Clock/time doesn't sync - Lenovo Z50-70 (old lappy

Dear tech sifus,

My old laptop (that my mom is using) clock/time is not syncing anymore. I always need to "manually sync" it in the Clock/Date settings.. Problem is, it's my mom who is using. She's older, and I can't ask her to keep doing this 'manual sync' thing everytime she turns on her laptop

Note: The current laptop battery is 100% dead, and it's not charging anymore. So it's running direct from charger.

My limited knowledge, it should either be the BIOS battery, or Laptop Battery dead, right? But does this Lenovo Z50-70 even have a 'BIOS battery'? (I know desktop CPU have)

I watched a "disassembly video" on YouTube to look at the internals, and saw this part (view photos, with red arrow) - Is that the laptop BIOS battery? (it looks like it's soldered to the board)

Or would actually just changing the laptop battery itself solve this Clock/Time non-Syncing issue?

Ice coated like freezer in indoor aircon unit

Seriously, this is the first time I've seen this, and am a little in shock, to be honest . What happened??

This is my mother's room indoor split aircon unit . I think it's around 2years+ old, since I bought it for her in 2023 .. I have been washing/simple-servicing my own home aircon units for a few years now. And time passed so fast, I didn't even realize it's been 2 years+ already, and I haven't washed/serviced it for her before

NOTE : But the funny thing is, every once awhile I will clean the filters on this aircon. The last time I cleaned the filters was about 2 weeks ago, and the coils still looked clean to me (although a little dusty) .. Hence also why I thought it didn't need to be clean and serviced yet.

How I found out was, she told me the aircon has "cracking" sound when she turned it off last night, it freaked her out. And today when she got home in the evening, she noticed the aircon unit was "sweating" and water dripping from everywhere. After I opened it up only saw the ice.. Shocked. I'm just letting it thaw and defrost by itself now until tomorrow..

Not even a week into new Maxis Home Fibre plan

Hi all, not sure if anyone can even help.

Been using 30mbps Maxis Home Fibre for YEARS, and never had an issue (even when they discontinued 30mbps, I quietly stayed on 30mbps for years and still paid the same RM89 as their current 100mbps) .

Last month, butt itchy and decided to upgrade to their 100mbps, thinking that I would be getting a speed upgrade, and still pay the same monthly fee of RM89.. Bad mistake.

- 2 days right before TM&Maxis came to fix the new modem&router .. Suddenly I can't visit certain websites like maybank2u , speedtest.net (OOKLA), reddit, quora, etc, etc... MANY websites. - BUT surprisingly, I can still browse and use Lowyat, WhatsApp Web, Youtube, Facebook, Google Drive .. ANYTHING ELSE would result in "This site can’t be reached" .

- Called Maxis, was told to wait for the new router & modem upgrade, and see if problem persist.

- After installation, it was good for about 5-6 days, and suddenly on 4th March, SAME THING happen again. Slow internet speed, and many websites can't be reached, EXCEPT the few Facebook/Youtube/Whatsapp Web/Drive .

- Complained to Maxis, long story short, agent claims they are getting "proper speeds from speedtest on their side".. And after their useless resetting and diagnostics, they escalated to "2nd level" (Who the hell is on 2nd level? TM?)

- Called them again and again till today, and latest update is they are trying to "check my IP, and also check with those website that I can't reach, like Maybank and Speedtest.net". And so far "Maybank said no issue on their server" .... WTH ? Are they going to check with EVERY single website I can't visit? Sounds like bullsh*t to me.

I HAVE A STRONG FEELING there is something else going on here? Are they blocking my usage and not providing me a proper IP Address or something like that, on purpose? (Please pardon me, as I'm not knowledgeable enough on Network and Broadband as many of you)

Because now I am bound to a new 2-year contract. So I'm sure they know "as long as I can still browse" , I can't terminate or leave . Right? Is there something I should know? Or am I thinking too much on this?

Hope someone can shed some light for me, cause I'm seriously feeling helpless and clueless on this Only thing I know is to report to MCMC or KPDN .. What else can I do if they don't solve this?

Tenant from hell still causing my mom problem

To the dear bros and sis that helped earlier this year - https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=5503269&hl= . This time, the same tenant from hell is causing my mom headache again.

In January (thanks to you all), I managed to cut the electricity, and the tenant paid right away. Even over the months, the tenant also didn't want to pay her rental, and we blocked the access cards, and she paid right away. This went on for a few months, and for the past 2 months, my mom had peace for awhile when the tenant knew she had to pay everything , or risk getting cut or blocked from her unit.

BUT SINCE EARLY JULY (this month), the tenant stopped paying rental again. And all the drama started - the tenant started threatening and scolding my mom with vulgar languages . Even threatening my mom to go over to the unit so that she can "give my mom a tight slap" (exact words), and once even told my mom to go over to the unit because the tenant's family and elders are there . The elders want to "speak" to my mom and hand her the rental in cash.. This was all an attempt to make my mom go over so they could scold her instead (and God knows what else they may do to my mom? It's too dangerous.).. The damn tenant dares to do this because my mom already 70yrs+, so she dares to bully her.

This month, we tried blocking the access cards again, but somehow she still manage to enter her unit (we suspect she has bribed the guards and management) , because even after officially reported and complained to the Management Office has been useless. The tenant is still able to enter the unit everyday up until now. We have also made police report, but police say can't do anything, because crime hasn't been committed yet.

This tenant's tenancy is ending in September 2025. - What can we do now to force her to pay her rent? . I researched about tribunal court, but many seem to say that court method would be a tedious and expensive process, so not worth it (especially now since only 2 months left).

I think the tenant's plan is to drag this on until her tenancy ends, and force my mom to use the deposit to cover the rental payments. BUT judging from the hell over the months, I believe my mom's unit could be in quite bad condition already. I just feel bad that my mom needs to go through all these stress, and then in the end after tenant leaves, still fork out her own money later on to repair all the damages. (I'll definitely cover for her too)

I am taking leave tomorrow, to go with my mom to the management office. She has been doing all these reports/complains alone all these while because I couldn't do it with her during the weekdays due to my work schedule.

Do you think raising my voice at the management and lobby guards would make any difference? Should I make a scene? I'm seriously very angry that even the management is not helping now. What is my mom paying maintenance fee for, if there is a security breach, and management is not doing their job?

Tenant from hell causing my mom trouble

Please help and advice .

My mom's new tenant has been paying rental, BUT have not paid electricity bills since moving in (4 months already).

After all the empty promises , and claiming she did not get her salary, etc , and my mom patiently and understandingly gave the tenant chance to settle it - But ultimately, today, the tenant arrogantly told my mom "Electricity bill is between YOU (my mom) and TNB. I won't need to pay. I will only pay if I have the cash" .

What legal options does she have now, to deal with this tenant from hell ?

As my mom had 2 long term very-good tenants before this, so 1 of the mistake my mom did was not transferring the TNB name to the tenant. (Which I just recently found out she should have done, when renting out to tenant) .. So i believe this tenant is using this mistake against her now.

I know what can be done is request TNB to cut the electricity first - But after that, what else can be done, in this scenario?

My mom is old, and I hate seeing her being bullied like this. Thank God she's a little tech-savvy, so she can still manage things a little.. But in this case, I NEED YOUR HELP, SO I MAY HELP HER deal with such a tenant from hell.. Appreciate your help so much.

Weird 'one line' pattern cracking on tires

Hi sifus, i looked all over google but can't find a similar crack pattern that is same as mine. Mine seems to be a one line pattern following a 'longkang' in the sidewall of the tires.

Is this a sign to change tires? Is it still safe to drive?

The tires manufacturing date is Dec 2018. Almost 6 years of age.

Did not backup Whatsapp chat. Phone dead.

Dear bro/sis , need your kind help.

The wife did not clear her Google Drive for months, did not backup her Whatsapp Chat since May.

Phone already auto-turned off and came alive after few hours (up to 24hrs) for a few times over the past weeks, giving her many chances, but she still ignored.

- 4 days ago, her phone fully died and cannot turn on anymore until today.
- We got a new phone, but don't dare to put in the simcard into the new phone, in case the old chat backup gets loaded into the new phone. (Is this theory correct?)
- Her WhatsApp WEB is still ACTIVE on her laptop, and still have all the latest chat/messages on the WhatsApp WEB.

I only thought of backing up through Whatsapp Web, researched online it says it's not possible. But need to use certain program like 'ChatMover', something like that. What other options do I have?

Please please help, if you have time to. Thank you very much 🙏

Charging dashcam & phone together

Hi,

Not sure how many others of you have this problem also - My Honda Jazz only have 1x 12v socket, and 1x USB port (for playing USB music files) .

Tried using my original Huawei dual-USB 12v adapter to charge both my 70mai 1S dashcam, and also charge my phone .. BUT the 1S Dashcam always auto-stop recording after awhile, and sometimes the dashcam will say something about "use blablabla charger" .

70mai said it's because i'm not using the 1S original adapter.. Thing is, I need to charge my phone sometimes in the car too .

Anyone managed to solve this issue with any compatible dual 12v-usb adapter? Or do I have no choice but to use 70mai's own adapter (1x usb slot adapter only) , and not be able to charge my phone?

Strange whirring sound after start up, first move

Hi sifus , last 3-4 months ago been hearing this strange mechanical-like "whirr" sound ONCE, lasting for 1-2 seconds , right after moving from standstill .

Vehicle : Honda Jazz , 2015 .

- Turning of steering wheel does not affect it occurring or not. It still happens the same, after initial move off (after starting car).
- Cold / warm start also the same, only 1 time, right after initial moving off from standstill.
- Sounds like it's coming from just right in front of my driver dashboard / meter column , or maybe it's at the engine bay right in front of driver area. (Jazz engine bay quite small)

Did I get cheated by this alignment (tire) shop?

Hi sifus, hope you can let me know if I got cheated (cause I'm not expert in this) .
I'll break it down as simple as possible :

1) Car felt like floating/unstable at high speed, and car pulling to left on highway.
- Got alignment + balancing done at this tire shop
- Next day tested at highway : No more floaty feeling, more stable. BUT when let go of steering wheel, the car will still slowly move/pull to left.

2) Next week, went back to the shop to tell them.
- Mechanic test drove my car.
- Stopped the car beside the road, adjusted some thing behind my Right-Front wheel.
- Told me that it's not any suspension part issue (I asked him), and he also said it's not the tires issue. He said it was due to "sometimes, one side of the car is higher/lower than the other side", and he is also "not sure why this happens to some cars".. And told me that "just swap Front-Left and Right tires, will be ok already."
- After he swapped the front L <-> R tires. Mechanic test drove again and told me the car no more pulling to left.

NOTE: No re-checking was done on the alignment machine.

3) Next day, tested on highway:
- No more pulling to left, BUT now feel like it's very very slightly Pulling to the RIGHT instead.
- And worse of all, the unstable/floaty feeling on highway is back.
Car feels very uncertain during highway speed, and especially corners on highway.

Very frustrated.. Was I cheated? Is this a typical method tire shop mechanics use to not do a proper alignment job for customers?
OR what the mechanic did (swap tires), was actually correct?

Hope can get your kind advice on this, before I go back to the shop. Or spend money again to check/do alignment at a different shop..

Any of you use other car brand's engine oil?

Have any of you used other car brand's engine oil for your different car brand before?

I'm tempted to save some budget, and get maybe the slightly cheaper Nissan, or Toyota (same viscosity)'s engine oil, for my Honda Jazz GK3.

I read online that, these oils are usually from the same source/factory, they just package the oil into different packaging for different car brands .

Reason why I ask is because, I actually did try the Mitsubishi engine oil in my last oil change, on my Honda Jazz. And my butt thought it felt my Jazz's performance became weird , and had some weird acceleration feeling.. Not sure my butt is just confused or what.

Any of you have any experience? or advice against doing so?

If you wish to flame / shoot me for thinking too much - please feel free to do so ya . 🙏 I want to learn the truth. Enlighten me!!

Using Mitsubishi Engine Oil on a Honda?

I know I may most probably get laughed at for asking this.. But if you are willing to teach me something, so be it.. Laugh away.

Situation: Currently I have few family cars to maintain. One of the Honda in here always serviced at SC before this, and now warranty is over, I'm thinking to switch to cheaper engine oil and service myself. (I usually use original Mitsubishi Engine Oil for the other Proton and Perodua)

Short Question: Is it ok to use Mitsubishi Engine Oil also, for the Honda? (if I follow the same grade and viscosity required for the Honda, that is used by the SC, which is "0w20 API-SN" )

Or is there a difference in quality actually, and I should stick back to Honda brand original engine oil?

Please enlighten me, and if you have any taunts to throw my way, feel free to do so too. Thank you! 🙏

Connecting 2nd Router to Main Modem

Due to certain reasons:
- My Modem is Upstairs.
- Router is downstairs. Connected with a longgg Ethernet cable.

Issue:
- My PC is Upstairs. Same room as Modem.

Looking to:
- Connect my PC to Router via LAN cable, but don't want to pull another longgg Ethernet cable to the Router downstairs.

Thinking to:
Connect an old TPLink 2nd router to my Modem Upstairs here. Connect it to PC with shorter LAN Cable, instead of pulling from 1st Router downstairs.

I managed to connect to the 2nd Router here after RESETTING the TpLink Router.
But now it is still saying "NO INTERNET ACCESS" . And when I troubleshoot , the problem is " The DNS Server isn't Responding" .

I managed to login into my TPLink router's Setup Page , but not sure which setting to adjust?

Is Maxis throttling Mobile Data connection/speed?

Ever since I renewed a 2year contract early this year (2022), for a free Samsung A03s.. My Mobile Data has been very wonky. Always will have no connection, or super slow connection. Never had this issue before this contract renewal.

Last month, first time I called Maxis, agent told me to change new sim card, which i did, but still no difference. 2nd time called, Maxis agent told me to do a 'Reset APM' in my phone Settings, and turn On/Off Airplane Mode.. This worked, but only temporarily.

Everyday when I am out, it'll be the same thing.. Need to do this 'reset APN' everyday for mobile data to work. 🥴😌

Is anyone else experiencing the same? Can Maxis be throttling my connection, since already bound to a 2year contract?

Which cars nowadays has quick throttle response

Any cars that have that quick throttle response (like previous older Myvi) with cable throttle type.. Not like the 'electronic tuned to ECU' type nowadays with laggy / rubberband effect when press on throttle.

I read that even current Myvi throttle response is laggy, although haven't test drive. . I just like that 'step and it moves at the same time according to pedal pressure' kind of feel.

I like my current Honda Jazz gk5's quick throttle response, but I need another cheaper car for family use, for running quick errands around town .

Any suggestions?

Constant Random 'Unidentified Network' - Win 7

My hardwares : I use a PC Desktop and a AV600 Powerline , been using since last year, no issues. I've been using Maxis 30mbps package for years, no issues, always get 85-100% speeds on the Wifi and Powerline.

Problem : Last month, suddenly my PC's network keep appearing an extra 'Unidentified Network' , along with my main 'Network 2', and then my PC totally won't have internet access. And ever since this happened, my whole house's internet and wifi have been slower than usual too.

Tried self-diagnose : I have to always "Disable" my Local Area Connection, and then press 'Troubleshoot Problems" , and my PC will auto-troubleshoot and turn back on my Local Area Connection, and then I'll get internet access back . But it will be very slow.

Does any sifu know what is happening?
Is Maxis doing something on their side to throttle my connection because I'm still on the 30mbps ? Router issue? Or maybe, could it be my PC's Network Adapter issue causing this?

Am I making a mistake buying older phone model?

I need to get a phone for the wife, her phone died. She is a big Huawei supporter and loves the P series for the cameras. She would not consider iPhone. (Also out of budget, lol.)
My budget is RM3000-RM3100. Maybe RM3200.

I noticed if I pushed abit more to RM3500-ish , I could get the P40 Pro 's old stock - OR the new Samsung S22 (RM3499) . But S22 front camera not as good as P40 Pro.

Big question - Am I retarded and making a big mistake buying older model P40 Pro? Or should I bite it, and push my budget for P50 Pro , for long term? Since she likes the better cameras on the P series.

[Need Advice/Suggestion] Soundbar for TV

Hi guys, hope this question post isn't out of place, as I think you guys are mostly more high-end audio listeners / audiophiles . 🙏

Just need advice, for a soundbar for my TV . I don't need anything too high end, and my budget is below RM450, if possible. 🙏 🙏

- This would be my first Soundbar . I am not a Bass-head, but I would like some simple bass .
- My living room isn't large. Small-Medium-sized terrace house.
- The 2.1 speakers previously used for this TV was a Edifier C3, and a Logitech Z623 . Both which I found the Bass a bit too strong, and I had to tone down , although I was happy to have enough bass when I needed it .

So far I found the MI Soundbar, and the SonicGear BT3500 / BT5500 .
Some people said the MI Soundbar was lousy , but reviews on YouTube seems to say the MI Soundbar "surprised" them with the quality of sound.
The BT3500/5500 was interesting, as it has Bluetooth 5.0, and the wireless subwoofer on the BT5500.

I also found the Vinnifier BT300 soundbar, but I'm ruling that one out, as I read that it has a scooped "U-shaped" type of sound . I'm a music listener too, so I don't want to have that scooped U-shaped EQ .
