I wanted to reformat my windows yesterday. Initially, my attempt is to use the reset function in windows 8.1.
However, it was mentioned that some of the files are missing and I need a recovery media.
As such, I've downloaded a recovery media from windows website.

After loading the ISO into my DVD, the "missing files" error message did not appear and I was prompted to a restart and boot through DVD.
However, after an initial windows logo, the screen when black and did not have anything even after a few hours.
I tried the same using pendrive instead.

Any idea why this happened?

Update: I did managed to see flashes of the installation windows before the screen goes black... The DVD was spinning on for awhile then stopped as well.
Comp have no response thereafter.

Note: I'm using Gigabyte Z77 D3H motherboard

PC Problem - possible reasons?

Hi,

I'm facing an issue with my PC whereby it would suddenly freeze and I could only move my mouse, can't do anything else.
When I leave my PC on for awhile, if the screen goes to sleep, it will not be able to start again.
First, I tried the software solution - i.e. refreshing the PC.
However, when that failed, not wanting to destroy my data, I tried installing windows on a new empty drive.
Though, when I was in the midst of booting up, loading the CD, it appear the windows logo, then disappeared. Then my pc black-out and I can't proceed with installation.
Finally, I tried resetting my PC on my original drive, expecting maybe the bios settings was not appropriate for the other disk. However, this fails as well.
I'm now suspecting that it could be hardware problem, but am not sure what are the possible problems.

Could anyone help me out on this?
Or if I were to send my comp to repair, is there any place any of you would recommend?

Subtitles on Sony Home Theatre Blu-Ray

Hi,
I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask.. So, sorry if it's a wrong place.
As per the title, I'm having troubles loading subtitles on my player when I use hard disk to watch the movies.
Below are the solution I have attempted:

Attempt to read srt file based on mp4
Convert the mp4 to avi (and attempt to load using srt file)
Convert the mp4 to mkv

Please suggest any other methods to hardcode subtitles, or loading subtitles on sony blu ray player.

Suggestion for gaming mouse

Hi,

I'm currently using the Logitech G700 and am not quite happy with the tracking accuracy..
I also find the hardware acceleration rather annoying.. (So, preferably, the new mouse shouldn't have any hardware acceleration)
Hence, I'm looking to buy a replacement mouse and would like to seek some suggestions to at least narrow down which mouse should I be bothered to test.

Below are some information of how I use mouse..

Grip - Claw / hybrid claw palm (my hand is relatively big, so i can use most palm mouses in claw grip. I'm using both G400 and G700 in claw grip)
Sensor - laser or optical is fine.. But I heard that optical has better tracking accuracy.
Side-button - as long as there's 2 side button, I'm fine.. Don't have to have tonnes of side-button
Budget - not really a concern. I don't mind paying if it performs. But if a cheap mouse performs, I will consider as well..

Based on my above "requirements", I'm actually looking at razer DA2013 and steelseries rival, but have slight preference for rival as there's DPI switch.
Nevertheless, all other suggestions are welcomed.

Along with a mouse, I would also like suggestion on surface as well..

Weak Signal

Hi,
I've just gotten my time broadband today.. However, I realized that the connection is very weak when I'm in my room.. Just wondering.. would weak connection affect the internet speed?
If I'm using wifi outside, the speed would be it's original speed (8mbps), but when I'm in the room, it's running on 100kbps only (based on speed test).
Would purchasing a wifi booster help me? I have an access point but found it to be laggy while gaming, and hence would rather not opt for using it again..
Also, I'm using the Cisco linksys E1200, which has no antenna. Any wifi booster suitable for my purchase?
