also consider expensive to me.

I spend around 2 hours in Jaben to test out the ATH AD700, Denon D1100 and ATH M50.

ATH AD700
Very comfortable wearing, huge ear cup, wont feel hot. Any way I found the sound was not as solid as M50. I guess open back is the reason. Sound volume too low to me, need to turn the volume buttun to 50%. Anyway, open back is not my target. Very fast I put aside the AD700.

Denon D1100 vs ATH M50
Actually I'm very surprise with the Denon D1100. I almost give up the M50 because of the D1100.

Due to this is the entry level of Denon, I'm actually doubt can it produce good sound. But then I found the sound quality are so good special when it come to the music instrument, specially for crash/ride cymbal. But I found M50 can do better when come to saxophone, specially soprano.

Both M50 and D1100 are very balance in treble, mids and bass. I cant find which one is better, to be nitpick, I can say M50 have better bass, but D1100 better in treble. Anyway, it just a very very slightly different.

D1100 have a slightly larger soundstage compare to M50, but it doesn't mean M50 is not good in the soundstage, just it is not as good as DT880, but still excellent. But then M50 sound more solidand powerful. Also, M50 better in clarity.

I was keep trying and trying between this 2 items. Finally, I found the M50 ear pad is softer and have better sound isolation. I dint feel hot, but just abit warm after 30mins listen on the M50.

The way ATH put the headphone is so special to me. Seriously, I donno how to put it back to the box.
