Samsung Galaxy S2 - Car charger not charging phone

Dear LYN people,

If this is the wrong forum, do move it to another section.
I wasn't sure if this is the right place but here goes.

I am using a Samsung Galaxy S2 (GT-I9100G) and I'm encountering a charging problem in a car.

For the past few weeks, my car charger was charging my phone normally while I drive but just last week, it stopped charging.
The charger still lights up but the phone doesn't charge.

Here are some of the things which I tried doing to see if anything can be done:

1) Bought another car charger but the same problem exists. The charger lights up but phone doesn't charge.
2) Used both charges on a different car but same problem. The charger lights up but phone doesn't charge.
3) Change the battery of the handphone but same problem. The charger lights up but phone doesn't charge.

*When charging from a regular power point socket, the phone chargers normally. Only in the car that doesn't work.*

Here's where I'm lost and I don't know what else to do.

Some questions to ask anyway:
a) Since I use the Waze app and it generates a lot of heat, would that affect the car charger/handphone when charging?
b) Would buying an expensive car charger make any difference?
c) What's the proper power supply to charge the phone while in the car? 500mA? Is there such a thing? Does it matter?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks everyone!
